As someone who’s adopting a puppy for the first time this Friday, I never thought about training her to stay when opening the door. So important to do! Thanks!!
I have to say this! You are my inspiration, I have been overwhelmed with my new puppy, and so many times I was near my breaking point and falling in despair. When that happens I watch your videos and they inspire me to be better for my puppy, and it's working, thank you!
I honestly want to take a moment and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was recently given a beautiful Great Pyrenees puppy, Bella. She's soft like a cloud. She's 9 weeks old and I'm a "old dog" relearning new tricks. Your videos are incredibly helpful and informative. I hope I am able to become the owner she deserves.
Zak, Your videos are SO important to me and have opened a new life to two energetic, sweet Aussies. I didn't have the confidence that I could train them so kept being erratic and diffident which doesn't promote success. Because you are so encouraging and break everything down so well I am now able to take baby steps toward my goals.
Well done Zak, Inertia's listening brilliantly, she looks at you like you are favourite thing it's so exciting to watch, her training is going very well and I'm so proud!
It is incredibly heart warming to see how extremely well Inertia is doing with her training! She showed amazing restraint well beyond an 8 month old puppy!! Zac displayed wonderful judgement when he said this is the happiest day of my life since my wedding day! Way to go Bree!!
Something to reconsider on the door-stay segment: Don't ever hook safety equipment to a belt loop on your jeans. They break with very little stress. If you have a belt, just hook your carabineer around the belt itself. If you don't have a belt, Ollydog makes a great one with nylon webbing loops to clip your carabineer too that are sewn for stress, or you can loop the leash around your waist and hook it to itself. The dog hitting the end of the leash at full speed is more than enough to rip the stitches from your belt loop. That's not safety, but the illusion of safety, which is more dangerous than nothing at all! (If you want to save someone dangling from a bridge or cliff, never ever grab by their belt loop. Grab the belt or the waistline of the pants.)
Also, I don't know why my autocorrect insists on turning the commonly used mountaineer clip "carabiner" into the archaic carbine-wielding soldier "carabineer" but it keeps doing that. Gah.
Staying/waiting at the door is one thing we work on every couple of days! It’s definitely important! I’m so glad that you share these great tips, and make the lessons so easy to understand! She’s growing up to be such a well mannered girl! Thanks, again, for sharing these awesome videos with us! I pray you guys are staying safe in this crazy time of quarantine.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 God bless and hugs to you, Bree and all of the fur babies!☺️❤️
I have to admit, I was sceptical about your training technique in the early phases and there was one point you did come under some criticism (cant remember the episode), however; after watching this journey from the start I am really quite impressed. In my opinion only, it seems to be a much more time consuming and longer process but what great results you are getting. What I really like is the only training device you have applied is the body harness with lead and high value treats - correct me if I am wrong. What a wonderful way to build a freindship as you train your dog. I have now purchased your book to continue the training of my boy.
You're right! I'm applying his methods for the first time ever on my dog and he appears very receptive and happy in comparison to our old dog who was trained based on "dominance". It's still pretty hard though.
Today's dogs suffer from a lack of mental stimulation and quality time spent with ‘their’ people. The resulting boredom and anxiety can lead to no end of physical and behavioral problems. These videos help me a lot with patience. I adopted a 6month old border collie from an abuse situation where she was exposed to NOTHING. So she is terrified of everything and I’m slowly getting her to not panic at every little thing we come across. She is still very nervous, though. Too nervous to listen to commands anywhere but home or on empty trails. I didn’t realize how much patience rescuing an abused dog would take, but I am so thankful for her. She has come a long way in two and a half months and you make me look forward to the day she won’t be scared just being anywhere but home. Thank you.
You can find rubber sticks online you could throw. I'm glad you said people shouldn't do this, but as a person who had her dogs throat cut I can say they are NEVER safe. I also threw it very lightly and not too crazy but my dog just ran into it and it pierced his palate quite bad. You never ever want to see your dog drink his water with his own blood constantly pouring out.
