So glad this video finally got unblocked, because I have been dying to release this AMAZING voice of Sohyang! Can't wait to dive deeper into her Music Catalogue!
This was the Version from "WestLife" he gentleman at 05:45 was Shane Filan of the Irish boy band "Westlife", who also had "You Raise Me Up" as a hit in Great Britain. This episode on Immortal Song 2 is Shane Filan Special so all the invited singers performed his songs with their own interpretation. the pre-performance interview segment, Sohyang mentioned that this rendition represents her personal story, presumably about her faith. If her Arirang Alone gives you a trip about Korean history, Sohyang's masterful "You Raise Me Up" delivered a spiritual journey.
Listen to ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ sung by Sohyang. The arrangement is good and the song is really good. The RUclips title is "[HIT] 불후의명곡2 - 소향, 사이먼 앤 가펑클의 ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.20150509". The uploader is "KBS Kpop". ruclips.net/video/C6iHh4yBxCo/видео.html
You will find that this is just an "average" performance for Sohyang when it comes to her epics i.e. 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'I Have Nothing', 'Lean On Me', and the uncomparable 'Everyone' (make sure to use the Vimeo version w/ CC on). However, as impressive as all of those are, her performances on the show 'Begin Again' busking with a small gorup of musicians and singers around Korea are mind-blowing. Her subtle and delicate choices in the stripped-down acoustic arrangements are just beautiful. In a group of excellent singers she stands out prominently. I would suggest 'I Will Always Love You' (she sings the sax solo), 'If I Ain't Got You', 'Never Enough', and any of the others on this playlist ruclips.net/p/PL0qKlaJIAGmkqREjAcO-g0SU1VG4iFcoo
She is not just singing. She always touches my heart. There are other singers who have such a high note, and they can surprise me. But Sohyang, she can make me tear up. Perfect technique, Perfect high note, perfect emotion and Perfect stage presence. She always sings with her sincerity and takes all the audiences to her own place. Let's go to "Bridge over the troubled water" and "Lean on me" from the same TV show. You will meet another best-ever cover : ) *However she is not the female version of Dimash. She is just Sohyang. Thank you for giving chance to Sohyang 💜
@@youcefkenane8973 Yeah, how could Sohyang be a female version of Dimash? Sohyang sang a song for lulling a baby to sleep when Dimash could only be creeping with his dispper.
This song was actually originally written and performed by Secret Garden (lyrics by Brendan Graham). Josh Groban is one of several hundred covers. This performance was on a show which celebrates and brings in famous singers from around the world whose songs the contestants have to reinterpret. The guest this particular episode was Shane Filan, a former member of the Irish boyband Westlife who also covered this song.
Sohyan is a Queen of Queens she us Cancer survivor she so strong and angelic at the same time and she make the arrangement with her team she's a prodigy
So Hyang is one of the best singers EVER, there is no discussion. You should react to her powerful performances: Bridge Over trouble water (on inmortal songs) I have Nothing (DMC festival) Arirang Alone (inmortal songs)
Congratulations! You've found one of the greatest vocalist of all time :) And you wouldn't believe how humble and warm heart she has. Thank you so much for reacting to Sohyang.
This song was composed by Rolf Lovland of Secret Garden, their music is an Irish/Norwegian fusion. I saw them in concert, it was an unforgettable evening.
