Beetle spins are a classic lure. There is a reason they're still making them
Also the frog is supposed to go under slightly and float in order to mimic a real small frog. Its not effective in creeks but its better in ponds and over grown ponds
Creme Lures are some of the most fish producing baits I have ever used. I would give them a better day of testing. I have used them for 30+ years
That little crankbait I bought for $0.98 I caught my PB bluegill at 11 and 1/2 inches in Ohio
Devin Sipple ummmmmmmmmmm ok
Not that big
A bluegill thats half an inch off of 12 feet is pretty large dude. Good job
I live in ohio
Damn my pb is 10 inches and i thought that was huge haha
Brother the Beetlespin is a legendary lure from the golden days of fishing lol
Tru
I catch everything on a beetle spin, not only panfish but also game fish such as pike and bass.
@@jamesluck2969 ... I've been using the beetle spin lures for over 35 years, caught tons of bass on them including silver bass and small mouth, also caught huge suckers, catfish and even carp... what I like best about them is that they are almost snag proof... also that vibrating blade makes them ideal in muddy and stained water. Another nice thing about these lures is you can replace that rubber grub with a wide assortment of other plastic/rubber swim baits and even live worms and minnows... in my book it's probably the best over all lures ever made
I'm new to fishing, so I have yet to catch anything on one yet, because I usually end up throwing my light blue crankbait, but I've been told it's a classic and you can't go wrong throwing it.
I get it for 1.67
brendan’s the type of dude to buy the $12.99 Shakespeare rod just to get the tackle box with assorted grubs and bobbers 😩
Jackson Smith i just go on amazon and buy those kits or go to my tackle shop and buy some outdated swimbaits and rattle traps
the tall fisherman r/whoosh
that is 100 percent me tho
@ Jackson Smith... a lot of junk they sell catches way more fishermen than fish
You're the type of country boy who would record them self doing dip thinking they're cool 😒
I tried using the frog for shits and giggles last summer and even though it was hard to cast, I caught a couple sunfish and some decent sized bass with it going through the lilypads.
People can say what they want about the beetlespin, but they are crappie catching machines. Bring them in real slow on a warm night.
The frog is a top water, why would u want it to go underwater? U should have tried this in still water
Exactly
Just before the sun breaks the horizon without a ripple on the lake tossing these right next to shore where large mouth bass are feeding just before sun-up when they retreat to deeper water. I used rapala floating minnows but fished them like you would a frog or my other favorite the Hula Popper. Red and white or frog pattern.
I was thinking the same thing. It's no supposed to go underwater 😅
The lure sinks
Its a crap lure, they don’t float
Beetle Spin is the best bait made for that $.
Hey, the beetlespin is also one of my favorite lures I love fish with it. I mainly like fishing with the one that is white with the red dot. I also use the spinner. I have caught several bass, bream, and one or two perch. It's a really good bait for its price
The Beetle Spin actually works - I use these with a Shakespeare Micro Spinning Rod.
Just FYI those old creme worms and frog in your videos are like parts of fishing history ... that company started in the 40ties and were revolutionary in their time ... I get them now and again to catch fish because they remind me of my grandfather .. 😬👍🏼
I've caught so many panfish and small bass on those frogs in my childhood.
Fred Arborgast, created the Jitter Bug which is hands down one of the best top water lures. Now lures are made to catch fishermen by the wallet. It's getting hard to find the old tested and true lures anymore. Oh don't want to forget the lure made just down the highway from here. Swedish Pimple. The name comes from the Swedish word "pimpla," meaning to jig. The Swedish Pimple was created by two brothers more than 50 years ago based on successful jigging lures in Sweden. They started the Bay de Noc Lure Company and developed a line of productive fishing lures that continue to be crafted by hand today.
The Beetle Spin is one of the best and most time tested baits of all time. I've caught Largemouth, Bluegill, Redbreast, Redear, Crappie, White Bass, White Perch, Fliers, Pumpkinseed, Chain Pickerel, Bowfin, Green Sunfish, and Warmouth on them. The value is just the icing on the cake when it comes to the good ole' Beetle Spin.
