their kickstarter was 45 days to raise 750K.
within a single hour of it going live it was fully funded at a million dollars.
by the end of the first day it raised roughly 5 million dollars.
why the end of the 45 day campaign they raised over 11 million dollars.
and now the final product not only tells a great version of the story that fans know but is legitimately amazing storytelling in its own right,
yeah... this is the definition of "passion" both from the creators and the fans.

That is truly incredible that they managed to raise that much money and then turn around to create something as incredible as this. Super happy and grateful this happened 😄

Critical Role: Guys, we have this kickstarter we'd like to share with you. We're only looking to get $750,000 to get started and see how things go.
Critical Role Fans: Oh, is that all. Well, here's 14 times the amount you asked for. Just take my money. Thank you!

I remember the first "critter hug" during the C1E7 episode back in 2015. The cast had happily announced there are a 100 t-shirts available in their store. They were sold out before they even finished the announcement.

I've seen an interview of the cast mentioning this encounter with the dragon as the first time they realized they weren't able to beat a monster and ran away, and also the first time they encountered such dire consequences of their choice. As the moment that really solidified their group beginning the journey to becoming true heroes rather than just mercenaries, it's a fitting way to start off the animated series.

    • @TheGamingTeacher1

I love that they started with a moment that was hopeless yet truly demonstrated that their abilities were cut out for the job. It really humanized them beyond anything else.

Fun fact: the kids they interact with in the town were played by Sam Riegel’s son and Liam O’Brien’s daughter respectively. Adds a little extra emotion to that scene that it’s their own kids who are wounded.

One of the best reaction videos of this I've seen, your laughter and engagement with the content is infectious! It's also great to see you really into the show knowing very little of the campaign- it's the newcomer perspective, welcome to being a Critter!
And yes, the campaign itself is a rollercoaster. The humor, the way the party talks to each other in front of npc's, and the dead serious moments, all in the Livestream too. They transitioned the feel of the live play into the animated form surprisingly well.

Thank you so much, and thanks for welcoming me into the community with such open arms! 😄 this show has honestly gotten me so excited to play D&D again and everything about the show is incredible so far. The balance of comedy, action, and drama is better here than in most other shows I’ve seen, and the animation is beautiful (gives me vibes of ATLA).

Found this some time later from another reaction set to this series...
"It wasn't just fanservice that they did here..."
No, no it was totally fanservice. But it was the rare type of fanservice where they put easter eggs in there for those who know the references, but it's not enough to have viewers who aren't in the know feeling they've missed something. Not just for Critters, but D&D players to pick up on too if they're catching what's going on.
Looking forward to binging this today :)

Something fun to do while watching is to look out for NPCs with Matt Mercer's hair. For example, in this episode, Matt is the guard posting the notice that Scanlan pees on.

Two other Amazon originals you have to check out…for one “The Boys” probably one of thee best new shows to come out in the last few years that has two incredible seasons.
And then “Invincible”. It is in the same realm as Vox Machina as far as the violence and adult content.
Judging from context clues from your channel and decorations in your room I think you’d really enjoy them both. I’d say The Boys is the one to watch out of the two if you could only pick one though. Just my personal opinion.

It strikes me that you might like some background on the making of the series. Critical Role made a number of vlogs covering everything from writing to voice acting ruclips.net/video/fv-xZBRV_EM/видео.html . Throughout, the main cast sing the praises of all involved and how good it is. I'm an old cynic and thought "marketing". But, no. They have realized exactly what they promised the fans and, at the same time, enthralled newcomers to the franchise. Have fun watching the rest 🙂

Re: "they brought all the original cast back", not strictly true, but it's the entire cast of CR who are executive producers on LOVM. They all made the show based on the campaign they played.
