launder money in singapore is different from selling drugs in singapore. Its so difficult to keep money launderers out due to the many tactical ways to get money into singapore banks. The man had a vision for a better Singapore one that could become what it is today and he was not dissuaded from that path - good for him because look what this has achieved.
If only we had more people like this in public office around the world today, people who actually have the best intentions for their country and it's people, he took the responsibility for the vision and the ways to make that vision a reality, that plan to enhance and enrich the lives of the people he was there to SERVE - he was not there for his own gain, greed, personal agenda, status or power, he was there to serve his country and his people with integrity and honour and he did.

People complain about dictatorships being authoritarian but most people under a democracy are happy to vote for the most authoritarian measures imaginable. People hate true freedom and will give it away for the smallest reason, give them the right target and they will cheer that persons rights being trampled without realising they are giving up their own in the process.

I lived in and around Singapore for about ten years, in the early seventies, I was a young anti authority Australian but made an exception for Mr Lee with, what I deemed to be, his draconian rules. With the Vietnam war so close and Singapore in need of direction, Mr Lee used what he called the Sledge Hammer effect. No Communism, that meant no long hair, no tattoos, no more rock music in night clubs. Tow Bombs were detonated after being discovered, one in top of a coconut tree and the other in a roadside gutter. There was a photo of the coconut tree blowing up, in the Straights times. Myself and friends believed that Mr Lee arranged for these bombs to be planted to give reason why Singaporeans should be concerned about communism. And the issue you with long hair and tattoos was, as I believed, to prevent Malaysian youth from being an influence on society. Wrong, I know, but I was and have always been sceptical of any authority. One amazing experience I had with Mr Lee's sledge hammer effect was when he announced that there would be no more honking of car horns and no more erratic driving on Singaporean roads. The following day I caught a taxi into the CBD, Orchard Rd and was in a state of shock. No honking of horns no indiscretions, no impatient passing and cutting in front of other drivers. This to me, was an indication of total respect for LKY.