Woah, beetle spin are good???!!?!? No dip, they're one of the highest praised panfish lures ever. And isn't the frog a topwater bait? Why would you want it to go under the water.
Aiden Aguirre there underwater most of the time
Lord Tachanka ummm... what? Topwater frogs are supposed to float, haven't you heard of bass blowing up on a bait?
Brian Moore you and me both
That exact frog has pulled decent fish out of the pads for me.
Caught my pb bass, bluegill, and bowfin on beetle spins.
Beetlespins are da truth. I usually replace the plastic lure with a 1” grub. It’ll catch everything in the lake.
The micro crank bait is actually awesome
Beetle spins can slay! More than worth the few cents they cost.
Jack Black dude, too funny! Your a comments tough guy ehh?
Michael Perez nothing tough about it. You chose me not vice versa ... remember that.
Jack Black well Jesus loves you bro, god bless!
Michael Perez Jesus loving me has nothing to do with the decay your people have brought to my country. Donate to fairus.org to keep the USA white and Christian.
Jack Black lmao this is fishing
The spoiler shad is an amazing creek lure. I’ve used it in my local creek and caught a ton of green sunfish, 2 bass, and a warmouth. The bass were decent chunks too. It held up to all of those fish until the plastic started ripping, it started running sideways, and the hookup ratio turned to garbage.
I agree, nearly caught some decent sunfish on it
The creme worm is my all time favorite worm. I've caught hundreds bass and they are dirt cheap. By far one of my favorite baits
Same I have a whole tackle box full of cream soft plastic
The Beetle Spin is one of the best multi species baits out there. From pan fish, to bass, to trout, and I’ve even seen a guy catch pike on it, it is a really good bait for searching out fish. (And it’s dirt cheap)
I have some of the mini crank baits and my experience with it lines up with his testing perfectly.
Garrett Lowery I just nailed some sick sunfish here with it the other day
Beetle spins are my go to for crappies
The frog is not trash. I catch european chub up to 2 pounds on it. I just drag it in front of the fish on the surface.
I have that frog and I got a massive blowup on it
Awesome swim bait.
I will have to try it like that!
I have catched A huge pike of 1m7cm in the netherlands with A frog
Teo Fly fishing your right they are top water baits and they work great
That crank bait is for fishing 1-2 ft deep.
The shad is great for sun fish or fishing for bait fish.
cheap is my middle name
Mantaris Cheap Loser lol nice
I go cheap too. Fishing fast skinny rivers I can't afford to lose $ 15-$20 lures. Every trip out.
Good one
2packs of yum dingers, hooks, and wacky O-ring keepers. Buy it all for $10 on Amazon, get it in 2 days and each senko lasts me about 100 casts or 5 fish
I’m sad to report my friend bought that frog and caught a bluegill. I was shocked and angry at the same time
One of the best bargain baits you can get at Walmart is a $5, 5 pack of creme tiny rattle traps, there great to use for Crappie and Bass Fishing.
Amazing video! But why didn't you do the $1 wal-Mart spinner bait?
The South Bend spinners work. The Ozark Trail spinners don't spin.
Ol beetle spin was the first lure i ever caught a fish on!I've always had one in my go to lune up since!
My first cast on a beetle spin got me my pb 7 lb. Been catching fish ever since
Beetle spins are totally worth it. work well on "farm pond" bass and sometimes large pan-fish. the spinner clip can be put on any jig to make crappie or just small spinners for shallow ponds etc.
Beetle spins work pretty well. I've even caught some big fish on them.
Beetlespin was a fantastic beginner bait, it grew my confidence like no other.
06:48 Your mustache fell off bro😲
In Da Cut ,,, nice catch man. LMFAO
In Da Cut OML😂
In Da Cut he knew we were on his ass lmao 😂😂
I caught a 7-8lb largemouth on a $1 buzzbait from Walmart lol
Ben McHargue i caught a 2lb bass using a $19.99 booyah spinner
Caught my first 6 pound bass on that same frog! About 16 years ago!
