Say hello to No Mercy Percy. It only gets better from here. In the livestream everyone thought that Vax was going to die in that moment after jumping out the window. He was actually making death-saving throws and gave a short emotional speech about Vax's last thoughts before the others managed to show up just in time. Then Vex made 2 Nat 20 attacks to save her brother. Super epic.
Oh I cannot wait to get to that episode in the game. It’s a miracle that he managed to survive after that encounter but thankfully the others came to the rescue. Percy, on the other hand, is super intense and I’m curious to hearing more about his character.
Vax's eye patch snake belt is one of his magic items. His name is Simon. Its both a reference to solid snake and... you know... a one eyed trouser snake.
The reason Percy’s hair is white is because of a condition known as Marie Antoinette syndrome, named after the former French queen’s hair turning white from stress after staying in the Bastille prison shortly before her execution. It occurs due to extreme amounts of stress being placed on the body, most commonly after torture or near death experiences. Percy was being tortured in the flashback, along with his sister by the Briarwoods. If you look at their hands while they are running, you can actually see the torn nail beds where their fingernails were pulled out, further signs of the Briarwoods hospitality towards them.
Wow I did not notice that the first time through with the fingernails 😳 my hair would go that white as well after going through that as well now knowing what it is.
@@TheGamingTeacher1 Oh don't worry, once you've seen the whole show, it'll be there for you to come back to and get happy about all the hints you now get. It's a lot of fun.
Lady Briarwood is voiced by Grey Griffin who voiced Azula. No one makes a powerful villain better. Scanlan's codpiece is sporting the colors of the pansexual flag. Of course. I love how they captured Pike needing to keep concentration, and the results when she's attacked and loses it. The show has that great combination of amazing action, deep role playing, emotion and complete slapdickery, and they've captured this combo so well. The pacing and story beats are masterfully constructed. Oh, and Vax's belt can become a snake called Simon. It's a one-eyed trouser snake. See? A perfect example of the fun slapdickery details amongst the action. The first two episodes were a light-hearted introduction to the characters. Episode 3 begins the real intensity and it just builds and gets more incredible from here. Can't wait to see your reaction.
I absolutely love her so much because of ATLA and she really knows what she is doing. I definitely agree that this show really balances all of the essential aspects well while still throwing in that humor D&D is known for. I'm happy you're enjoying yourself and can't wait to show you more reactions!
Just wanted to help out your questions. 1. Vaxs belt is enchanted to become a snake with 100' range from Vax. Also known as "Simon" the one eyed trouser snake aka "Snake Pliskin" (On stealth missions). 2. Keylith is a Druid which has abilities to beast forms and (at higher levels) Elementals. Hold on to your hat, it's gonna be wild! :)
The concept of the magic belt was so cool and I’ve never seen anything like that used in D&D so that was a fun item (especially now knowing the name). As for Keylith, I really need to play as a Druid at one point because she is incredible and it’s definitely a class I don’t know as well. Can’t wait for more 😄
@@TheGamingTeacher1 Druids are powerful, but most of the powerful things they do require concentration. And their armor options suck. And most of the Cirlces don't have auto-selected spells or alternative ways to spend their class resource, like Clerics do.
12:29 I loved seeing your reaction to that scene. Because you're right at that same sweet spot that the cast and the viewers were back then, when it happened in the campaign. Most of the other reactions I've seen are either by Critters who've seen all of this and know what's coming or by people who are completely new to CR and don't have many expectations. You've seen/listened to enough of C1 to know Percy as that snarky, snobby, but mostly unassuming guy who doesn't really step into the spotlight except for the occasional snarky one liner. So, in a way, this came out of nowhere for you even more than for people who haven't seen anything besides tLoVM. The same way it did for the rest of the cast and the viewers back then. Because we thought we knew Percy pretty well, but it turns out he's been hiding and/or suppressing a rather intense dark side all this time.
It really just shows the talent that Taliesin has and how he truly just played his character perfectly (with help from Matt of course). You really don't see it coming and that makes it even better.
@@TheGamingTeacher1 Yeah she really is. And quite frankly, I think if they re-used her for [insert spoiler], it'd be *chef's kiss* I'm assuming they won't just to diversify the talent, but if they did I think she'd be great.
You should make /get some time to watch the Critical Role Stream of Campaign one, not just listen to the podcast. Half of the story is in the players faces in the steam !!!
Because you said you listen to CR as a podcast: Look up Percy's Briarwoods-bluescreen moment on RUclips once you get to this part of the campaign. It's entirely visual, so you won't get the full effect just from the podcast.
Do you happen to know which episode of the campaign this happens during? I’ve been told I need to start watching it more instead of listening to it lol
@@TheGamingTeacher1 First half of episode 14 I believe. There was some timeline reshuffleing, and there's a bunch of episodes between this and the actual feast that the Briarwoods attend, they cut all of that out for the show.

Triple Play, actually: It's also an homage to one Snake Plisskin, everyone's favourite anti-hero.
The gang at Titmouse are HUGE geeks.....

I didn't notice the fingernails either. How can the Briarwoods be so evil?!
Also known as "Shock White" :D

Not Pan- Pansexual is magenta, yellow, cyan. I believe his codpiece is the polyromantic flag- pink, green, and blue.
