I learned a lot from the 100 head challenge. It really helped me understand the proportions of the face. It also pushed me into doing more reference studies so after I finished the challenge, I started studying full figures, hands and feet. I'm a way better artist than I was a few months ago. Thanks!
I did the 100 hundred heads challenge in eleven days with pencil, so this time I'll challenge myself to do the 50 in the 10 days with watercolours. I want to get more lose with my whole process and I think it'll help me with the blocking of big shapes. This is so exciting...
good sir, i memorized your art style enough that when i see a drawing anywhere that have certain 'looseness', i know its yours keep drawing, your arts inspired me to draw again after so many years.
Thank you ahmed for being a constant source of insurance to me, you built a wonderful community of people who tried on art. I wish you all the best in life with all my heart . You, sycra and sinix are best people.
Ah, its fun to see the process on these! They really embody the idea of "every step in the painting could be a finish in and of itself" but you keep going and flesh them out more and more. Especially the bald headed woman, theres like 10 paintings within that process!!
This is a very interesting prompt which I'm tempted to do myself. I've been itching to draw something that I wouldn't put too much expectations on but at the moment I'm overwhelmed in terms of time and commitment (lockdown with a toddler is a bit hard). That said, there is something so soothing about your voice that almost tells me "Hey, do it. See how it goes and don't fuss too much." so thanks for that, whatever it is the Jedi trick you do. :)
It's your challenges that really boost me. From here to your pinterest, which has more challenges. Your commentary helps a lot, but also: just collecting all of the images. Personally, when I decide to work on something, I spend far more time searching and collecting references than I do drawing. But you've collected a few focused topics on pinterest, which I thank you for.
It sure feels refreshing to keep seeing your new video I really love it! I've been having artblock for months and now I'm slowly getting it again. Thanks Med!
I discovered the original challenge a month ago but I’m trying to do it without the time requirements. I’m up to head 15. I started by just trying to improve my proportions which I have now I’m focusing on what creates the variation in the faces. It’s been a lot of fun.
I do this thing where occasionally if i notice my art style is getting a bit too stylized or cartoony I study realism or semi realism for a little bit. I wish I knew about Ahmed earlier because his art always helps me when doing these "Art Checks". I don't know if anyone else does this. Currently I'm studying his art, and I want to try this challenge or the because the 100 heads one seems.... a bit extreme for me.
so excited for this ! last year i joined but unfortunately failed, i am now in college for game art and have found new inspiration and motivation to become better! my goal is to learn proportions and to grasp form and "shape insight" (dont know the english word so i litterly translated hehe) i will definitely be posting them : D
Neat! It's interesting that you draw this way, mainly by observation rather than construction. You're plotting the shapes' relative position to one another, which is great when you have a clear reference but can be slow. I bet if you use the constructive approach (Loomis, Bridgeman, etc) you can drop your time from 30m per head to about 20min per head with this same level of finish.
Awesome Challenge I'm brand new to digital art started last year and I just switched to computer. Guess I'll start this challenge to learn and improve.
ah how cool, I just started the 100 head challenge but now I want to do this one too! love the flexibility and focus on consistency and growing through just practicing and building up skills. this video is so motivating :) (also, love your art! its really cool to see your process)
I layed out the 100 heads back in the last challenge. I didn't sketched them as well as I intended, but it was some mileage, it's a great challenge! I intend to do another challenge like that in the future with different pictures
Also, one time you said (I think it was for the hands challenge) 'this will mean I'm drawing hands about 4 hours a day. Which is about average for an art student (paraphrasing)'. That really helped me A LOT, as I'm not a student. I'm just grinding really hard to get better, and that gave me a bar to reach for. A level to get competitive with. I still can't make the time to draw for 4hrs after work, but I'll make it up in other ways. I know that some how, I will beat the art student's ass.
I'm currently doing the challenge but I'm taking a long time cause I'm really trying to get the proportions right. It took almost an hour per head at the beginning. But now I'm at no 51 and things are moving way faster. I only get time to draw once a week. So I do like 5-6 heads a week. But I've got this far and I'm definitely gonna keep going. Might do this challenge again in the future but actually try to complete it in 10 days.
i got to 70 heads and then my computer broke.. i mean i guess that breaks the timelimit if i ever get to continue that set, but i had so much fun with it. i really hope i can post my set of 100 one day. maybe ill give this one a shot for now instead.
I started the challenge yesterday, but my plan is that i want to draw in my sketchbook everyday at least one of them. And i want to challenge myself to use new materials and in gerneral just to improve my art
I remember doing the 100 Meds Heads challenge almost a year ago. I only managed to do 30, but it was still a valuable experience. Definitely starting this one. I'm curious what will come out of all this:D By the way I like how you stylized all the portraits. It really does look great *_ *
Nice challenge! Sounds great and I thought I'd like to participate ... But then I saw that the 50 pins on your link are mainly pretty, slim models. Which is pretty boring, man! For me at least ...
I always wonder if the people on the boards have ever seen or reacted to all the different ways they were drawn
Katiana Myrthil me too. 😅
Kai Tea Probably at least one
They are not real
Perfect ending on this video. xD I'm definitely considering starting this up on Monday!
me 2 man
@arleebean I hope you'll do a video about it! :D

Took me over 5 months but I finally finished this challenge! It was a lot of fun 😄
Thank you ahmed for being a constant source of insurance to me, you built a wonderful community of people who tried on art. I wish you all the best in life with all my heart . You, sycra and sinix are best people.

Put in the milage of understanding proportion, lighting, forms, shape design