Thank you for your Wonderful reaction to this Beautiful Lady ! Ahead of describing her as a Unbelievable Performer, I would say ,SoHyang is just a Wonderful , kind, caring and humble Lady! She is a Fighter too! So many road blocks , hardships on her Path! She was advised to not do this Performance, by her Doctor! You see she was still battling the last stages of Pneumonia! She remembered back when she was struggling with depression, after her Father left her Mother and Her! She remembered listening to Whitney, Celine and her favourite, Mariah! The comfort and peace their voices had brought her! She had been told and witnessed herself, the effect her voice also seemed to have on her Audiences ! So she said,”I must Perform as someone out in that crowd may need to hear my message in this song and I Promised, God, after he saved my life, that that is exactly what I would do with my second chance at life! So she did! She gave it her all as did those around her! She had Pneumonia 8 times over an 5 year period and battled through! She thought about quitting but while recovery I g one time. She was visiting her sister-in-law in the USA , and one day came across a Banner of a quote from former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, that said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” She knew God was telling her if she quit now she may regret her choice in the future! So she headed back to Korea and signed up for , “The King of Masked Singer”, that she had been asked to join! She set a new record for consecutive wins by a women with seven segment wins and gaining a huge fan base! Though she never set out to be a professional singer, she had come to dream of being a Big Star in America! She said she had many arguments with, God , over her desire! God won and on three separate occasions she has turned down contracts with big record companies(most recently with Sony Music) She states that she had convinced herself the fame was to better serve God and reach more people who suffered! She said ,God had said it was that she was becoming prideful and wanted it for herself and that she still had work to do and a contract with a big company would restrict her and push her into more sickness! She said she agreed and had to keep humility! Her Friend and Father-in-Law has been her Manager for years now! She doesn’t like the term ,” Manager”, so usually calls him, “Her Biggest Supporter” and points out her, “Best Friend”, also helps out a great deal, to. That person she describes as her,” Best Friend”, is her Mother-in-Law( she just calls them, Mom and Dad! Both of them are Christian Ministers Her Husband and Her live in his Parents home! They each have a floor of their own with another floor for a practice area and recording studio ! Her Husband(Kim Hee-jun) is a Drummer and Producer( she started out in his Family Christian Music Band, POS. , which also included her Sister-in-Laws ! She discovered she had cervical cancer at twenty, just after her marriage, which left her unable to naturally bear children and also with Hepatitis due to tainted blood she had received! She is a devote Christian,ls a successful published Author of Fantasy Novels, Part time teacher of Voice and Performance at Baekseok University in Cheonan City, she also likes to design and make things( did interior design in their home ) , she plays guitar and is a genius at arrangements, she and her team arrange all her songs though she says it is a team thing and involves many( her husband is involved , and also in song selection! Sorry I get carried away talking about this woman and her Family! I particularly love her songs in Korean ( I do not speak or understand Korean, but with her you Feel the song) Can never pick just one favourite, I have at least 20 favourites! I think the song I last listened to is my Favourite! Here are two songs she wrote one about following her in never giving up on your Dreams( the song title is Dream and her nickname is Dreamer) The other is called, The Day is Sunny Kiss( about the sunny day when at 18 she met and fell in love with,”Jesus”!) vimeo.com/312061203 ruclips.net/video/YqVy2lmNpA4/видео.html&feature=share Note that on , Dream, the intro is not hers but is called, Diablo and is also featured in the movie, the Mummy, from a few years ago!
Tom.. Like many, I’ve dropped req & have hoped you would hear & see ♥️ SoHyang, who you’re right… she’s special! THX’s what a phenomenal reaction ♥️ You get it!
Cogratulations, you just discovered a gem. Sohyang is one of the best female vocalists currently on the planet. This incredible arrangement is hers (she does all the arrangements for her performances, together with her team). What is even more incredible is that she was actually recovering from pneumonia when she sang this. Thank you for a great reaction and welcome to the amazing world of Sohyang.
There's something special about this Korean show "Immortal Songs". They do amazing renditions of popular songs. Go check out the duet performance by Bae Dahae and Paul Potts.
Yes sir in my opinion one of the best soulful and wonderful singer in the world. I completely agree with you Dimash best man singer and SoHyang best woman singer in the world.
the craziest thing is this might not make my top 15 Sohyang performances. Check out her singing her own song, "Stay", on the show Begin Again which was recorded last year during the pandemic. Truly beautiful song and performance.
Thanks a lot for this video. I listened this Gospel song many times from her. It is really graceful and deep inspired emotion because she is one of sincere Christian.
Your expression consisted of all kinds of nerves listening to music. Your reaction to music sincerely is the best. If it's always like this, you can be the god of your reaction. I am also a sincere fan of Sohyang. Thank you.
I was hoping to introduce you to Sohyang on the livestream yesterday but you already knew her. 👍 So you found another gem, Tom, and I'm glad she is on your channel now. In my opinion she's on par with the big names like Celine, Whitney and Mariah. She's not only an incredible singer but also a very humble, down to earth human being who is not chasing the fame and money. If you are looking for a song with Asian vibes then check out her cover of the traditional Korean song Arirang alone. It's a beautiful song. But you can't go wrong with anything sung by the wonderful Sohyang. "Everyone" and "Where are you" are also fantastic. If you would like to react to any of these two song please go to vimeo because there are versions with English subs.
