New Cronenberg, new Coppola, new Schrader, new Ridley Scott, and last year we had new Scorsese, just to name a few. Octogenarians killing it since the 60s and 70s. What an inspiration.

New Lynch and new Jarmusch would be also welcomed.

I love all the names you mentioned. But let’s step out of the bubble of ‘legends’ for a sec - Coppola has been releasing true garbage for over 2 decades. Scott is always a hit or miss - and his last release was a clear miss. Schrader has been bland for years now, and Scorsese is the only one who is still kind of killing it, but has become predictable and honestly kind of boring. Cronenberg - who is a true genius - shifted to a different gear more than 20 years ago - which is cool. But he has also been releasing some terrible movies in this period - namely the last one with Cassel. I keep my expectations low - specifically when it comes to all of these legends.

So excited! Very intrigued by the fact that the films mentioned are Crash, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, and Maps to the Stars

Karsh, 50, is a prominent businessman. Inconsolable since the death of his wife, he invents GraveTech, revolutionary and controversial technology that enables the living to monitor their dear departed in their shrouds. One night, multiple graves, including that of Karsh’s wife, are desecrated. Karsh sets out to track down the perpetrators. -Wikipedia
Sort of gives me Ubik vibes. Can't wait.

Yeah, I came to my appreciation late, but he’s one of the few filmmakers I actually get kind of excited about anymore. I thought Crimes of the Future was a lot of fun. This looks good too!

Hopefully, Guy Pearce deserves better roles, beginning with this film!

Whoa, just saw that Guy Pearce is mentioned even though they didn't show him. You're right he's such a fantastic actor who has been criminally underutilised by the studios.
As for the film, there are definitely some strong visual vibes from Dead Ringers with an air of eXistenZe to it. It looks like classic Cronenberg with an air of modernity to it.

He has a couple interesting things coming out this year. The Brutalist and Inside look promising. But since his divorce he’s been taking a lot of really bad red box films. Before 2017 though I’d argue he was getting plenty of interesting roles and was in high demand.

Crimes of the Future didn't do much for me, and this teaser doesn't get me really excited either. But Cronenberg is my all time favorite director, so still looking forward to it.

Hmmmmm. I have hopes this will b good, but his last film was a bust for me and I was shocked as I have been a Cronenberg fan since The Fly.
