Mark Nowlin - I'm Not In Love (live take - no overdubs)

This is a live take playing my Nord Electro 6. Split keyboard with a Fender Rhodes on the left and mixed chorus Ahhs Mellotron sample on the right. The sustain pedal holds the chorus while I play the Rhodes. The legendary middle part is another program with several custom samples captured with Audacity and mapped to the keyboard with the Nord Sample Editor. The mysterioius whispering and wind chimes were captured from a video here about how the 10cc song was made. The whispering is triggered by a programmed key set to play as long as the key is held (only way), but the wind chimes....I programmed them to the very last key on the board, and to get them to loop, I pushed the tapered end of a wooden clothes pin, separated from the metal coil, between the key and the frame of the Nord. (Tried the traditional matchbook - too flimsy!) The "heartbeat" percussion is the Sdrum pedal, electronic kick drum. (Unfortunately Sdrum can't help but add a few unwanted fills. :( )Full diclosure: there is an edit at the ending - playing it live, I went a little too long with the chorus wash. lol