Thank you for your reaction. Welcome to the world of Sohyang. She is one of the best in the world. Please react. 1. Everyone: This is the most difficult song in her life, Sohyang said. This song is a total set of all the techniques. 2. Lean on me: This song was performed in front of Michael Bolton. After the performance, Michael Bolton said. Sohyang is on the level of a master. Sohyang said her wish is to do a duet with Michael Bolton here. Later, Michael Bolton invited Sohyang to his concert and performed a duet together. If you look at the video, you'll be able to see the incredible improvisation of Sohyang in the duet. 3. Bridge over troubled water: It's a song of full emotion that doesn't need words. 4. Arirang alone: A song that expresses Korean emotions well, a movie-like song, a song that hit B flat5 with chest sound, I recommend it. 5. I have nothing : Another level!! 6. recently : Amazing Grace, I will always love you. 7. * Rap * : Day Day!!!!
I really want many people to request ‘NPR’, the tiny desk show to invite SoHyang to their show to perform! It will bring so much solace, hope & joy to people all over the world in this hard times!
This song was originally composed by Norweigan - Irish duo, Secret garden. Rolf Lovland was the composer and Brendan Graham, the Lyricist. This beautiful song has been performed by dozens of Artists Worldwide including Josh Groban. At around 6.40 you can see the camera zoom in on Shane Filan from the Global Irish `Boy Band`, Westlife, who first really put this song on the map with a wonderful performance. Sohyang has a fantastic voice and sings with so much emotion, and does a great job here, even if it`s not my favourite interpretation. I just think the original is so good that it does not need to be altered in any major way. That is not to take away anything from her performance here. She is a star.
Thank you for react on Sohyang. What you've already said it's truly true, one hundred percent. Once again thank you for a great reaction. See you on more of her. Stay safe xx
i could seriously watch you listen to sohyang, dimash, & katrina velarde all day long. you will learn much about the earth angel known as sohyang from her adoring fans, but i will contribute this much: this woman's spirit, soul, gumption, endurance, warmth, love, & selflessness seriously have kept me going at times, not even joking in the slightest. sohyang stated she sings to bring joy to others & i've yet to see a performance from her that proves otherwise. her clarity & pure tonality in her head voice are extraordinary, but the power in her vibrato is also something else (likely part of the whitney vibe you were picking up on). she has covers of whitney's "i have nothing" (2015 dmc festival), & "i will always love you" (live, begin again korea concert series) that are some of my favorites of her's. i could tell you felt the vibe her soul is putting out there into this chaotic world; please continue to feel & enjoy it with us all. ♥️
Hi, you have just discovered the best female singer, in my opinion! I suggest you to listen Sohyang's cover I have nothing, or I always love you... Goosebumps the whole performance! And of course, welcome to Sohyang's world!😃
Eversince I started to hear her sing, she's now my top favourite female singer. Songs from her like Bridge over troubled water, Lean on me, Arirang alone & Everyone... They are mind boggling
Welcome to the world of Sohyang, Tom! 😁 I am still amazed of how she could pull this off in her recovery state from pneumonia. Can't wait for you to get to my staple favorite of hers soon, it's Bridge Over Troubled Water. 😊
The Whitney and Mariah comparison is literally the most common thing you hear people say. Her influences are very apparent in her style. She is a rare human. She's always heavily involved in the arrangements she sings, she has absolutely incredible technique that is essentially self taught. She's written fantasy novels, and so much more. She could be touring the world making millions, but instead, every performance she gives is something she chooses specifically to do. Her music is not for making money, it's for comforting those in need. And in every performance, you can see she completely connects to the song she's singing. Her musicality and technique are born out of years of singing and her sheer passion for expressing herself through song.
