Something I’ve noticed is that with practically every other group, the quad parts are basically the snare part but around the drums, but with Paul Rennick’s writing the quad and snare parts weave in and out and through each other and everything just flows so nicely and it’s so much more interesting to listen to.
I was surprised to see that BD had a higher composition score, if I'm not mistaken. But SCV was cleaner. BD was really on Vanguard's tail in 2017, as well.
Casella and Rennick are two reasons amongst a half-century of reasons that the first word that springs to mind when people think of SCV is "class." Also, stupendously good drum lines.
Giulz Pugs I know, but you don't see female players in the upper battery nearly as often as Male is what I'm saying. So it's cool to see one in the world's best drumline/drum corps
That girl is definitely in her comfort zone - not even breaking a sweat. Another observation: just looking at her form especially her right arm. Many snares play today "chicken-winging" with their right arm. She definitely has a natural hang to her arms and good flex in the writst. Great job! .
I think it’s a timing thing. To me it shows how the line has such a good connection between each player. SCVs timing and everything just in general is impeccable
sorry ...old school drummer here...Very clean but i dont think any individuals are as good as Tom Float line individuals of the 80s...These guys are playing too metronomic and on the backside of the beat... no pushing, no groove , no funk...1987 Vanguard line should be nit picking.
Let's also not forget in the midst of all these notes they're ramming, these guys are performing damn near cirque du soleil acrobatics now at ridiculous tempos.
A very excellent point. When I marched, leaning was about all we did. This stuff today is a 12 minute physical beatdown while playing at some insane tempos. Different times, different style.

Its beautiful
SCV loves there Spock Drum, I will say lol
@@nicholasthames14Spock supremacy
Damn nobody even close to rivals the musicality and melodic content of this writing. Its like you can hear the melody in the drum parts. UGH SO GOOD

You guys are so good!! Congrats on everything SCV!! Such a well deserved victory, and so proud of you all!!!
Jim Casella, you couldn’t be more right. These guys are amazing. But bro, that samurai show 9 years ago with cavies.....Kodo drums, was legit awesome.

Casella, if you reply to this, I'll go practice more, immediately. It would mean everything.
You're such an inspiration, and so is SCV. Thank you for everything you do
The tenors stick movements from 3:09 to 3:11 is sick!!!
consistently perfect. well-deserved Sanford award.
Although, I don't think the tenor drums cut through on the field.
Finally a line that knows how to tune a snare.
You are telling me a group from California uses innovative percussion. Nice
There's almost more groups from California using IP than there are using Vic Firth
You mean group from Denton
JONZ make me happy
FEMALE SNARE!!! SO AWESOME!!!
I don't know why you just don't see that very often
Also congrats to first place! You guys definitely deserved it
Skull Katcher Bluecoats had a female snare this season too.
It's still rare, but that's awesome
Pacific Crest had a female tenor player as well
Giulz Pugs I know, but you don't see female players in the upper battery nearly as often as Male is what I'm saying. So it's cool to see one in the world's best drumline/drum corps
Skull Katcher yeah, many of the corps this season had female drummers which was super cool to see
Waaaaaaay cleaner than BD

Those musicians are not human! Blew my mind.
The space between the last beat of the tap off and the first beat of the chunk at 2:30 🤔
Just a thing they do. Not sure why.

I like how they buzz roll down each section from tenors to bass to snares and back to bass 3:30
When did the guy from Vulfpeck start playing tenor
Badass!! Congrats Vanguard!!

Does anyone know if there is a transcription for the snare part at the horn snap?
I'm writing it. It should be out in about a week
Sam Shoemaker where will you be posting it
0:32 Cameron Cavender messed up the visual 😱 sorry, had to point it out since literally everything else is perfect 🔥
Zach Johansen I blame James Carlisle 😜
Shut up. Bitch.
i just kept waiting for something to not sound perfect and it just never came
HE'LL YEA
how do you do that visual at 0:32
Jackson Henry Sprouse slow the clip down, and copy everyone else but Cameron :P
00:48 woah😳 snareline tick? Thats unheard of.
Does anyone else just love the girl doing the visual at 3:02???
I feel bad for those tenor players. Dynasty drums are so f*cking heavy
5:11

Nothing compares to those old lines. One thing is for sure-these guys are killing it as well!
Different styles, you're comparing apples to oranges friend

Listen to this "old school drummer"; SCV's tech.
Leave Paradox and "Street Dancin'" in the 80's bro.