Yes, it actually blew my mind when I got my dog, how many people had similar stories. Never heard anything about dogs running into sticks and getting severely injured before, but dozens of stories when I just got my dog. I've taken it to heart and only throw balls and frisbees. Would like to see more dog-trainers warning about the dangers here.
When we are in the woods with the dogs, they get to chew on sticks eat grass, Heather roots or soil if they want. The Vet said there is plenty minerals, vitamins and even good probiotic bacteria. We Never had a problem in 30 years owning dogs. But since you mention it, i wanna mention Dog toys can also be very dangerous... I have seen plenty dogs that has eaten toys that get stuck in the dogs intestiants. And that can easily kill them. Just saying. You can choke on a nut, but is that a legit reason not to eat nut anymore. As long as we dont over excite them and make them "greedy" they should be fine. It is the same with bones. Bones should be the right size for the size of dog and they should always be fresh, Never cocked or old. Since we are talking about dangerous things... have any of you seen PETFOOLED?
@@vikingdogmanship I tried to find it but it's not available in my region on Amazon. Bastards. And the stick thing is more about sticks landing into the ground, and dogs running into the other end than them chewing on them. Chewing is fine, better on sticks than certain toys. You always have to pay attention when they're chewing on anything though, and take it away before it gets small enough to swallow.
Very well done! You guys are so awesome together. You can see all your training coming together, it's so nice to see. I might be picking up my rottweiler pulpy next weekend. I am looking forward to putting all the things I learned from this channel into real life!
I remember watching your videos when I was little, although I didn't have a dog I wanted to be prepared. But now it's been a few years and my mum said yes to a pup! So I'm re-watching your vidoes. So happy your still going 😁💕
Glad I just found this channel. Since the quarantine we lye on the couch watching tv. Now I can break the monotony working with my best friend. You won the internet today. What's a quality training treat?
Zak, I used your videos to train my dog. Both my family and my partners family are so in love with him and the bond we have, and how well behaved he is that they have both gone on, one to purchase a dog and train with your videos, and the other is on the hunt for one Thank you so much! 😊
Great video!! She's really doing well. Those dogs running past were such a huge challenge and she was a champ about it!! It's so fun when everything starts paying off like it is for you now. It's also a great example of not pushing your dog past where she is ready to succeed. Distance is such a great assistant in training when it comes to distractions!
I've mentioned that door manners are so freaking important. Same thing with manners by roads. People just dont realize how a disaster can happen by simply not teaching door and road manners. I've heard so many people get their dogs killed because of that.
Thank you for your videos! My daughter and I are watching them together to train our dog Tigerlily. Your videos have been incredible. I appreciate the detail you go into and show when you make mistakes. We all make mistakes. Your dog is beautiful and learning so well. Take care
It makes me so happy to see how well her frisbee is going, everytime I look at her now that shes gotten bigger it makes me think of Alpha Centauri more and more and my favorite videos were always the ones where you would take him Venus and Nova out for rounds of frisbee or trick training. I know Inertia is going to be just as fantastic of a dog as those 3 were and love seeing the progress and growth between you and her 🥰
Great to see Inertia hold her stay so well. I love watching her training. This morning my Fergus did 4 perfect roll overs in a row. Exciting! He is the best companion.
Great video Zak!!!! Inertia is so well behaved and adorable! Could you do a video explaining some of the most important things for new puppy owners to know/best tricks and things to teach and all the things you will need for your puppy? Also, how should I transition my future puppy off of the puppy food and onto adult food? Thanks!!
Inertia did really well! It’s tough competing with all the distractions, but yes they are all training opportunities! 🙂 Sometimes it’s tricky finding just the “right” amount of distractions so they don’t completely lose their minds. 😁 Also I find that my treats have to be much higher value in the outside world than at home. (Hey - thanks for commenting on my channel - I saw a notification weeks later but somehow your comment had disappeared. I appreciate you stopping by. 🙂)
Have a meet up with friends that have good socialized dogs whether in a big backyard or a park. Keep in mind social distancing while in public and that your friends are not people at risk with Covid 19.