We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself (with the input of her musical assistants), teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese. Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a survivor of uterine cancer from the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in South Korea or Japan. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Because of this she is prone to catching pneumonia but has sang perfectly while suffering from it in her live performance of “You Raise Me Up” before Shane Filan of Westlife on South Korean TV: ruclips.net/video/te_L9ofhUt8/видео.html She has asked those who love her singing to pray that God keep pneumonia away from her, she has suffered from it on so many occasions. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere! She just turned 43 on April 5, 2021, though in Korean culture she would be 44 because you are deemed to be one year old when you are born. She was about 37 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone”, their unofficial national anthem based on a 600 year old folk song expressing their desire to reunify north and south: vimeo.com/308253527 While being sick with pneumonia eight times from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she chastised herself and entered a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international fame from the performances being posted on RUclips. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on RUclips and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted So Hyang and arranged for her to share eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. (For those who don't know, David Foster was Whitney Houston's producer for her albums, wrote "I Have Nothing", her most iconic song, and is probably the most famous and influential music producer in the world. He places So Hyang right beside Whitney and the rest of the top tier divas.) Here is the interview where So Hyang related the events: ruclips.net/video/EqeE_1nP-Kk/видео.html (Be sure to turn on English subtitles.) Here is the version of “I Have Nothing” Oprah, David Foster and the rest watched on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/T4UyIMkdy4M/видео.html She preceded it with this blockbuster: vimeo.com/312061203 She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 which both say “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” In a South Korean television interview So Hyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into the basement in her home numerous times and locking the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems and other unforeseeable events. Then she later saw a Korean TV drama where the talented daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father retired. But he left the management of the company to a woman she hated, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. So Hyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing self-destructive character by withholding international celebrity status from her. By her own admission, she was a miserable person to be around. ruclips.net/video/rl-jX9kBsEs/видео.html (Again, turn on English subtitles.) So as a consequence she no longer pursues fame or fortune and actually has no social media presence whatsoever. What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her! And whether she wants it or not, fame has overtaken her, backed up and run her over again! On Oct. 5, 2020, it was revealed that So Hyang turned down _yet another_ contract offer, this time from Sony Music. www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20200921000995 “Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said. “I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.” “And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via RUclips, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.” So Hyang is just the most amazing singer, Christian and human being. She is beautiful both inside and out, and so humble, open and genuine, with a stage charisma, facial expressions and smile that is off the charts. In Korean dictionaries 소 향 (So Hyang) has several meanings. • First is a type of Korean traditional music. • Second is to burn incense on a burner. • Third is to go toward. But these meanings are rarely used today and hers is a quite uncommon name. 소 향 is also the name of a heroine in a Korean traditional novel. So in retrospect her name was well chosen, and you can take your pick! Please analyze her performance of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”: ruclips.net/video/C6iHh4yBxCo/видео.html Also, please react to her version of “The Power of Love”: ruclips.net/video/LrNkVRrK7_I/видео.html Plus this beautiful duet with her friend Lee Hi where they do Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”: vimeo.com/439148918 And this version of her singing “Oh Holy Night”: vimeo.com/322716334 Here she performs “Lean On Me” before Michael Bolton, who called her a vocal “virtuoso” after her performance: ruclips.net/video/GvsgCllcNPE/видео.html This is a wonderful Jazz inflected performance of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow”: ruclips.net/video/H1vppvq_F-8/видео.html Wait until you see her duet of David Foster's “The Prayer” with Jeong Ui Geu: ruclips.net/video/rte-q3kunp8/видео.html This song of hers "Everyone" is dumbfounding: ruclips.net/video/H5e7MPre7iY/видео.html And finally “Will You Be There”: ruclips.net/video/nBdSpexUxik/видео.html Here’s an English language interview with her that I’m sure you will enjoy: ruclips.net/video/N2u_pmoWxj8/видео.html Her English is perfect when she sings and almost perfect when she is doing interviews. She actually taught herself to speak English from watching Disney's "The Little Mermaid" about "one hundred times" when she was a kid, has a perfect North American accent and a bubbly personality. OK, I’ll stop gushing now. Well, one more gush. In an interview with a Turkish music producer So Hyang's assistants revealed (a bit to her chagrin, as she is a self-effacing person) that she can hit Eb7 and D7 in practise. However, she never goes above the 6th octave in performances. Since