Beetle spin best multi species lure of all time imo. They make sizes up to 1/2 oz.
Creme worm works well on drop shot too.
Beetle spins are great bass lures and do catch big bass
There's always a beetle spin in my box. That small swimbait works great for smallies, in the skinny rivers I fish. Also slayed a couple 2-3 lb parties in a pond.
As a father of 3 thanks for spending your money so I don't have to spend mine. I love your videos.
Beetle spin is legend
I've used that exact frog and it works really good
I've used the frog on the edge of lilly pads and gotten a decent response from bass. Water snakes try to take it also, so heads up.
The spoiler shad is my all time favorite bait,I've caught a ton of fish on them!
I put the tail of the swimbait in hot water. makes it soft and gives it more action. I use those swimbaits for busting bass on small shad. cast it in the middle of the wolf pack and slow roll it back to boat . gets hammered. this swimbait is money for me in that situation.
I went fishing with the Beetle Spin and on my first cast I could see a bass following it. Later that day, with the same Beetle Spin, I caught a 3lb bass.
Beetle spins are awesome, caught a lot of largemouth last year with them.
That Vsauce intro tho
The beetle spin is one of the best creek baits I've ever used imo.
The frog isn't supposed to dive. It's meant to be a floater. He is expecting more or something different from it than what is intended. I do doubt that it has any real action or that the legs kick much BUT if you're mostly looking for a reaction bite (when it first lands in the water), it would work fine for that.
The little crankbait is hindered mostly by its diminutive size. Any tiny little crankbait is going to be somewhat erratic and unpredictable. A very light line (2 or 4 lb) should remedy that (a little).
that crappy frog as you call it is actully an awesome top water lure,in the UK summer months this frog was great sport catchiing pike after pike, fished next to lillies, reeds and in the margins with a nice twitch.Downside was the rear legs were bit off quite often
Brendan: who in there right mind would buy this?
Also Brendan: buys it.
I know those cream spoiler shads don't look like much but the three inch version catches sooooo many fish! I've caught many snook and every single bass that I caught in my life was on a blue three inch spoiler shad.
That little crank bait is out standing for panfish. And the Creme minnow thing, I've caught a northern pike, carp, and smallmouth on it, all in my small pressured creek.
CalebGVS ikr!🌩🌩
I catch gar on them if you use it as a topwater because it is small enough they can eat it
The little bitty crankbait i use on my flyrod during summer for panfish, and during winter i have caught a couple rainbow trout with it too. Ive had it for almost 6 years lol cant believe its still lasting. Mine is gold metallic on top and turns chrome/silver towards the belly
CalebGVS yup just now used that little crank bait today. Caught me 11 bluegill in just about an hour. They were going crazy for that little thing
The frog is a topwater
This is kinda depressing, I own and use all of them regularly, I just bought 3 more of the tiny crank baits, and can vouch for the shad, it's my most used lure
I’ve caught many fish on ozark trail and other cheap Walmart lures especially the frog I caught more bass on on it than my kvd sexy frog and the creme lures are amazing I use the creme stick baits and flukes all the time
The frog on a hook almost caught my 8 eight year old brother a monster largemouth bass. It would've easily been one of the biggest largemouth bass I've ever seen but he unfortunately lost it because he was 8 and was using a super man pole that was atleast 10 years old from Walmart.
I think the minnow would work well with the spinner blade from the beetle spins
I use the beetle spin all the time it works perfect I cant believe you don't use that
Do a challenge to fish with them
14fishing oh don’t expect a fishing video from this guy lol
cashyn murray really why? He was just in my recommended lol
As stated in other comments, the frog is a TOPWATER lure. I have the same frog, but it has a weedless hook. I also have the beatlespins and swimbaits.
That worm has worked extremely well for me, multiple 4s caught with it! Plus the beetle spins are dope.