Watching the world from a distance (the "screensaver training" mentioned in this video) will be great for teaching your dog to stay calm when something exciting appears in their field of vision. Dogs can't get the virus, but they can transmit it just like a door handle or some other inanimate object would. Luckily the virus does not withstand changing temperatures, sunlight, etc. very well (when it's on a surface like your dogs' coat). If you arrange meetups with another dog (and their owner), have a plan for how to stay physically separated from the other person and avoid touching each others dogs, or any other surface. You should not be inside someone's home, find a place with very few or no other people that is outside. For teaching your dog to enjoy being touched by strangers, walk the dog outside for a good amount of time before you let them approach a person you've previously made arrangements with, then walk your dog back home before touching it. Use a very long leash so that you don't have to get close to the person. Make a list of things you've chosen not to socialize your dog to at this moment (older people, crowds, public transport, restaurants, whatever you can think of) and work through those things at another time. Even if your dogs' socialization window has closed, they can still adapt to new things, though it might require more time and patience. Best of luck!
I plan on getting a Belgian Malinois when I graduate college and even though that’s not for a few years I’ve been just binging dog training channels. Inertia is doing so great! It’s amazing to see how far she’s come!
I have a mali and man they really are hard work. Intelligent but very easily bored. And when bored they can be destructive. Need a LOT of training a lot of exercise and a lot of enrichment. Not a dog I would ever recommend to anyone not highly experienced with dogs of a high energy breed
Stars at Night, if you’re thinking of getting a Belgian Malinois I advise you follow Michael Ellis or Robert Cabral. They are dog trainers not pet food salesmen.
Keep in mind that mals are not your average pet dogs. They need to work... if not, you and your dog will suffer. Mals are your full-time job and you will probably never have any time for yourself. Someone else in the replies already suggested Robert Cabral and Michael Ellis so I would suggest looking them up if you're really serious.
Arbi I know that’s why I said after I finish college which is like five years from now. It’ll give me time to prepare and I won’t be focusing on school work anymore and will be able to give the dog my full attention. I love dogs and I’m actually counting on buildings my life around it. I get bored easily and plan on living on my own and working from home. Training a dog like that will be a crazy experience I know, they’re stubborn and have high drive and energy and want something to do 24/7. That’s exactly why I want one. I do plan on putting it to work as well, I don’t stay in my house long and neither will it. I like that you all care, it shows you truly value a dogs well being and aren’t comfortable knowing what this dog is like and having one end up where it and the owner will only suffer. I did and still am doing research on them, though I’m not sure what else there is to know. I lost count of the amount of articles I’ve read, watched like ten RUclips videos where people talk about them, and even made them the topic of a research project for school. ( I am watching those other channels too them and Simpatico Dog Training )
Love watching all of Inertia’s videos but going back to the early days when she first came home since I bring home a new pup in five days! ❤️ Thanks Zak for your dedication to dog training and to those of us who dream of being able to train our dogs!
My dogs LOVE that squeaky chicken! :) Wait at the door is such an important behavior. Where you are you have to think about the traffic and city-type dangers and at my place, I have to worry about rattlesnakes being right outside our door (which is the main reason I train this with my dogs). So, either way, it is a very important behavior to teach. Thanks!
Hey Zak. I'm an autistic girl and I am new to your channel and you've taught me so much already. I've ordered 3 copies of your book and am awaiting them very excitedly!! I've subscribed and I just thought I'd ask a quick question. My husband and I are each training our own puppy for service dog training. I would LOVE to see a series of videos on basics and more advanced things for owner training service dogs. If you could do this that would be AMAZING! Perhaps a couple of mini series for different types of service dog i.e. (anxiety/panic service dog mini series, guide dog mini series, mobility dog mini series, psychiatric service dog mini series, etc)
I have my 12 week old puppy staying while I walk around. He is so keen to work. Thank you for all your tips I would love a video of all the tricks to teach I'm running out of ideas.
There are going to be alot of dogs who re-aquire their severe seperation anxiety bc most of us are home all day w/ them now- are there any tips, or training you can recommend for us to be doing now to mitigate this from happening when civilization resumes?
