Lady of Chartres Cathedral, CHARTRES

There’s another Notre Dame 50 miles southwest of the city of Paris and a great day trip for a look at France’s oldest pure gothic cathedral built and decorated between 1134 and 1260 and like Notre Dame it was once destroyed and rebuilt and the miracle is that the veil of Mary survived, and so you can see the religious relics of the cloth Jesus was born on and visit a UNESCO world heritage site that is for many pilgrims sacred and particularly of significance is the opportunity to walk the labyrinth if you visit on a Friday after Lent and before All Saints’ Day it’s open for anyone to walk
