- Cleaning dirty EGR valve is easy. A dirty and clogged EGR valve can cause P0400, P0401 etc. A very quick short on how to clean your EGR valve. Procedure was done on a 2003 Accord, full video here • How to CLEAN your Car ...

If you want gas mileage replace it. If you want performance get rid of it
Lol
Yeah, I just capped mine off last year. Wasn't connected to anything so it was just a decorative hindrance on my 84 T/A
What about the dpf?
I don't have a diesel
That's my kind of video when figuring stuff out when u need to kno
She bakes either get chocked with carbon or the diafram splits that’s gonna last a short while that Kleened doesn’t help the diafram at all it dries it up after all that mite as well just replace it and be done
I replace when they are that bad, if the check engine light comes back on the customer expects no charge!
In this case, there was no CEL, but it failed active testing using a scanner.
So I gotta clean it? For my 07 civic? I get better gas mileage? Also do u know why my car speakers don't work? My amplifier only plays music while the rest doesn't 🤔
Depends whether it's dirty, but definitely a tune up item, including the EGR passages. On your radio depending on the schematics, check the fuses, wiring, and lastly the radio itself. Could be out.
@DIYAutoworksNG my radio is a custom radio with a screen... connected to the Amp in the trunk. Idk much cuz I didn't meet the previous owner. My dad bought the car like that when I was at work.
I see! Since there's some modification from stock, seems like the way forward would be in-person troubleshooting?
@@DIYAutoworksNG I see... I don't usually have time. During school but it's winter here. Snowing and cold. Might start during summer..
Take the egr off u don’t need it
I save $800 I follow the video instructions
Thank
That's some savings!
what about cleaning the passages in the throttle body and the intake manifold?. is not gonna do you any good just cleaning the EGR valve. those passages gets clog in time for sure.
You are absolutely right. Those should be cleaned too.
How do you get to the passages in the throttle body and intake manifold? I'm now trying to clean the EGR valve on my '96 Toyota Supercharged Estima. Until recently symptoms indicated carbon build up in the EGR: car ran fine except in the intense mid-day heat, at which the motor would start choking and would soon do more than a weak idle until I cooled the engine. However, two days ago, car just stopped starting altogether. Will fire with starting fluid but there is no fuel flow at all. Could the built-up carbon in the EGR have perhaps shifted around and have begun to clog fuel entirely? The car previously cranked fine. Was a sudden change, not gradual. Any leads on this MUCH APPRECIATED!
@@butchclay8126did you check fuel injectors, fuel pump or fuses?
that! Usialy fail for position sensor error before clogging
I see.
Aca acostumbramos a meter las partes nuevas
I clean when it's dirty, replace when it causes a code that doesn't go away with cleaning.
I have a code p0108, ford 500. It says to change/ clean map sensor. But the Ford 500 doesnt have a map. Its built in the egr valve. Only problem is getting the dang thing out
Yea, sounds like you'll have to roll up some sleeves and get that EGR/MAP thingy out for a good clean. I wonder whether some manufacturers intentionally make things a bit difficult to discourage the DIY crew🤔
That doesn’t make sense to have a manifold absolute pressure sensor on the egr valve
How will the ECU know how much fresh air is going into the intake?
MAP sensors is there to check all air going to the engine.
I used a generic old scanner and it gave me a map sensor code and it was actually the EGR
Won't do much good if the vacuum diaphram is bad inside.
Agreed. That's a different problem though.
Si hubiera mecánicos así se acabaría el mal del motor
😅
Can i use MAF cleaner?
You may try, but generally won't have enough cleaning power.
Learning everyday
Yep
Clean by throttle cleaner?
That's okay. Carb cleaner is good too
It’s funny I hit a pot hole and my egr fell off now I don’t have to worry about that pos. My truck also runs better and I don’t have to put in any def😂
😂
Wow thanks RUclips ....
You should change the package, you will also have problems later
If its carboned up, clean. If the actuator or electronics are broken, replace. Cleaning has its place.
@@DIYAutoworksNG I am commenting on past experiences, after the package leaks but it is only my opinion
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Agreed
I already do that on my honda, the result check engine lamp active again and again
You will need to scan the car to determine the reason for the check engine light.
@@DIYAutoworksNG After scan the car I got DTC result weak EGR. But 3 Times scanning with 3 different EGR signal finally I got the solution. One of the wire bad.
@@coronabeer8998are you sure it’s not the egr solenoid that’s bad? Egr valve could be perfectly fine
Can we use brake cleaner on it?
Yep
and carb cleaner
did it work after?
There was no code before. Though it failed active testing. Apparently, it hasn't reached the threshold for tripping a code.
Just bypass it... You'll do your engine a favor in the long run
I've sold the car. Lol. But I agree with your point.
@coffeetable1917 you can either force it shut or replace it with an EGR delete kit (it's basically a lid instead of the EGR)
@@soupfloodhow do you force shut? How do I do it with out a kit from the hood e
House* lol
@@mikes4596 i forced mine shut with iron wire. Don't know about yours though
Nix EGR, ( AGR ) Abgasrückführungsventil
Best thing to do with an EGR valve......delete.
Nice tips👍👍👍
Thanks!
wlcm
Yeah that didn't accomplish anything
Yooo thats crazy, my check engine light just came on with this code
If its not the electrical spectrum of the code, cleaning this and the EGR passages would help if the actuator itself is not dead.
Youarelucky ifggetitouwithout thetheboltwisting off first
Nightmare scenario
Oml… get a new gasket
Yes. That's the ideal thing. I acknowledged that in the full video.
I actually had a new gasket but didn't need to use it, and there are no EGR leaks. I think it's down to the compressible nature of the gasket.
👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Эээээ что? Снаружили почистил и все?
Delete it..
😃. Not a fan of EGR delete!