Bc yesterday, all i did was go downstairs to get a delivery- K... she sounded like someone was cooking her, up here on open fire, while i was scared she was going to bust through the door, Did not take long, for her to 'untrain' after years of training- (wtf?!) However, shes not 15/25 lbs anymore, (like she was, back then) she's 70 of pitbull,... dig? Thx... & is this common? Bc she ISN'T normal she is diva supreme
Have you been crate training? I’ve been keeping a structure similar (but modified) to when I wasn’t at home, so my dog would be placed in his crate for a couple of hours after we would train/play and he’d just have to deal with us being around the house while he was in his crate. He’s been doing fine with it and settles in there for naps (at one point, he would just sit and stare, so he’s become more well adjusted again and settles more again). He whines sometimes when we get home from going out, but I implemented our “quiet” training again and that nipped that habit quick. If you didn’t crate train, that may be something to work on now (crate games are helpful), as it’s an important thing for any dog to have. If you didn’t crate train but kept them in a smaller space, maybe do that, instead, to keep structure? Dogs do well on having as much structure as possible.
Sarah Cooper Any dog can get this way. Some breeds more than others may be susceptible to it and genetics do play a role (well bred vs not), but it can happen with any breed in some form.
I live in atlanta too- my dog is allowed to walk out on the porch but if he wants to go down into the front lawn we have to say go on and same if he wants to go on the side walk and go onto other properties to greet the neighbors
I have been following your videos for quite sometime now and it has really helped me train my 4 month GSD puppy. Can you also do few videos on the diet plan for puppies below 6 months of age? Maybe you can tell us what do you feed Inertia and how it has evolved over time? Thanks in advance.
I could leave the door open and my sweet Nahla would just stand there and not go past under any circumstances. Even when other dogs where just outside closer then your fence. Until I released her she would stay, even if it wasn't commanded. It was incredible... Just incredible. For a border collie... I never trained her at all to do that, she just picked it up. My wife left the door open once, I didn't see her so I thought she took off, I'm freaking out... Calling to her outside and nothing. I make my way all around the neighborhood shouting for her... Finally make it home thinking she's gone and there she is standing in the open doorway. 😰 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁. It was amazing she knew what to do, that is not pass the doorway unless given permission. I never trained her to do that. It was simply an incredible blessing.
Hey I love your channel so much that everyday I am waiting to see if u post a bonus video love u and may god keep Inertia and your family stat safe❤❤❤❤

Another currency is voice and praise. I've had 2 dogs who were more interested in praise than anything else. The 1st one was a border collie (of course) and the 2nd who I still have is a New Zealand heading dog. Again heading dogs have mainly border collie in their breeding. This dog was a rescue and was completely shut down when I got her and all her training was with praise. Now that she is older she does love treats though

My friend got a boarder collie that's a few months old about a week ago. She plans on training her for agility. My friend is going to train her dog Rue to know the basics. After the pandemic her parents are going to sign them up for classes.
ugh my off leash training is still not working with my dog...... me:stay my dog: oooo theres another dog lets go make friends me:come my dog: I'll do that later, let me chase this rabbit first me:fetch my dog: nahh keep away is more fun just curious, Zak, what type of harness are you using. Is it true that Julius harnesses are bad for dogs?
I'm crying as i write this .... but felt this was the best place .. I just lost my husky puppy - Zia... this morning ... she was well .. even last night we played an she had a good night ... got uop this morning and was ever so energetic as usual ... she had a couple of mouths of her kibble and then just collapsed .... i rushed her to the doc but she died on the table while they were trying to resisitate her They said there was no obstruction in the airways and didnt know why she didnt make it ... just before she breathed her last she bled from her mouth and nose The doc said it could be a massive cardiac arrest .... for a puppy ... thats just harsh... please please help me get closure
I am having trouble training my Golden-doodle, he was really crazy as a puppy, and we made the mistake the mistake of keeping him away from the world instead of introducing it to him, so the first 3 years ( he is 4 now) of his life he was locked outside for 1 year and then only allowed to go inside and outside, not ever in the front. Now I am trying to train him, and he is doing really good in the front yard on a leash but I'm too scared to take him on the driveway or road because we have had problems with him running out to the edge of the lawn and barking at neighbors or dogs that walk by, (still wagging his tail, so he wasn't being aggressive I don't think) So our neighbors are sacred and or wish we put him down. We also have lots of dogs on our street and he doesn't like going around them or seeing them, so that also limits a lot of things. I'm scared we will have to get him put down because he scares people. He has never bit anyone he just barks at them. So we don't want him to bark but we do so he can keep the kids safe from anyone who might try to break in. I have watched lots/all of dog training videos on youtube but none have helped me know what to do. I've been thinking about a prong collar because my friend recommended it. But it just hurts me to think of anything like that! I just want to be able to go on a walk with my dog! I feel like I've tried everything! Anything you would suggest that would help my situation?
