Ditto! One thing I love about Michael is his excitement. He's like a young boy discovering new things. Even the way he walks and almost bounces around showing us things. His excitement is infectious. Michael, if I ever win the lottery, you will be coming to the east coast to design something for me!
Daytime it is pretty, nighttime it is stunning. The home owners and MG together have turned this into an oasis that will mature beautifully and be used all the time!
I love whimsy in the garden. Have fun and express yourself. Some gardens are so tidy and trimmed to perfection it doesn’t look like nature or feel like a space you can relax in. Michael’s spaces are artistic, visually stunning but retain the feeling you can relax and live in it allow the owners to express themselves. It’s why he is so great!
This backyard and especially the cantilevered deck over the pool is very Frank Lloyd Wright. Not to mention the light structures that Michael designed and had built for the homeowner - FLW always incorporated aspects of nature into his design - plants, natural light and water. This is the Michael Glassman version of Falling Water! Love every detail of this backyard!! Bravo!!!!!!!!
Janey, that pool would be amazing in your back yard when you're ready to "take the plunge", with your greenhouse positioned at the far end, much like this building at the far end of their pool. Michael Glassman's attention to detail, interest in determining exactly what's going to work for his clients' longterm enjoyment of their yards, and unbridled enthusiasm always makes every one of us wish he was also our personal friend! We can't get enough of him! Those lightboxes are beyond beautiful!
He takes it to another level, all the elements. California backyards are very unique with so many challenges as we know, there is so much inspiration in this space.
Oh my! 😮it’s stunning!!❤I love how Michael designed that yard. I wish he would look at my huge yard and tell me what to do😊 I love this video, Thank you for sharing.
I really enjoy your videos -love you and Jason. Michael is so special and I just drool, but I also learn while drooling :) He has such an infectious enthusiasm, but then again so do you. It’s just fun and beautiful.
This is by far my favorite tour you've shown. This is like my dream house (from what I can see) AND dream garden/patio. STUNNING!!! Michael Glassman, you are a genius!
Thanks for the beautiful 😍 landscape tour and it was amazing 🤩!! I love the tower lights that lights up in the dark 😊!! Thank you Janey and Michael 🙏!!
I love your videos, so much inspiration to help in our planning. Would really appreciate a plant list of what you’re showing in the videos so I can research what might work for our property.
Wow another fabulous garden by Michael the man is a legend every design he does is just outstanding its beautifull and at night wow thankyou for sharing this xx
Michael Glassman never comes short ❤ Everything he produces is well thought of, down to the detail. He had just sparked a light in my brain 😂 since I’m not crazy about the light towers being made out of wood and looking too modern for my liking. My damn expensive taste takes me to perforated metal sheets with a design that matches the owner’s personality or surroundings, then to attach only one warm light panel hidden in the ceiling of the structure 😊 The tower can be square or triangle of any size. As well as any height. Just imagine the soft light reflecting your design on the ground. Yummy 😋 I think I will make this happen soon. Thank you both 💕🥰
Beautiful landscape design! I had acres of native coastal Redwoods and oaks, but planted a trio of redwoods in my fern garden. I grew ferns, foxglove, and rhododendrons surrounding this “family“. Forget-me-not, Trillium, Douglas, Iris, and wild hazelnuts were all native growers that also flourished and surrounded these redwoods. So while you do need to be mindful of the root system of redwoods, you can grow underneath them. The one thing I would recommend is never plant a single redwood. Ideally, they need a group to maintain good root stability over their lifetime. In this case, Michael was working around an established, not newly planted, redwood so his use of raised beds respected the integrity of the tree’s root system.❤Love the fence design and the graduated height.
The light towers are beautiful! I’d be cautious with lighting… studies show that artificial light at night deters pollinators from their nightly routine. They are disoriented by artificial light, expending precious energy and distracting them from their nighttime routines and pollination duties. I’ve removed tree up lighting in my garden and have only low voltage solar path lighting. We installed an owl box at another property, and this week we will be installing a bat house made from all recycled wood by our neighbor. Respecting the needs of night flying and foraging creatures is extremely important. I would love to see you feature a garden that combines all these important attributes. Thanks for the beautiful tour. Love the before and after!❤
@@staciejackson7497 all of my lighting is low voltage solar path lighting directed downward. Everything else is motion detection generated. I am 100% supportive of the night sky initiative..👍🏻
I’m wondering if the raised planters will be full of fine roots from the redwood tree in a short time unfortunately. It’s a beautiful yard, especially at night. Well done Michael.
I just searched it up and the name is Maytenus boaria (Mayten Tree). This plant makes it a good substitute for the Weeping Willow and unlike the water thirsty willow, the Maytens roots are not invasive, though it has a tendency to sucker if roots are damaged. To prevent this, avoid cultivating around the tree and promote deep rooting. Plant in full sun and irrigate deeply and infrequently to encourage the roots to grow deeply. It is cold hardy to around 20 degrees F. Mature Mayten trees seem to resent heavy prunning and we have been told that this treament can actually kill a tree. Habit and Cultural Information Category: Tree Family: Celastraceae (Bittersweets) Origin: Chile (South America) Evergreen: Yes Flower Color: Insignificant Bloomtime: Not Significant Height: 20-30 feet Width: 15-20 feet Exposure: Full Sun Deer Tolerant: Yes Irrigation (H2O Info): Medium Water Needs Winter Hardiness: 20-25° I hope this helps, have a great day!
Love your channel. Long time viewer. You might want to address youtube algorithm on your end because I am getting inappropriate "growing" ads when I try to watch your videos. Can't fix it on my end. Thought you should know.
Hi Stacie! So sorry that’s happening! Unfortunately we don’t have any control over which brands or businesses can advertise on the channel. It’s all decided by Google/RUclips. Hopefully the algorithm will shift soon and you will start seeing better ads!
@@Jason_DPWR hopefully you could check with youtube again...the ads are not something that should be popping up in a family safe video that kids are sometimes in....sorry I am being vague..but if your girls happened upon it you would be shocked. Hope that helps. I do love your channel.

What kind of phone do you record with? Your footage always looks so clear and colorful even in the bright sun.
Not my style, but very nicely done! I wish we could see the inside too, haha! Love the light towers.
MG we want you!!!!!

So beautiful! I would love to know where the porcelain tiles are from.
Daltile
My grandparents are the owners!
They have such a beautiful yard. Do you know where they purchased the light towers feature.
I am very interested in the outdoor tile! Where can they be found?
Would love to know what that greenery is planted around the big tree? Is that in a raised bed?
❤
What is growing all over the base of the redwood? Suckers?
Can I get a link to the fans in the cazebo?
bellissimo giardino davvero! non ho capito come si chiama l'albero che assomiglia ad un salice piangente, qualcuno può scrivermelo? grazie