she starts at D3 that is more than a 4 octave range ... so how about them apples???! Here it is: ruclips.net/video/VnPAkryrygQ/видео.html I know, bananas isn’t it? Oh, I just remembered, she has also had several fantasy novels published, as well as a theological treatise on the book of Revelation, and is a very good stage actress, which she proved by playing Julie Andrews’ part in the South Korean production of “The Sound of Music.” Moreover, she sang the “Moana” part in the Korean version of the Disney film, does the musical vocals for many South Korean television dramas, and is a talented artist and cartoonist. She can also play the piano and guitar. Is there anything this genius level woman can’t do? Though she is less than 5' 4" and probably not even 100 pounds, So Hyang simply transcends the thresholds of music and takes you there with her. She becomes the song when she sings it and then re-emerges when she is done. An experience like no other. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve spent _entire days_ listening to her, and shed more than a few tears of joy along the way. She is indeed akin to an addictive substance you can't live without. I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people So Hyang works with. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear and it is important to note that, as these are _essential_ parts of any great music production. The Korean people are easily as talented as anyone else. As you can see, I am a shameless fan. 😉
@@sos-dc You are very welcome! A person like So Hyang should be celebrated as the great artist she is--and the humble human being who puts her trust in God, too! 😉
@@ToddSauve I total agree...!! So great to see someone like Sohyang using the God given talent the right way... Just glad that we are living in the age where people all around the world can appreciate her...
Very well written biography/discography lol, along w/ your other comment. Just a heads up, on the part about her name, it doesn't necessarily actually mean any of the 3 definitions you listed there. Those 3 are words used in common vernacular/spoken language and are actual real words. But (korean) names on the other hand, aren't necessarily actual real world words that you can look up in a dictionary. As you probably know, Korean names (similarly to Chinese names) are almost always 3 syllables/words/names, w/ the 1st being their sur/family/last name, & the next 2 being their first name, i.e. So Hyang (소향). And also like Chinese names, they are usually written/correspond to Chinese characters, altho they are not usually used in normal everyday circumstances. It's usually just on your birth certificate or to clarify to a curious person, almost never actually written down whenever you are asked for your name. You usually just write it in korean (chinese characters in general have pretty much gone out of use for the most part in korea). Now, the reason I mention this is because (korean) names are a bit different from just regular words. Each part of the name does mean something, but separately. When used together they can mean another word entirely. An example would be the word _typhoon,_ which actually originates from East Asian languages. It is made up of two words, "ty" = great/big, and "phoon" = wind. As you can guess, when used together, they mean what we're all familiar with, something akin to a hurricane. Now that's a very straightforward example. But names are different. Because they don't necessarily have to actually mean a real word when used together. In the case of So-Hyang, her name would consist of "So" and "Hyang", duh obviously lol. Now, the tricky part is that there are usually many different Chinese/Korean characters/words/morphemes that have the same pronunciation, but mean totally different things, are 2 completely different words. This is very common in many other languages as well. An example in English would be...in the spirit of this song/video, "raise". It can mean "lift up", or "get a raise", i.e. receive higher pay for your job. Maybe not the best example since they're kinda related in concept, but you get the idea. Or how about "park", as in "go to the park" vs. "park your car". Or "race", i.e. "horse race" vs. "heart is racing" vs. "ethnicity". Or "can", i.e. "can of soup" vs. "I can do this", etc. I'm sure you can think of many other examples in your own native language. For So-Hyang, the most common use of "So" would be for the word "small/little". While a common meaning for "Hyang" would be "scent/fragrance". Another common one would mean "direction", e.g. north, south, east, west, or "towards something/in the direction of", or "destination". As you can see, these 2 meanings sort of correspond/hint at dictionary definitions #2 and #3 respectively, of those you listed. But when used together, they might not make too much logical sense, or aren't as straightforward. "Small scent" = incense? Hmm ok sure, kinda makes sense. But "little direction/destination = ?? Then again, at the same time, I can't exactly be sure, since I would have to see the actual chinese characters to see which ones are used in her name. But one thing is for sure, most/almost all korean names are simply not in the dictionary or correspond to actual real words. That would be kinda...cheesy? (e.g. "Hi, my name is Burning Incense. Oh hi, my name is Skyscraper, nice to meet you, lol). Altho So Hyang is a bit of an uncommon exception, since it actually _does_ correspond to real world definitions, but that's kinda rare, which can make it all the more confusing, I know :/. But then again, you could be right, maybe her name _does_ mean one of the above, I really don't know. But yea, usually they are 2 separate words/meanings which can be open to interpretation, whose exact meaning/intent only the parents who gave them that name would know. So they are a bit poetic in that sense. Sorry for the long post lol, hope it helps. Still very happy that you are showing so much interest in her though, love to see such a huge fan. I guess fans just can't help fanning lol. Oooh that's another example of dual meaning/double entendre!