Still working on training him. He was REALLY good at not running out the door when it was left open, but since two months ago he runs out the door when he thinks no one is watching. It’s quite silly! But most of the time he runs up the street 2-3 houses away to play with the two dogs that are outside most of the time (I’m pretty sure they’re trained to stay in their yard. And they are really nice dogs, but will fight if they feel threatened), it’s only been once or twice that he has run out and starts barking at people walking up/down the street. I still haven’t taken him for a real walk, in fear that there will be another dog that is out and starts fighting him! I’m not sure what to do. I was doing really good training him in the spring, but when it came summer I was to afraid to have him walk on the hot road, because he is a black dog, and stopped training him. That was a mistake! I’m just starting up again, and had to go almost all the way back to the basics.
Hey there, we are reaching out to you as new owners of two, twelve week old, Chihuahua puppies. We have had our dogs for four weeks now. One of them is always excited and wanting to play. He is super fun and extremely loving toward us. The only issue when him, is that he is extremely needy. He cries unless he is around us constantly. He does not like to be left alone, at all. He will cry and cry and cry non stop until you attend to him or until you leave the house. How can we reduce the crying when we are not attending to the dog’s needs? His little brother is a totally different ’ball of wax’. Baby brother is more of a loner. Sure he likes to be loved too but not constantly. He is fine on his own or he is fine with us (and he too is super fun when he is with us) or he is fine with his brother. He is a slower learner which is okay but our issue with him is that he cries ’like his leg is broken’ whenever you try to pick him up. He gets unnecessary nervous and is very timid just when being picked up, again, yelping ’like his leg is broken’, just because he does not want to be removed from wherever he currently is. Once he is picked up he is fine and he acts as if his drama about being moved was no big deal. Baby brother will sometimes try to bite us in order to remain in his current position. This is our main concern!! Can you help? Any advice, on either scenario, to reduce the anxiety for our two little ones would be much appreciated. We are hoping you have some good ideas. Thank you and good day.
KeepingupwithLeticia Miller I don’t know if this is your issue but my shihtzu and shihtzu mix both do better when I scoop them under their belly with my hand under their chest and sort of hold them like a football. Neither like being being picked up from the front like a child. I think my hand under the chest feels safer for them.
Hi Zac! Your videos are awesome! I'd love a video on how to train your dog to not play 'keep-away'. My dog always seems to be obsessed with her ball, takes it and runs away, wanting us to chase her to get it. We find it hard when we're at a park and she ends up grabbing another dog's ball and then it takes forever to get it off of her to give it back. Any tips?
Refuse to participate. Stand your ground, give a command like come or drop it, and have a reward handy. If he runs and no one chases, he will likely come back for a treat.... after some repetition to confirm the game of chase is over.
Welcome to the city! ATL is a great place to be. We have a new foster pup that is doing SO WELL with the help of your videos. If you need an owner/dog pair to work with for a video while you are new in ATL, feel free to reach out to us!
Traffic can be even more tempting for a border collie - many want to herd cars. I live in the country so spent several training sessions in town w my BC pup on a busy corner clicking her for staying and for watching me. She’s now 12 and has had no desire to chase or herd cars - whew!
Come around I think he mostly taught her by luring her with the frisbee, you can see it in their earlier videos when Inertia is younger. Heel I have been teaching my dog by luring him to my side, having him sit, then walking a couple steps with a treat right in front of his nose. Its been working like a charm. Hope it helps!
