@@Sunflwrbtch most of us free dive for our own, you can buy it but we are usually brought up eating it fresh straight from sea. Usually $20nzd to $25nzd in a palm size container about 1.5 inches in deep. Sometimes if in the Auckland City and we cant go dive we buy. It for the most part is a cultural food here and hasn't really caught on in Nationally or in restaurants.
My tongue was on my keyboard the whole interview. I LOVE sea urchin, but I had no idea about the vast variety of them. I hope, one day, to make an uni pilgrimage to this culinary palace
i grew up eating sea urchins , My brothers dived for them , those days they were plentiful ,nowadays u are only allowed a few to take from wherever you are diving for them , and now they are very expensive to buy . Just Mouthwatering even when they are just mentioned . 😋😋😋love ,love sea urchins . 🤩🤩🤩 🇹🇴 CHCH.

HI.....this UNI is called TIHI-TIHI in the MINDANAO muslim tausug tribes Philippines..mostly some tausug eating this specially me and my families...we love sooo much this..specially ramadan is coming..WOW!!!!should also try the CAULERPA RACEMOSA in tausug called GAMAY..its really nice with lemon and chili mixed all together..
