Yeah I couldn't agree much more here.
Ice age 1 is the best.
Ice age 2 is okay but never wish to watch it again.
Ice age 3 is good. I think it would have been a perfect conclusion.
Ice age 4 was weird, awful, and unnecessary. That was where I stopped.
Ice age 5- I have no particular desire to see it at all. Eh eh. I guess I can understand the hate of it.

In my opinion they should have stopped making films after Ice Age 3 and instead making a TV show based on the films. I think the fourth and fifth movie would work way better as TV show specials, than as theatrical movies. Especially the fifth one is too unrealistic and cartoony.

    • @JoaoPedro-pv7gw

I agree 👍👍👍. They should have make a TV show 📺 called "Ice Age: Adventures With The Herd". The 4th and 5th films would be just episodes of the series instead of theatrical feature films 🎥🎞️. Captain Gutt could have be the main antagonist of this TV show 📺. They also could have maked a spin-off TV series 📺 about Buck and would be called "The Wild Adventures Of Buck". Gavin, Gertie, Roger, and Orson also would appear in this show. Sadly FOX only cares about money 💵💴💶💷💰.

First, if I was the creator of Ice Age, Gladys wouldn't be referred to as Granny because I think that if a character has a name, he/she must be referred to by this name. So, Sid and his brother Marshall would call her "grandma Gladys", Sid's father Milton and his uncle Fungus would call her "mom", and ALL of the other characters would address her by "Mrs. Gladys", except for Teddy, who due to how romance with her, would only call her "Gladys" informally (just like he does in the real movie).
    * How Ice Age: Collision Course could have been better:
    - Julian would neither be a mammoth nor be Peaches' fiancee. Instead, he could a child from whatever species from Geotopia, who in the end would be adopted by Peaches and Louis (as mammoths and molehogs cannot biologically have childs together, but they can adopt one. Whatever Julian's species would be, he would be neither a mammoth nor a molehog to emphasize the message that the species does not matter to the family.
    - Then, Manny's sub-plot consists of the following: Peaches and Louis, already married for some time, want to adopt a child. Ellie would love the idea of the beginning, but Manny would initially be a little afraid, because he would think that Peaches is still too young to be a mother, and also that if he had a grandson, he would think he was getting too old and that soon he and Ellie would die. old age and would have no one to protect Peaches, Louis and the baby, etc. Just a few remaining traits of his overprotection with his daughter from in Continental Drift. However, after arriving in Geotopia and meeting Julian, Manny slowly but surely would develop a grandfather-grandson like relationship with him, and would become fond to him, along with Peaches, Louis and Ellie. And in the end, when Julian used his intelligence to throw the crystal at the volcano and stop the asteroid (just like in the real version), from then on, Manny would be sure that not only Peaches is be ready to be a mother , but also that Julian is the perfect grandson for him. Peaches, Louis and Ellie would shar the same opinion, and the mammoth-molehog couple would adopt him, with Manny and Ellie as be the happy and playful, yet still tough and baddass, grandparents.
    - Brooke's personality would be strong-willed and kind-hearted who takes her duty as a leader seriously, prioritizing the safety of the animals in the Geotopia. However, she could be quite short-tempered and moody, assuming things before thinking it through and sometimes would let her emotions got the better of her, a lesson which she would later learn.
Beneath Brooke's strong attitude, she would actually hide her insecurity at the prospect of becoming the next leader of Geotopia, feeling that she's not ready or good enough yet to rule. With Sid, Ellie and Shira's help, Brooke would eventually be able to overcome her inner doubts and embraces her role as leader. After becoming the leader, Brooke would grow calmer and wiser in taking action and decisions, earning her deeper respect from her subjects.
    - Sid and Brooke would initially have difficulty getting along at first due to a misunderstanding on Brooke's part, who would mistake him and his friends for enemies after Crash and Eddie accidentally causes a rockalide on the way to Geotopia due to their obsession with honey after seeing a beehive in the mountain pass. Then, after Diego almost killed and ate her right-hand man Teddy, she would forbid The Herd from entering Geotopia, disregarding that it would be Teddy who starts the fight. However, after a conversation with Shangri Llama (who, instead of a simple brief yoga comic relief, would be Brooke's mentor and guardian after her parents died when she was still a kid and would be preparing her to be the next leader of Geotopia when he passed away), she would reluctantly agree to welcome the Herd to Geotopia.
Even though Brooke would be touched by how Sid cares for his friends, she would still be quite suspicious and only would allow the Herd entry to Geotopia because of Shangri-Llama's insistence. Brooke's opinion of Sid and the Herd would worsen when she find out he and his friends have inadvertently led the Dino Birds into her home, furthering her belief the Herd would only bring trouble and she would initially wish they leave once the asteroid was stopped.
However, their relationship would improve after Sid, Manny, Diego and Buck take responsibility in fighting and eventually redeeming the Dino Birds. Since then, both would be on much friendlier term and accept each other as comrades. After Shangri Llama died (due to Teddy breaking a crystal barrier when trying to propose to Gladys, just like Sid and Brooke in the real version, causing half of the animals in Geotopia to turn into dust and die as they are more than 400 years old), Sid would proceeded to comfort Brooke, allowing her to cry on his shoulders, while similarly crying himself. Sid and Brooke would grow closer after realizing how much they have in common, particularly a shared feeling of loneliness, as Sid's family abandoned him every year and while Brooke's parents genuinely loved her, they died when she was very young, making Shangri Llama the closest thing she got to a father after that, but that wasn't still enough to end her loneliness, causing her to be externally strong and badass only to internally be lonely and insecure. This would allow Sid and Brooke to understand and help one another with their respective problem, which would in turn blossom their friendship into romantic love. When the asteroid was stopped, he would hesitate to return home after Brooke confess her wish for him to be leader alongside, and would miss him greatly when he was back in the Herd Valley. However, the Herd would decide to move to Geotopia for the sake of their relationship, which would allow Sid and Brooke to rule it together as a couple, and they would have three children in a sixth film.
    - More screen time for Diego and Shira and a sub-plot of them raising a couple of cubs, teaching them how to live and adapt to a family of vegetarian animals, and also not to eat children of other species. Also, the little twins could have a bit of a rivalry with Crash and Eddie at first, because both pairs would be playing tricks on each other, and they could rival over which duo is the best prankster. However, in the end, after working together to stop the asteroid, the two duos would become friendlier with each other, yet with still some friendly rivalry between them.
    - A sub-plot showing Gladys and Teddy's romance more developed as well, and she would get young immediately after entering Geotopia. Then, when Teddy accidentally destroys a crystal barrier while trying to propose to her (the same way as Sid and Brooke in the real film), half of the animals in Geotopia would turn to dust and die in an Infinity War-style because they are more than 400 years old, the other half which includes Brooke and Teddy would stay alive as they would have accurate ages. Gladys would stay alive, but would get old again. But in the end, she would decide to stay with Teddy, after having learned that neither age nor species doesn't matter, what matter is if she likes him or not, and she does.
    - Instead of that ending where Scrat destroys Mars, what about if he fallen in the Arctic Ocean after his UFO runs out of gas and crashed down back to Earth, where both he and his acorn would be frozen. They would be taken by the current on a beach just a few days from the Herd Valley, where Scrat will be found by the silhouette of a human boy, foreshadowing Roshan's return in a sixth film. Then, in the sixth installment, this human boy would reveal to be Roshan, who now would be a 10 years old nomad with the ability to talk to animals, and the movie would start with Roshan camping on the beach with Scrat and his acorn who would be close to the fire, melting the ice. Afterwards, Roshan would break the acorn and gives it to Scrat, who is finally able to eat it, making the squirrel fond of the boy, and thankfully hugs him. PS: I am not talking about the scene from the end of the first film. After the events of a sixth film, when he would have joined the Herd, reunited with Scratte somehow and having a family with her, then their child as a adult would freeze and the "Scrat" we see at the end of the first film would not actually be Scrat himself, but rather his and Scratte's child already grown up.