@zak, this is great. I love your videos. I used to have a Border Collie and we have Aussies now. Just a note, I had my last dog yank the carabiner hard one day and tore the belt loop right open! I would HIGHLY recommend using a belt as a backup.
Thank you for all your great advices. I would be struggling if I didn’t research on how to take care a puppy and training methods. Been watching your videos from the first day I got my puppy and he is slowly getting there. I’m not a very patient person. But my puppy is making me to do so, I just have to remember that he is just a baby right now. Again thank you 🙏
This is my biggest problem with my dog. I need to do a better job at this. Thanks for the video Zak! Inertia's doing an amazing job. What's the brand of the long training leash? Looks like it's a wide leash, 1-inch?
My border collie is so chonky compared to Inertia! He's got a bit of cattle-dog in him and he's a bit overweight. It's amazing how much variation you can get in a breed. I see so much of my boy's mannerisms in her too. They're so bright! I feel like they're hard to train in the sense that they know the stuff they're taught, but they decide when to listen. 🤦😆 I could write an essay about BC trainability and their delightful habit of selective hearing! At least they mellow with age. Well, most of them. 😉 Inertia's doing so well and growing up so fast! Thanks for sharing this, Zak. 😊
@Breaking Brad gay rights are not an "agenda". It's a lifestyle that should be protected by the laws in the US. Period. Someone having support for these rights isn't portraying an agenda. They're just showing that they're not garbage humans. Also, how did you edit your post and still have so many misspelled words? o_O
I'm using Sit instead of stay. For one it's more powerful, so it travels further than a stay. I use sit for almost anything. He needs so sit, when I open the door, but also once we're thru the door and I need to close (and lock it). If he wants to go somewhere (because he sees something) he first need to go to a stand position (from the sit), so it takes more time than when the dog already stands ready to run away. I'm lucky that I live next to a great park, so I often also walk off-lease. My listens very good in general, except when I'm on the phone, because he knows I can't continuously correct his behavior so he knows he gets away with more 'deviant' behavior..
I got extremely lucky with my 2 dogs. Not once have they tried to run outside, even when they were puppies. No training. Door wide open, they'll just sit and watch. Mailman or neighbor walks by....they go psychotic but, they stay put. Leash goes on though they'll bolt whether I'm ready or not. Actually, I didn't even have to technically potty train them either. Clutch had one accident inside as a puppy and Zero never did.
My 4 month old Borador just watched this with me. She enjoyed it. I think it might help her see you work with Inertia to get her to respond better when I work with Gracie(my dog). Or, she might have thought Inertia was my son's Border Collie Mya. LOL! Anywhoooo...thank you!
As someone who’s adopting a puppy for the first time this Friday, I never thought about training her to stay when opening the door. So important to do! Thanks!!
I think self-isolation is getting to me. I can't stop laughing of the noise that chicken toy made!! XDDDD
Haha I know I think us humans are struggling and it's bring out bizzare behaviour, me included lol
Lol same
It's contagious then, I live in Oz and I have the same symptoms mate.
Man... And this was posted 4 months ago
Please look up “Big Marvel” (channel) “My heart will go on” (chicken song cover). Enjoy the rest of your quarantine.
I have to say this! You are my inspiration, I have been overwhelmed with my new puppy, and so many times I was near my breaking point and falling in despair. When that happens I watch your videos and they inspire me to be better for my puppy, and it's working, thank you!
Me too! It's nice to see even dog trainers can have a tough time with it
I honestly want to take a moment and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Inertia is the cutest dog I’ve ever seen I’m in love with her ❤️
It is incredibly heart warming to see how extremely well Inertia is doing with her training!
Grab the belt or the waistline of the pants.)
crosita1 we have a waist belt dog leash :)
Everyone who has tried to pull up a pair of tight pants by the belt loops know how poorly they are sewn on. Using a proper belt is great advice :)
Also, I don't know why my autocorrect insists on turning the commonly used mountaineer clip "carabiner" into the archaic carbine-wielding soldier "carabineer" but it keeps doing that. Gah.
Like this will do
Staying/waiting at the door is one thing we work on every couple of days!

What was the critisizm?
