Lyrics
The police walked in for Jimmy Jazz
I said, he ain't here, but he sure went past
Oh, you're looking for Jimmy Jazz
Sattamassagana for Jimmy Dread
Cut off his ears and chop off his head
Police came looking for Jimmy Jazz
So if you're gonna take a message 'cross this town
Maybe put it down somewhere over the other side
See it gets to Jimmy Jazz
Don't you bother me, not anymore
I can't take this tale, oh, no more
It's all around, Jimmy Jazz
J-a-zee zee J-a-zed zed
J-a-zed zed Jimmy Jazz
And then it sucks, he said, suck that!
So go look all around, you can try your luck, brother
ANd see what you found
But I guarantee that it ain't your day
Chop! Chop!
The sound of that opening guitar lick along with the bass just before the drums kick in is just... unreal
Un-real for sure. You got that right.
Unreal..? I'd say perfection.! JAZZ.. JIMMY JAZZ. 👌👏👏👏
I just went back to hear it a 2nd time, cause man, you are so right. Freaking mystical man. They were the best. Love!
Are you high? lol
@@johnnyssik not yet but that's a good idea!
I remember when I was 16 years old back in like '08 and I was at the local grocery store to visit my gf at the time who was a cashier. There was a CD display near the registers which had a bunch of classic albums including London Calling. I knew Train in Vain from the NCAA 06 soundtrack and heard great things about the album. I decided to buy it and see if the rest of the album held up. After hundreds of listens later, here I am 12 years later reminiscing about it on RUclips. London Calling is the greatest album ever written and you can't convince me otherwise.
NCAA 06 had such a great soundtrack. It introduced me to so much good music and bands.
👍🇨🇦
Lil Wayne’s tha Carter 3 is a good choice imo
When I want to listen to some old music, The Clash is one of my go to bands. I love me some good old british rock
Same and Nirvana
This song makes me super emotional, I don't know why. The opening lick? The whistling? The horn section? Joe's singing?
A lifetime of memories on this one.
if you like this you might like my brothers music. His name is Stu Morris, 'murder the ghost' is a good song by him
it's because he sounds like he's choking back tears of [whatevr] and in that sultry one-of-a kind vocal punky sound as he charms the pants offaya (ladies I mean) with his enthusiastic passionate self-tamed growl-sing?
London Calling by the Clash is the best double album of all time .. by far
Best album of all time
This or White Album
Cuz ever hear of Physical Graffiti??
@@MeneervdbergScrew the overrateles. Gimme any band ever instead of them

As far as I am concerned Jimmy is still at large... I've heard it through the grapevine, that he actually made it, to the land far, far away. There's no night there, there's only day.
Well said.. I respect that totally
Joe Strummer's vocals on this song are almost offensively excellent.
Tears for me listening to this right now. Cut my teeth on this album when I was about thirteen so 1985. This was always the coolest song on the album to me. Looking for Jimmy Jazz Jazz Jazz Jazz
I can’t stress enough how surreal it was to be listening to this supposed punk album and hear this.
Punk at its core
Punk is a mindset
Jazz was punk long before rock was.
😂😂😂it was punk!
It was just so..... Clamp down, as I took off his turban I said is this man a jew? Say where did I see this guy? In red river or a place in the sun, maybe the misfits or from here to eterni.? Cut off his ears and,arr chop off his head. As I'm all lost in the supermarket, can no longer shop happily police came in lookin for Jimmy Jazz Jazz , J A Z Z. Oh oh the guns of Brixton. When they kick at your front door how your gonna come, with your hands upon your head or on the trigger of your gun. It's all so Hateful that Rudie can't fail whilst being all lost in the supermarket looking for death or glory and koka kola whilst waiting for the clampdown in death or glory looking for the right profile when Spanish bombs fly over ander Lucia but I'm not down Coz I train in vain
At that I'll call it a day. This was Revolution rock. 😎
One of the best, if not the best album of all time.
Indeed, the best rock album of all time...
I agree
With Nevermind!!!
Shaded by its successor, in my view.
It's one of the best, for sure
It gets me at first listen. The clash is a really entertaining band
This is the real goods if you're a seasoned Clash listener
Early 80's in the Moss Hall Tavern, North Finchley.
Glory days.
I know a jimmy jazz. and i love him more than i love my own brother. *here's to you, Jimmy*
I think that The Clash with "Jimmy Jazz" opened the door to incorporate jazz in the punk scene... Another cool bass line that contains a "jazzy" bass part is Sublime - STP, a must listen
Respect to the Clash for not disabling comments on their songs like every other bloody band does
I think RUclips does that
It's because it's an "Official Audio" video. Only those and the videos have comments enabled unless someone is manually uploading. RUclips automatically uploads these kinds of videos, but idk why they have all of their songs in official audio form while most other music channels do not.
youtube does that to a lot of songs so that bots do not spam the comment section
those are for the automated audio songs, youtube does that for all of those audios
A great song by The Clash :-)
Gotta love the clash. Read the novel Headhunter by michael slade, jimmy jazz has a crazy spot in the book. I always think about it when i listen to this song.
Songs of my youth...songs of my presente life. For me this is one of the best band ever... they change the rock music forever. Joe Strummer, had a very good fluence with words.

Was the first CD I ever actually bought for myself.
This song is magic. Don't ask me why. It really breaks my heart.
Satta Massagana ! Punky Reggae Party ! Jah Bless ! From Bahia - Brasil.
Pure classic album
I love this song even more when wasted! My slurs almost resemble Mr Strummer. Almost....
Satta massagnana for all who disliked, chop chop
Unexpectedly acoustic. Varied album indeed.

Reminds me of squatting and magic mushrooms
To me it tastes of cold isolated, frozen-in-time memories of Winters '06-'10.
why squatting?
@@MrErickloli Because I was living in a squat years ago when I really got into the clash thanks to a punk who lived there also.
same here! Rock on :)
@@MrErickloli Joe Strummer lived in a squat too when Clash came out
Underrated drummer

London calling album a great mixture of Clash songs I love it
One of my favourite song intros. The melodic whistling is so incredibly iconic and beautiful. Punk.
Darth Vader get your facts right my friend it was NEVER A PUNK ALBUM.
I love the acoustic guitar and sax/brass.
Strummer's guitar is so out of tune at the end of this song!

I'm 14 (italian)and I think the Clash are still one of the best band of all time. I really a don't get how the music now in 2020 is getting so bad. It's evolving, just backwards
Nice pewds reference
@@bentheobald1426 Don't be that hard. There's a lot of mainstream artists these days that make wonderful, soulful music. Sure, it may not be pure rock, but hey! Good music is good music, right?. You got Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean, Chance The Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, Mac DeMarco, Tame Impala, and many, many more.

Punk aesthetic conveys roughness and rebellion, but there is an elegance and refinement to the sound. They might well beat the crap out of me for say it, but it’s pretty. I don’t know if it’s the use of simple chords, absence of any dissonance or kind of minimalist approach, but the effect is a kind of purity that just hits the ear as so unfussy and direct, each instrument and the vocals just piercing, but an elegant sound. I love the guitar chords with that bass, just such a unique, pure sound, both modern and classic.
Celebro que The Clash creara esta buena canción ... para que años después Kortatu puediera versionarla y superarla.

Why is Joe ratting out Jimmy to the police? Mick’s guitar lead sounds like a saxophone. The acoustic guitar also sounds great on this. It has great “feel”, including Joe’s vocals. Chop-Chop.
