No, gateway mail id and power bi service account mail id should be same. And if you install gateway from abc and sign in with xyz so in that case abc will give you rights for datasource access then you can access datasource.
Hello dear, I have one query... I install both personal and standard datagateway on my premises(laptop) . But. Trying to refresh data its giving error, under setting option under gateway connection button show as off ... And i am not able to make it On. Its happen to most of my dataset... But some dataset which source was sql and i create as new data source through cluster mode.. That dataset was working fine ... I have to use either personal or standard gateway once atva time or both gateway can we use please up date me ...

Should my laptop to be turned on in order this gateway to work?. Can other people will able to access the report in power bi online services.

For that try to update data source connection string under setting option.