😭 Powerful visual. Is your dog ok?
Omg that's so sad
Is he ok ?
Both my family and my partners family are so in love with him and the bond we have, and how well behaved he is that they have both gone on, one to purchase a dog and train with your videos, and the other is on the hunt for one
Thank you so much! 😊
Great video!! She's really doing well. Those dogs running past were such a huge challenge and she was a champ about it!! It's so fun when everything starts paying off like it is for you now. It's also a great example of not pushing your dog past where she is ready to succeed. Distance is such a great assistant in training when it comes to distractions!
thanks for breaking down every step. So much better content than many other sites. Thanks for the hard work. Enjoy the new house!!
I've mentioned that door manners are so freaking important. Same thing with manners by roads. People just dont realize how a disaster can happen by simply not teaching door and road manners. I've heard so many people get their dogs killed because of that.
I do not watch all your videos but your making huge gains with her. Congrats great advice on running out the door!
I recently lost a dog in the road. This video is very helpful, I’ll train my other dogs with this method asap
These things you are teaching Inertia are great! Thank you for sharing your dog training experience with us. I've been learning a lot. 😄
Welcome to Atlanta. It is fun to see my city in the background of this-----and the content is so helpful, too.
Inertia doesn't understand social distancing lol
Your videos have helped me so much with training my new puppy he is now 13 weeks and counting. Thank you soooooo much😊
It's really hard to socialize my dog during coronavirus how should I handle this
He made a video it was. It was called your dog and Coronavirus. It was five days ago
Ty
I had my puppy preschool closed. I'm hoping this doesn't harm my little guys ability to play with dogs in the future.
I plan on getting a Belgian Malinois when I graduate college and even though that’s not for a few years I’ve been just binging dog training channels. Inertia is doing so great! It’s amazing to see how far she’s come!
Stars at Night , keep in mind a Malinois is a very high drive dog! They require a lot of attention, training, and knowledge.
Good luck friend!!
( I am watching those other channels too them
and Simpatico Dog Training )
Congratulations on your new home! Great video as always, thanks for the good tips.
Thanks!
Great point!
Wonderful! Good girl, Inertia! This video was really great. Thank you, Zak. And well done. My dog is just like that. This helps a lot. Thank you!
You give HUGE inspiration for training!! Really excited to put it all at work with my future dog !
Sooooooooo happy this popped up randomly in my feed! This is the EXACT issue I’m having with my dog right now!
I too am training my own service dog and would love to see inertia learn commands with more utility instead of just tricks.
I have my 12 week old puppy staying while I walk around. He is so keen to work. Thank you for all your tips I would love a video of all the tricks to teach I'm running out of ideas.
You will be a great human daddy when and if the time comes. Thanks for everything you do and teach.
“I think this is the happiest I’ve been since my wedding day.“ very beautiful
Oh wow! That is my Steve's absolute fav toy! He heard the video & went crazy trying to find his toy😉
What a beautiful border collie! She’s going to love all your challenges I bet! Nice dog dad
I don’t know what I would do without this channel, it’s so useful to me
There are going to be alot of dogs who re-aquire their severe seperation anxiety bc most of us are home all day w/ them now- are there any tips, or training you can recommend for us to be doing now to mitigate this from happening when civilization resumes?
Bc yesterday, all i did was go downstairs
to get a delivery- K...
she sounded like someone was cooking her, up here on open fire, while i was scared she was going to bust through the door,
Did not take long, for her to 'untrain' after
years of training- (wtf?!) However, shes not
15/25 lbs anymore, (like she was, back then)
she's 70 of pitbull,... dig? Thx... &
is this common?
Bc she ISN'T normal she is diva supreme
Yup. I second this. Would also love to see a video on how to help with this
Sarah Cooper because they don’t like to be left alone? What an ignorant comment.
Your one of my favourite trainers and I’m definitely using your techniques on training my new puppy!
Can’t wait until we find the perfect puppy!
What a sweet dog!
This is so helpful, my dog is such an escape artist i built two layers of gates so if he gets through one its only the first defense haha
I can't believe 8mos have already passed, she's so big now!
