As a sub I normally like it when the teacher leaves a simple straight to the point day plan. However this binder is great because it truly does cover everything in regards to emergency situations. Something I get anxiety over so when a teacher has stuff like that in mind and prepares it for the sub it truly helps.

Top Dog I completely agree! A lot of what I have in the binder are already formatted in my lesson plans BUT there has already been a day this past week where I couldn’t make plans and I wanted to make sure that the sub was fully prepared.

I also love how you’ve used coloured paper for the different sections of the binder, and how you spaced everything out for your sub with the sticky notes!

As a sub I love when the teacher leaves me names of students who I can ask for help from e.g. tech gurus, kids who know where materials are, responsible kids to run errands etc.

Getting ready for a sub is the worst! We have a shortage of subs as well and splitting classes is a nightmare. I should probably do a sub binder. I have a file cabinet drawer labeled Sub Drawer with work and class lists (that totally need to be updated) So sad I know! But on the positive side, I do the 43 folder system so being able to grab a folder is super nice. Great tips! LC

Lesley Carmichael yes! I love that system, and you are so right! It allows for anyone to come in and be able to pick up where I’ve left off 🙌🏼
