Both the exercises and the games are very practical so dog owners may use them throughout the day to have a well-trained dog. There are training nuggets throughout, both in the step-by-step instructions ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfKlzfzw0sMZ_RgZNzMeOPu6d4b5i5XWl and the troubleshooting sections that will help enrich the lives of both dogs and their owners!

People really try to say “a long lead doesn’t teach them boundaries” like you don’t necessarily have to teach your dog boundaries. You just have to teach your dog to listen to you in every situation

I felt that last part. My puppy was so good in following me when young. Now that she's six months she's still good but there is a small tendency not to listen sometimes, which makes it frustrating. Going back to the long leash until she's "back again" 100%!

Great training session Inertia and Zac. It’s all coming together nicely. Plenty of good information in here. I like to mix it up exactly the same as you are doing here. Training can become a bit negative even using positive techniques, if you keep on monotonously using the same formatted training sessions day after day. Keep it real and allow the dog to also display natural behaviours. Training like this will create a great relationship with your dog and this is ultimately the difference between a good dog and a great dog. Training in itself won’t necessarily get you there. The other trainers on social media haven’t dared expose themselves in the way you have Zac. So massive RESPECT from Steve Bulled over in the UK 🇬🇧

Is it weird that I like dog training videos? I don't have a dog.. but I have a cat that's more dog than cat. He's "crate trained" likes to go in and lay down in his cage (which we take him to the vet in) and play in it. I take him on car rides sometimes. I walk him on a leash and harness outside (because he goes running off if I don't put it on, and we have a main road up the street). He eats his food like a vaccum cleaner- super food motivated, I've taught him how to "gimme paw". He'll eat almost anything and dig in trash cans/rip open trash bags so we have to keep an eye on him. He took part of a breakfast burrito out of the trash and ran off with it, and did not want to take his jaws off it lol. He's a handful, but I love him anyway. Anyway, Inertia is a YEAR old already?! Wow.. time flies! She's super well trained, you did a great job!

Thank you for this! When my dog was younger she did really well on and off leash even in new places, but after getting attacked a few times and us moving around a lot. She's started to not listen when we are out and about. It's been frustrating to take her places because she's so anxious and I never know how she'll respond, but this gives me confidence that I'll be able to take her out in public more often again.

I am so frustrated right now. Our 11 months old Japanese Spitz is hyper excitable. When we go out she pulls like crazy on the leash especially in the beginning of the walk. I now walk her mainly on a 9m leash and do bits of leash training on a short leash once she starts getting tired.
She also barks a lot outside and in our garden. She is a keen hunter and racescsfter and barks at birds a lot. I have been working on training her but it's really hard. I think she is anxious, too and so I am working on calming already before we leave the house. She quickly gets bored with toys so can't entice her with frisbees and balls. She is such hard work, I am exhausted 😩. At the same time she is super cute and at home where she feels safe she will sit, lie down, hug, turn around, give paw and high five, stands, stays for a little while...

    Awesome video! Thank you!
Those dog treats seem better than most!!!
One note on dog food: our society has forgotten that dogs are carnivorous. Like lions. Would you give lions peas and carrots? No... Dogs are supposed to eat 98% proteins: raw meat, raw bones, offal.
Most dog foods at the supermarket contain mainly cereals, so carbs which dogs don't need and a tiny bit of really poor quality proteins. That's why dogs won't eat them. They're not stupid. They know what's good for them.
Dogs are not human. They are not supposed to eat everything (vegetables, cereals, sugar...). That's for human beings. Eating the wrong food for your body leads to medical conditions (the cancer rate has boomed in pets as the pet food industry increased the carb ratio, for instance).
Please, can we all remember what is good for our pets? 💓

Layer in an e-collar while the dog is still on the long line. That helps further develop boundaries and is a great back up tool for that 1% chance a dog ever bolts without listening (prey drive can be strong) and can get hurt that way. Then, you take off the leash and you can continue holding your dog accountable. You don’t want them to rehearse not coming without the leash on too many times, and putting the leash back on won’t necessarily strengthen the recall by much.

Hey Zac amazing video! I can only hope my dog is this responsive to my commands. It think it would be amazing if you could put the dog’s age in the video description. It would really help because I could then correlate my training to age rather than specific skill. For instance you probably wouldn’t try this sort of off leash training or expect as much from a 5 month old puppy. Love your work!

I love these videos and they are so helpful but what would be even more helpful would be videos with "problem' dogs and see how that behavior is handled. Thanks!

can you do a training video about feeding? What are some good tips to incorporate with feed times? I have a new puppy and i’m having trouble getting him to settle down during feeding times

My 6 year old border collie loves training with her squeaky lamb toy, she nearly gets too focused on it. Both my 6 year old and 1 year old know 'Stop' when they are off leash, they will 'Stop', Sit and then 'Stay' and wait for me if that is what I want or I can make them 'Stop' then 'Come'. For some reason my young male just loves to be recalled, if you whistle to him, he will come running back joyously. He is a clown. They know if they see a car that they 'Sit' and wait until it is passed. I'm sure Zak would say that I gave them both too much freedom too early. My 2 aren't quite as well-trained as Inertia but they both go to dog training regularly (they both LOVE LOVE LOVE dog school) and we try to be as consistent as possible with them so I think they are both amazing dogs. Still enjoy the content with Inertia since Zak is so unflappable and I just love border collies.

What I do is work on a long line to teach a recall. Then, when that is reliable, I suggest layering in an e-collar while the dog is still on the long line.
This has allowed my dog SO much freedom and while he has a strong enough recall that I don’t really have to use the e-collar much anymore, I don’t have to worry about that tiny chance. Dogs are living things and are not perfect. I’m not willing to take any chances and my dog enjoys the extra privileges he is given.
Treats can fail. Toys can fail. You still need some way to hold them accountable, even in those rare cases. Plus, dogs learn A LOT through fair corrections.
