If you know you are not going to be as high as your baffles, think about using thicker stickers. I do not know the air flow from the fans but in theory the wider the gap the less resistance, increasing the flow between slabs which should reduce drying time slightly.

I load kilns at a sawmill. Try sticking to all the same kind of wood. Different species dry at different rates. Also the same size and thickness should be pretty close to the same

Would you get better air flow by turning the stickers , pointing across the container rather than length wise, under the cookies ? That is a nice Kiln !
Yeah we should have turned the cookies so the stickers faced the other way. Didn’t even notice until you said that. I’ll rotate them tomorrow. Thank you!
howdy a question for you. why waste time and money on KILN drying fire wood? out west we cut our rounds and when they are simi seasoned we split. After we season the wood by nature, Fall comes we are ready for burn season, I've trucked thru your Fl. several time and I know its humid but cant a summer dry out your wood stock and save you money on your KILN.? Of corse here in Carson City Nevada its a very dry Country. Oh cangrats on you new arrival of the baby boy in Sept.

When I dry lumber/wood I use my big pressure tank (about twice the lumber you have there) and use a vacuum pump. My lumber is dry in a day. only requirements is that the tank needs to have access to 68F (ca 20celcius) in order for the water to boil under vacuum. Doesn't cost much in energy/electrical bill either.
So from what I’m understanding is you basically put it in a gigantic vacuum chamber in the water boils off? Kind of like the way freeze drying works.
Is it possible to get this in Norway? For firewood.

Why wood you dry firewood in Florida. Plus doesn't it raise the cost of the wood.gotta be expensive to dry firewood.
we dry it because we can't keep up with the customers. 18 months sitting out back seasoning or 7-10 days in the kiln. If I was able to get ahead, we would probably just season it with time, but right now this is our only option. The Kiln is amazing.
@Larry Larson what do you get a basket?if I can ask.n why are people burning wood in Florida. I don't get it.we cut fire wood during the winter n sell it starting in sept.all seasoned by then in mi.i would have thought 3 months of Florida heat it would be very dry.

I don't understand the point of putting firewood in the kiln. Won't most people store their firewood outdoors? If so, won't this wood then absorb moisture from the environment?
probably, but most of our customers get $10.00 or $20.00 worth for weekend fire pits. most people in Florida don't buy it by the cord.
Once wood has been kiln dried the lumens collapse and it's much slower to re wet.
