I mentioned in the video that I thought the codes were the same between bendix and wabco. They are not the same. I provided links to the blink codes in the description.
+Donald Kirven take a few pictures of the old one before you take it off. Then you can reference your pictures when you install the new one. I also like to use colored zip ties to mark the position of each air line and abs wire. Don't forget to use thread sealant on all NPT fittings. (pipe thread) Check to make sure you don't have any air leaks, and make sure all your brakes are applying and releasing properly before you take it for a test drive. Depending on the abs valve it may need to be programmed when you install it. Usually if your truck has a stability control system. So you'll need a computer with the right adapter and the diagnostic program from the manufacturer of your abs valve if that's the case. (Probably better to take it to a shop if you don't know) Hope that helps.
@@TheHDPerspective My friend, im having an issue with abs that even the dealer cant find the problem. What is going on is that the dash Tractor and trailer Abs light comes on when i start the truck and will go up after driving a few minutes (like 10 Minutes) NO CODES! Dealer replace my abs ecu! Still same problem. All started when dealer replace my egr sensor. Have you had any similar problem? Thanks in advance
I too thought this was a very good video but, he did not mention any info about the hubs/tone rings other than their existence. They also perform a crucial function in the abs system. If you do all these steps and the trailer comes back due to an intermittent abs malfunction, you may have bad hubs. I have been seeing more trailers with intermittent abs faults that make no sense and have found hubs with corroded teeth sufficient for the system to malfunction. Perhaps only a few teeth will be corroded an pointed in shape instead of square etc. You have to inspect all of the components.
The ABS light was not doing that until I had mentioned it to you the other day . It is not recommended to drive with that ABS light on . The DOT will shut the truck down until it is fixed . I just checked on that
Good stuff. I just found your channel and subscribed. Your point was great about color ties on the ABS wires. On our '02 KW's both wires to the wheel sensor are black! So, on a polarity sensitive system, how's a guy to know which is which unless, it's marked. When a tire chain comes loose and breaks the connection, there's a 50/50 chance to get it right the first time.
Here’s my issue, would appreciate your thought on it; Bought a used 2016 trailer. Plug into and ABS and it does the normal test procedure and light turns on then off Driving on snow/ice roads and making a harder brake application, the trailer locks up without any abs function. Abs light does not come on. I have power at the center pin and to the abs module. Brought it back to the dealer for repair any they handed it back saying abs functioned fine and no stored fault codes. They cleaned connections and sent me on my way. Next snow storm I tested the brakes and of course no abs. Any ideas or past experience with something like this?
It's hard to say without being there, but if all the wheels with the sensors lock up at the same time, the system will just think the trailer is parked. It works by comparing the wheel speeds to each other and if they're all the same, then the abs system won't activate. That could be a possible explanation. Especially if you only have 2 wheel speed sensors for a multi axle trailer. Trailers that have a sensor on each wheel are less likely to suffer from this problem. Hopefully that makes sense.
I hope you read the comments because I can really use some input on a problem I'm have with the exact same system as you test in this video. My problem is the valve boots up correctly and tests good. No blink codes, the problem is the abs indicator light stays on all the time and wabco has been no help in aiding me. I figured the valve is what controls the abs light shut off so I replaced the valve with a new one and I have the same problem so it's not the valve. I cant track the indicator hot wire because it goes into the harness at a rubber block junction that runs to the front of the trailer and down to the valve. Inside the harness it's just standard 7 way. I need to know some common problems and what color wire coming out of the valve goes to the indicator light please? Hope you can help with this.
Good night master… I just replaced the abs module complete with the air valve.. just did my S cams on both sides put on new sensors and extensions… and when I turn the truck on abs light comes on few seconds comes off … problem is when I move and I park it starts blinking 7 times stops and then another 2 times ..any advice please I have worked so much on it!
You can check to see if the hub has play if the bearings are no longer seeded properly the tone ring will bounce back and fourth causing an air gap at moments
What would cause the ABS light on the trailer to not cycle during the self test? I’ve replace the bad light on the trailer and a bad relay on the truck.

Hello. Freightliner Cascadia 2016. Tractor ABS light on. The truck won't start. I don't have a check engine light on the dashboard only the ABS light on. If you guys know something about this can help me. Appreciate it.
I have an abs light that WONT turn on during MUT test. I traced wires and basically found power was going to abs module but no power out to the light from module. What tests can I perform for that?
My abs light don't come on when I turn the key to on or turn the semi truck on. I just changed the pigtail wire and a brand new round abs light, and still not working. What can it be? Do I test the wire for current? And if there is no current then what?
My abs for the truck is on It initially powers on does self test fine. I drive down the road and could be 5mins or a couple hrs. It comes on. And my cruise control won't set the speed. Only if I'm lucky it will set after 30 times of hitting the button. Please help?
Hey bud! I really enjoyed your video... what do you think it would be when I turn the ignition on the abs light does NOT come on, but it will when I press the breaks when driving, it would come on for few seconds then go off even if I still have my foot on the brakes??? Please help I’m driving 2016 Pete 389 car carrier
Is this just on the trailer or the truck? If it's just the trailer you probably don't have power going to the abs module on the blue wire or centre pin on the light plug. Check to make sure you have power going through the plug. You can try spreading the pins a I little bit with a small screw driver on the trailer side of the plug to get a better contact, but be careful not to break them. You'll need to isolate between the truck and trailer. If it's the truck it's likely the same thing. Could be something as simple as a fuse. Or could be broken wire. Good luck!
Andy I yes I did figure it out... the power was getting lost at the pig tail, all the wires got corroded where they hook up to the back of pig tail box , I just cleaned them up a bit , got a new box hooked it all up, and done.... the box was like $20 the Phillips aluminum one.... best of luck to you...
+Florentino Balandrano I would compare it to the other ones if they're all 1700 then I'd say you're good. Some sensors from different manufactures can be a bit higher. But if only one is 1700 and the rest are 1200 then I would change that one sensor.
My Stoughton trailer has ABS illuminated and when I shut my truck off and apply the truck brake ( yellow on dash). And start rolling the light goes away and comes back on 10 miles or so down the road and have to shut down and roll again. Dealership that sold me trailer can’t seem to find the issue. Really frustrating.
I have 07 freightliner century class automatic transmission. I have 2 codes 1- 130 231 14 which is transmission reservice code. 2- 136 231 09 Brake update code . J1939 codes can be hard ones to find. If it’s coming on when it rains I would say it’s in one of the connectors for the harness that is missing the little rubber seal somewhere. Sounds like a harness issue. That’s where I would start.
great video, i have a costumer w a freighliner and a dry box trailer abs light is on the dash, i hook up my laptop and gives me no codes or perhaps no communication any advice?

Sounds like a tricky problem. I'd need to take a look to figure it out. But I'd probably start with the trailer cord, it's possible the plug is just on the verge of being worn out and your not making good contact with every trailer.