It is a well known back-ground story that, at the time of this incredible performance, she was going through very tough time because of pneumonia. And she was actually considering to retire entirely because of pain and everything... She confessed later that, before the stage, all she could do was praying to the lord that she would not mess up this beautiful song ㅜㅜ This is why you can hear the slight huskiness of her voice at the very beginning of the performance. Knowing that and listening to the lyrics, you can imagine what she was thinking when she was performing... There is no doubt that she is the living example of how the lord works on us. Thank you for this fantastic reaction vid. Great job!
Hello Tom ^^ I'm a fan of SoHyang .. Thank you for letting her know Her song always gives hope to everyone :)) Next plz .. SoHyang's "I won't give up" ^~^

Still I can't believe that she was really sick because she has pneumonia.
She was very sick at this time with pneumonia and she sang like this. THE BEST in this planet
"It's on another universe" Can't stop LOL after having tears listening to the song.

Yeahhh she is herself i hate when they say that she is a female version of dimash she is better
@@youcefkenane8973 Yeah, how could Sohyang be a female version of Dimash? Sohyang sang a song for lulling a baby to sleep when Dimash could only be creeping with his dispper.
agree 1000%
She touches my soul.
Absolutely Agree, Sohyang's talent is the same as Whitney, Mariah and Celine combined. 😌 Queen Sohyang 💖👑
can we all just take a minute and appreciate her back up background choir...absolutely flawless!
Love your reaction! Thanks for sharing your joy! I can feel it.
소향님 저때 나가면 안됐었는데 나갔습니다 저당시 폐렴때문에 병원에 입원한 상태라 그런데도 불구하고 저렇게 열창했지요
Her unique and crystal clear innocent voice can touches people's heart who's having a difficult times!! It's a blessing to get to know her!!
This song was actually originally written and performed by Secret Garden (lyrics by Brendan Graham). Josh Groban is one of several hundred covers. This performance was on a show which celebrates and brings in famous singers from around the world whose songs the contestants have to reinterpret. The guest this particular episode was Shane Filan, a former member of the Irish boyband Westlife who also covered this song.
wow sohayng voice is beautiful😍👍
You need to hear her sing, I Have Nothing, you will be in SHOCK. Welcome to the world of SoHyang.

@@stephongrowingup6073 Beyonce is much better well rounded vocalist, but Sohyang is still an incredible vocalist.
Totally agree
Not even close to Whitney! Listen to Whitney sing I Have Nothing or I Will Always Love You! Whitney’s a black American icon of song!

I heard her sing live in chuch,

장훈이형 여기 왜나와
I think that this song is the best of best of best song by Sohyang(Her real name is Sohyang Kim - 김소향). It is soooooo emotional.
진짜 국보급~~~
So Hyang is one of the best singers EVER, there is no discussion.
You should react to her powerful performances:
Bridge Over trouble water (on inmortal songs)
I have Nothing (DMC festival)
Arirang Alone (inmortal songs)
Congratulations! You've found one of the greatest vocalist of all time :) And you wouldn't believe how humble and warm heart she has. Thank you so much for reacting to Sohyang.
I agree, she has control of vocals.
This song was composed by Rolf Lovland of Secret Garden, their music is an Irish/Norwegian fusion. I saw them in concert, it was an unforgettable evening.
Welcome to Queen’s world~!!
Sounds like an angel!
God won and on three separate occasions she has turned down contracts with big record companies(most recently with Sony Music)
She states that she had convinced herself the fame was to better serve God and reach more people who suffered! Her Husband(Kim Hee-jun)
is a Drummer and Producer( she started out in his Family Christian Music Band, POS. , which also included her Sister-in-Laws !
