You always have great content, be it simple or complex. You make it fun and easy. I would like real outdoor gas lighting and after watching this video, maintenance seems easy. You have the heart of a teacher and that’s one of the reasons I tune in. Thanks Tamara 😎
Now you know how to clean them when you get them! 😉 I learned a lot from the crazy buildup on the lanterns here, and it definitely inspired me to keep them clean.
You can try soaking it with WD40 or some other type of penetrating lubricant and leaving it for an hour+. It is likely going to be stuck fast, so lots of patience will be required. You may have to repeat the application of the WD40 several times. I had to do this on one of mine that was at least a decade old also. That was what inspired me to make this a yearly task.🙂
How much does it cost to run gas lamps?? Also, some gun cleaning kits have mush stiffer nylon brushes as well as solvents for carbon buildup.. how do you think that would work?
I would think a gun cleaning kit would adapt well! A stiffer brush would definitely make this easier. These cost about $3 a month when they are on the candle flame type setting. The higher setting (fish tail) is closer to $7 a month.
@@MonkeysKnowI bought a house with a gas lamp. How do i change the setting ? My flame is too calm and I want it to dance a little bit like my neighbors.

But you didn’t teach us how to clean the copper 😢
Are you using LP or natural Gas, If LP, it's a very dirty gas....
Natural gas.
@@MonkeysKnow I'm shocked natural Gas is pretty clean gas...
I am fortunate it is pretty abundant (and inexpensive) in this area!
Any idea what to do when it hasnt been unscrewed in probably over a decade? Any tips for loosening? Torch?

It's just a pilot light, not much at all. Most people let their pilot lights run inside even in the summer because its not worth the hassle

What’s your issue with monkeys? Lol
