If you want to say like this then no country in the world is exempt from this issue. The rising cost of living vs the amount locals earn (plus the taxes the locals have to pay) is something every country face. Eg. Singaporeans like to go to Thailand for vacations as we find things there very affordable but for the locals there, it isn't actually that affordable. Another example- A family member went to San Francisco recently for a work trip. He found the things in US super expensive, even in the grocery stores (like almost double of SG prices), whereas the average salary there isn't that much higher than SG's and he was wondering how people there can survive like that especially with the amount of taxes they have to pay.

If the smallest amount of right wing just screams dictator then you haven't seen the brutality and the worse conditions known as oppression of actual dictators that constantly hunt down their opposing foes.

If you want to say like this then no country in the world is exempt from this issue. The rising cost of living vs the amount locals earn (plus the taxes the locals have to pay) is something every country face. Eg. Singaporeans like to go to Thailand for vacations as we find things there very affordable but for the locals there, it isn't actually that affordable. Another example- A family member went to San Francisco recently for a work trip. He found the things in US super expensive, even in the grocery stores (like almost double of SG prices), whereas the average salary there isn't that much higher than SG's and he was wondering how people there can survive like that especially with the amount of taxes they have to pay.

My Papa was born in SG and lived in the country until he was 4-5 years old. Just before the Japanese invasion, the whole family escaped to Malaysia. Papa had always admired Mr Lee Kuan Yew and proud to share the same Lee surname❗️Now his daughter, yours truly, has come full circle to become a full-fledged Singaporean. i remember when I was very young which in 70's, my parents that era quite a lot peope don;t like him due to ISA, control birthrate by penalty, ban our dialects which cannot listen to cantonese, hokkien, cannot anyhow talk bad about government in the coffee shop. But now, my parents that era all thank him in providing good education to my this generation.

This 2 families have massive assets in Singapore and very close family bonding between them because the great grandfathers of TMJ, sultan Abu Bakar and sultan Sir Ibrahim are born Singaporean. That’s why Singapore national language and national anthem is still Malay. Singapore government are not allowed to change it forever. One thing about LKY is that, he heed advices from TMJ family in the past to make Singapore great. So the truth is that, TMJ family is more Singaporean at heart than malaysia
