When I go to garage sales or estate sales, I never wear any of my jewelry and just wear basic jeans and a t-shirt. I want to look like I really need a good deal 😂

I do the same thing I take off all my gold when I go out thrifing because people can sometimes judge your wealth by what you're wearing. Also some vendors tend to jack the price up when it's another reseller.

This is just my experience, but I find that people from South/latin America tend to charge higher prices at garage sales. Not sure why is just something I noticed

It's an interesting technique and topic isn't it?: Hiding your income level/wealth to get better deal or avoid being categorized. I tend to dress "plain" when out in the field but I wouldn't go so far as to wear purposefully shabby or dirty clothing to appear lower income.
It also signals competitors what you're going after - If I see some girl Lulu'd out I'm going to try and beat her to activewear. If I see a guy rockin Arc'Teryx I know to get to outerwear before him... A vintage Kid with vintage T and dad hat?, Get to T's before them.. etc etc. Everything you do, say, buy and wear at the thrift says something.

The goal always is to get something that the seller doesn't know the value of. How many shoe brands are there vs. how many different clothing brands. Clothing always has the best shot at hitting a home run or at least a double.