Here are two songs she wrote one about following her in never giving up on your Dreams( the song title is Dream and her nickname is Dreamer) The other is called, The Day is Sunny Kiss( about the sunny day when at 18 she met and fell in love with,”Jesus”!)

Amazing reaction! She is beyond amazing!

퀸소향 ~👍
I really want many people to request ‘NPR’, the tiny desk show to invite SoHyang to their show to perform!
It will bring so much solace, hope & joy to people all over the world in this hard times!
She sang with Josh! There’s a clip on RUclips somewhere.
A warm welcome to Sohyang world, you just started your journey to another world.
You can try Sohyang - bridge over trouble water
I totally agree with you.... Love your reaction!!!
i could seriously watch you listen to sohyang, dimash, & katrina velarde all day long. you will learn much about the earth angel known as sohyang from her adoring fans, but i will contribute this much: this woman's spirit, soul, gumption, endurance, warmth, love, & selflessness seriously have kept me going at times, not even joking in the slightest.
sohyang stated she sings to bring joy to others & i've yet to see a performance from her that proves otherwise.
her clarity & pure tonality in her head voice are extraordinary, but the power in her vibrato is also something else (likely part of the whitney vibe you were picking up on).
she has covers of whitney's "i have nothing" (2015 dmc festival), & "i will always love you" (live, begin again korea concert series) that are some of my favorites of her's.
i could tell you felt the vibe her soul is putting out there into this chaotic world; please continue to feel & enjoy it with us all. ♥️
Those are my top three as well. As well as Régine Velasquez.

I love your reaction. You understand how great her singing is.
Phenomonal performance. She definitely deserves to be the Queen vocalist in all times!
I love her! So glad you found her. She is fabulous 😍 ♥
Welcome to the world of Sohyang. I was like your reaction at first. Thanks for the reaction video.
Speaking of Whitney, Sohyang does a killer version of, " I Will Always Love You."😎
Welcome to the world of Sohyang, Tom! 😁
I am still amazed of how she could pull this off in her recovery state from pneumonia. Can't wait for you to get to my staple favorite of hers soon, it's Bridge Over Troubled Water. 😊
I did that one on stream yesterday, so it should be uploaded this week!
"HE" raised her up. :)
Sound Of Heaven Yielding ANGel. Thank you for your professional analysis and excellent reaction.
world top singer
She was about 37 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone”, their unofficial national anthem based on a 600 year old folk song expressing their desire to reunify north and south: vimeo.com/308253527
While being sick with pneumonia eight times from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she chastised herself and entered a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international fame from the performances being posted on RUclips.
He places So Hyang right beside Whitney and the rest of the top tier divas.)
Here is the interview where So Hyang related the events: ruclips.net/video/EqeE_1nP-Kk/видео.html (Be sure to turn on English subtitles.)
Here is the version of “I Have Nothing” Oprah, David Foster and the rest watched on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/T4UyIMkdy4M/видео.html
She preceded it with this blockbuster: vimeo.com/312061203
She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 which both say “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
In a South Korean television interview So Hyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into the basement in her home numerous times and locking the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems and other unforeseeable events. By her own admission, she was a miserable person to be around. ruclips.net/video/rl-jX9kBsEs/видео.html (Again, turn on English subtitles.)
So as a consequence she no longer pursues fame or fortune and actually has no social media presence whatsoever.
What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her! And whether she wants it or not, fame has overtaken her, backed up and run her over again!
On Oct. 5, 2020, it was revealed that So Hyang turned down _yet another_ contract offer, this time from Sony Music. www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20200921000995
“Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said.
“I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.”
“And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via RUclips, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.”
So Hyang is just the most amazing singer, Christian and human being.

And finally “Will You Be There”: ruclips.net/video/nBdSpexUxik/видео.html
Here’s an English language interview with her that I’m sure you will enjoy: ruclips.net/video/N2u_pmoWxj8/видео.html Her English is perfect when she sings and almost perfect when she is doing interviews.
This is by far most detailed description of Sohyang I've seen... Thank you!!
Thank you.
So Hyang is one of d best female vocalist around. A master of her own instrument... Can stand toe-to-toe with Mariah Carrey, Whitney Houston

I want her to be recognized all over the world.
Great job!