Good job! She is doing amazing❤ love you guys!
My dog would be SO bad behaved without you (he still is a little bit naughty though)
Hey I love your channel so much that everyday I am waiting to see if u post a bonus video love u and may god keep Inertia and your family stat safe❤❤❤❤

Absolutely amazing ! Thank you
Another currency is voice and praise.
I don't know when you switched it, but I like the new beginning

The person walking by when that chicken flew out the front door: ......What?
This is all so important. I really wish I found your channel a long time ago.
My friend got a boarder collie that's a few months old about a week ago. She plans on training her for agility. My friend is going to train her dog Rue to know the basics. After the pandemic her parents are going to sign them up for classes.
I especially liked the door opening and stay segment. We live on a very busy road.
Wow, didn't know you lived in Atlanta, so do I. I have a border collie husky mix. And this series has been essential for me. Thanks so much.
Interested to see what this video will be about!!

my dog: I'll do that later, let me chase this rabbit first

my dog: nahh keep away is more fun
just curious, Zak, what type of harness are you using. Is it true that Julius harnesses are bad for dogs?
They constrict the movement on the shoulder, a y style harness is good, personally i quite like the anny x harnesses.
Inertia is on a H harness... it's the one that distributes pressure best on the dog's chest without blocking any kind of movement.
Duprii Delia Emanuela where is the difference between a y and an h style harness? They seem similar
My dog is exactly the same , I have no idea how to solve that distraction mode
I'm glad you posted this. I just brought a julias harness as I didn't realise this. I'll buy a different one now
Very helpful!
My cousin lives in Atlanta, and I visit her all the time. So I know what you’re talking about when you say its way different
We live in Atlanta!! Welcome back!!!!
I'm crying as i write this .... but felt this was the best place .. I just lost my husky puppy - Zia... this morning ... she was well .. even last night we played an she had a good night ... got uop this morning and was ever so energetic as usual ... she had a couple of mouths of her kibble and then just collapsed .... i rushed her to the doc but she died on the table while they were trying to resisitate her
They said there was no obstruction in the airways and didnt know why she didnt make it ... just before she breathed her last she bled from her mouth and nose
The doc said it could be a massive cardiac arrest .... for a puppy ... thats just harsh... please please help me get closure
Awww she has got so big!!
She is a beautiful dog!
Do you have videos on how you taught “heel” and “come around”?
Come around I think he mostly taught her by luring her with the frisbee, you can see it in their earlier videos when Inertia is younger. Heel I have been teaching my dog by luring him to my side, having him sit, then walking a couple steps with a treat right in front of his nose. Its been working like a charm. Hope it helps!
I appreciate your videos. Can’t wait to train my mini Australian shepherd when I get her in a month!
Inertia's doing so well and growing up so fast! Thanks for sharing this, Zak. 😊
Cattle dogs are also just SOLID. But adjusting calories is pretty easy if you are ready to trim your pup down a little. You can do it!
I don't even have a dog (yet), but I'm loving all of your videos, Zak!
Can u make a video on how to teach your dog to walk on 3 legs (front paw in the air). Love your Videos
My dog came running over when he heard the chicken!
Zak and Intertia really said gay rights in that thumbnail 😌
How does that matter? This is about a well trained pet who won't go back to pound. Idiot
@@outlawten5750 all representation matters and it's really nice to see someone you look up to support equal rights

Also, how did you edit your post and still have so many misspelled words? o_O
Just ordered my 1st pup box😍Can’t wait to see what they put in Charlie’s box (12 weeks old)
I'm using Sit instead of stay.
Dang, the last time you threw the toy out the front door... I would've ran out to get it! Great job Inertia!
Good night thanks for your videos. We are having problems with the internet can't answer night only.
welcome back to Atlanta!
Great tutorial. Thank you.
It helps to train dogs.🐶🐕❤
My 4 month old Borador just watched this with me. She enjoyed it. I think it might help her see you work with Inertia to get her to respond better when I work with Gracie(my dog). Or, she might have thought Inertia was my son's Border Collie Mya. LOL! Anywhoooo...thank you!
Beautiful video