There's no humans after Ice Age 2 that my argument

    • @StoryLaboratory
      @StoryLaboratory  6 лет назад +28

If I recall correctly, the first Ice Age is the only one with humans in the story, but that's a good observation. I think the lack of humans speaks volumes, because the human child was a source of a lot of the emotion that Manny experienced in the first film. They definitely could have brought the human element back to give the later movies more of a heart.

I believe Ice Age Continental Drift had some really cool ideas not fully explored. It sort of abandoned the previous problem of too many agreeable characters by reducing the stranded group to the original trio; and by adding Shira; who is in Captain Gutt's side. However; I think the plot could have been made stronger if Peaches had had a more active and personal role; maybe by focusing on her helping her friend Louis become more independent. Louis is a very insecure character in contrast to the more outspoken and rebellious Peaches; so their personalities are nearly bound to disagree. I believe that if both of them hung out together more (and we reduced Scrat and the other teen mammoth's screentime); their role could be just as important and pay off once the final battle with Gutt took place. What's more; maybe we could add some tension if one of Gutt's minions was chasing them. Speaking of which; Gutt is a personal foe to Manny; representing almost his antithesis. However;the rivalry between the two is not the main focus; being reduced only to a couple of main scenes (in the island they barely interact); so we do not have a lot of time to see them clash. So this is also another element that would have benefited from some focus.
Sid's grandma is also an interesting addition
She loves her grandson; but can still be rough to him due to his clumsiness. Perhaps if the relationship between both had been taken more seriously and had more screentime together in the island (perhaps by postponing the final battle for a little bit or by giving them a bigger role); the conclusion between the two at the end would have been more natural.

I think it would have been better for continental drift to do more of a Balto 2 thing and have Peaches be the one on an adventure with Manny. Tectonic plates don’t move many miles within a few days, only a few centimetres in a few years. Also those siren fish that can shapeshift into any creature that they’ve never seen before but know exist freaked me the hell out. No wonder the fourth one sucked, and then the fifth one with the meteor showers and creation of the planets after.
