The patented Multi Access Warehouse by psb is setting standards in performance and flexibility. Basis of this innovative concept are the tote lifts, which are integrated into the storage aisles for the optimal utilization of the vario.sprinter shuttles. This enables extraordinary performance values with simple scalability and higher redundancy at the same time.
Extraordinary performance and flexibility
The main difference between the psb solution and conventional warehouse configurations is the larger number of tote lifts, which can be installed in a space-saving manner at any position within the storage aisles. Their number can be easily increased for additional capacity requirements. The lifts can further be equipped with two load handling devices and each aisle can be configurated with up to two shuttles on each level. The system shows its strengths especially in long and high warehouses with a high capacity, providing enormous performance reserves.
Through the configuration of the external conveyor technology being adapted to the special warehouse concept, the goods-in and picking areas can be directly connected with the Multi Access Warehouse. The shuttles direct the load handling devices to the appropriate lift, which transports it to the allocated workstation without transfer crossovers.
The warehousing capacity can be easily enhanced, either by extending the length of the aisles or by increasing their number. As it is very simple to add further tote lifts, a constant average aisle performance is guaranteed and an improved performance adapted to capacity increases is possible.
Further benefits of the Multi Access Warehouse
The installation of several tote lifts and the conveyor technology for the connection with the warehouse provides for a significantly increased redundancy. Each load handling unit can be handed over by different shuttles to different lifts and transported out of the warehouse via various conveyor connections. An intelligent safety concept ensures that during maintenance access the concerned storage aisle can still be used, even if several levels or individual lifts have been disabled.
By the possibility to deactivate at any time individual lifts, conveyor segments as well as the related order picking areas, psb ensures a very efficient warehouse utilization in off-peak periods with at the same time high performance reserves for peak times. Nevertheless, easy access to each load handling unit in the warehouse is possible in all operating scenarios.
