@@mginbolton it is working, have you seen how much work goes into the back end production before the front of the camera stuff. Hat off to them. It's a full time job that they love, just a different job. I work in IT and wish I'd done that 10 years ago ;)
Yeah it is editing and all that stuff yeah same here.Im retiring in 2.5 years at 55 maybe I'll do more then,,you seen my pub shed video?I'd happily build them for people full time lol.
Thank you so very much for uploading this video, I had watched it several times before picking up my Tekna today and done exactly as you showed and the DashCam is working happily! Saved me £90 installation fee from the guy that normally does my dashcams when I had my Astra range of cars.
Thanks for the video Mark, just about to install my dash cam and this will make life so much easier! It'll save me testing every fuse in the box looking for the ignition controlled live!
Great job well done. We had exact same problem in our 64 plate Qashqai , with the camera constantly staying on. (Bit late now obviously) but If you lift up the centre arm rest, there's another 12v socket, that one stays on for around 30 seconds. Although, you then have a lot more wiring to hide.
Hi Justin. Thanks for your hint. Although I am looking to install my dashcam as shown in the video I have an usb charger that is always on as I put it into the front. I will switch it so that it is only turned on when the car is running. Also I am planning to have my dashcam always on (it is designed for parking monitoring so I have to check for another fuse that is always on)
It wasn't helpful Mark. I was OUTSTANDINGLY helpful and thank you, your effort and unselfishness by posting it does you credit. Another job to do, but this just shows the value of RUclips and people willing to share.
Nice video will help me connect my dadh cam. As for.the battery issues you mentioned, you may wanna invest in a AMG battery. Apparently the batteries nissan fit Have had cell issues, also after a long drive be sure to leave the engine running so it can charge the cells. Unlike most cars these cars charge up while the cars running.
Had to have my battery replaced after a year, was fortunate that on the day the RAC turned up Nissan authorised the replacement to the new uprated battery, a day earlier and it would have been the 'like for like' replacement and the issues that would have went with it...is a 66 plate
Thanks for the video, you needed to crimp the power wire after you inserted it into the fuse extension female plug (blue connector), but other than that, perfect install. I do wish you showed how you managed to route the wire to the fuse box on the left side, its a bit of a grey area for me. Thank you!
Thanks for the shop foreman report 😆 the wire didn't need crimping it was a tight enough push it,Bullet connectors male and female are designed for push fit.Ref the wiring behind the fuse box there are wires there already from the window harness I just followed those. Thanks for watching 👍
oh ffs I have been struggling with this damn problem for 3 effin years, as the manual doesn't even tell you.and the twats at lookers want money to do it! grrr THANK YOU THANK YOU! I am going out now a 8;45 pm in the pissing down rain just to pull this f*88king glove box out! Allehulia or however its spelt!
HI VERY GOOD CLIP, just a quick question ?? when the wires comes down the door pillar under the rubber where do the do from there ?? im trying to do the mrs car with the 522w Does it go behind the glove box ect ,,ANY HELP PLEASE...
Yes mate behind the glove box there should be a plastic trim or where the floor carpet meets the side panel carpet tuck it in there.Wherever there is an option to tuck the cable away where joints meet.
Informative video! Mark, do you know if Qashqai 2023 can be fitted with dashcams having a Car Power Cable? Any idea how to install them if they do have the wire you just showed, please?
Thanks, wiring on a 2023 model would be very similar, plug the dashcam in and turn ignition off if camera goes off it doesn't need the mod however if it stays on then its draining battery and needs the mod.
Absolutely not as it's not using power as the ignition is switched off that's the whole point of me wiring it that way to avoid hassle after returning from holiday 👍😊
Just a little comment, I had same flat battery due to dashcam. If you use the 12v socket in the centre console this goes off after 30 seconds of turning engine off. The main one stays on. Just in case people dont want to hard wire Other than that great video
Thanks Andi ok Nissan told me the Qashqai 2014-2017 model doesn't go off they only changed it after 2017.I suppose still the benefit of hard wiring is that the socket is free of wire clutter.
Alright mate, just ordered a dashcam to come back. Got question about fuses. On my diagram it shows accessories fuses as 15a and 10a. On actual checking fuses there 15a and 20a. So am I fine to piggyback either of these fuses? I’m just wondering as I thought dash cam would only be about 5a. Hope my question is clear enough cheers.
@@mikestrinati8918 ok checked ours I used the socket of an existing 5amp fuse on yours find out which device with the lowest ampage powers off when ignition off and piggy back on that socket.
You know what, you got me there.Id say no as soon as you turn ignition off the camera goes off,but this is my camera only im talking about. Some dashcams have a battery built in and will stay in parking mode when ignition turned off and will continue using its own battery. So I suppose its down to the particular dashcam your using.
Does it matter where you plug the 3 and 5 amp fuses back in? Can’t seem to get mine to work and not sure if they need to be swapped around or if it’s just faulty. Thanks
Is yours a Qashqai 2014-2017? have you got the same /similar kit with the piggyback connector?Take the fuse out like I did third from the right put it in the connector and then plug the connector with the two fuses on back in the fuse box(6mins 30 seconds to 6 mins 50 seconds on the video).I used that one as its an ignition controller fuse.
@@mginbolton yes mate, it’s a 2016 tekna. I used the same fuse that you have done in the video and followed all the other steps but still got nothing. I’ll have another play around tomorrow when it’s light again.

Anyone experiencing my problem? My dashcam is hardwired (by myself) into the permanent live ciggy lighter fuse socket. Occasionally, my Nissan NATs (immobiliser) goes off, siren blaring, on and off for around 10 minutes, four way flashers going off, engine still starts but of course I can't drive as the siren is sounding and the four way flashers won't switch off. Very inconvenient especially when I'm just off out the door for work. This happens once and a while, the first time this morning in around a month. I've read on another forum that the dashcam is draining so many amps from the car battery. The NATs, being a bit flickle, occasionally detects that the battery is being drained albeit a tiny amount, and sounds the alarm, four way flashers and so on. My Nissan Qashqai +2 is now on the drive, dashcam unplugged and I'm waiting to see (hear) if the alarm goes again. Anyone any experience of this or the NATs having problems? NATs = Nissan Anti-theft System).