I've caught tons of fish on that stupid little frog from creme.
Same
I fish with the translucent minnow all the time and I catch 1 to 4 pounders often on it one of my favorites for it's great price and eh okay action but you get what you pay for and I catch bass on it all the time
My best day ever, i caught 15 bass on 1 single beetle spin in a matter of about 20 or 30 minutes.. it was so much fun!that beetle spin was beat afterwards.. but worth every penny
Dude you should use the beetlespin more often my dad introduced me to the beetlespin and I love it last time I went fishing I caught a little large mouth and two decent large mouth bass all around just really cool bait!!!
You should have used a snap swivel for the minnow. If you tie the line directly to the minnow it won't allow it to run correctly. Like when you said it ran on its side the swivel would allow it to run upright.
I'd love to see this video revisited with the lures tested on live fish. I have personally used three of these lures at times and I have caught fish on all three of them. I love fancy high tech lures as much was anyone, but often times the cheap starter section fishing lures are cheap and in the starter section for a reason... they work in a variety of contexts.
Beetle spins and roostertails are my go2 for crappie, bluegill, sunfish and bass.
You can boil soft plastics to soften them up it improves the action but they'll tear up easier when a fish bites it
Let's see you fish using random vender machine toys made into lures!
the creme minnow with the spinner from the beetle spinner, great for lil bass.
Believe it or not Ive actually slammed a few SMB on that frog when my other frogs were not producing. I was fishing it like a top water bait and getting good blow ups. I didn't think it would work that well when I first bought it but it was so cheap I would give it a try and I worked.
That creme lure minnow is one of my favorites
i grew up using those beetle spins. My dad always used them and caught some big fish, caught a 6lb smallie and a 8lb largemouth. I still use them some of the times, but nie they are just something you’d find in an old tackle box you bought at a pawn shop
My little sister caught a big pb bluegill on a creme rattle trap, first time fishing. Definitely worth .97 cents. I'll always have creme lures on me.
The little crank baits work really well in slow or no current. Crème has nailed the market on buying cheap Chinese baits and repackaging them. I got 10 of those little crankbaits for $4 shipped. I do find a fast retrieve or current makes them act funky.
The crank bait is great for catching hungry blue gill. I was fishing a pond maybe a 25 yard by 25 yard pond. They loved it. I was catching two at a time some times on it. I live in Alabama and fishing this year has been Garbo.
I caught my first like on the beetle spin sounds funny I was just a lil kid I was play in front of my grandpa's dock and I was doing figure 8s in the water and bam I caught it was only like 20 inches long but it was my first like oh I also learned they have teeth I still have the scar lol
The White beetle spin with the red dot is the Bream killer in my neck of the woods! I Have also caught big bass with a beetle spin.
back in the early 1970`s when i was a kid , they had some of these lures back then , this one older man that worked at Kmart near my home would always tell me that these lures were made for kids and to be used on old zebco 202 rods and reels. i use to buy those worms all the time and the beetle spin and the frog. ive caught fish with all of them on my old 1974 zebco 202 rod and reel. that older man was not wrong. i remember when creme , mr.twister were just about the only artificial worms you could get in my neck of the woods in north texas, back then a big pack of worms cost about a dollar each and the old eagle hooks were all we could afford with our allowances and pinch on gremlin weights. man , those were the days. p.s. try the little frog on a pond sometime with calm water. you will be suprised
I had a small barracuda follow me in on the mini crankbait. I ended up catching it on a fly, but it was still cool to watch.
You can get the minnow thing in blue too....i use it all the time on a spinner and catch all kinds of bass and crappie
Yep, beetle spins are very good for small mouth and crappie. The spinner its self is great for attaching to any jig head
I have used all of those baits and the crankbait you were a little critical of was actually my favorite. I fish in a very shallow creek making a tiny lure like this very effective. My biggest problem with it besides the ones you mentioned, is the fact that the hook on it is garbage. I had two of the treble hook tips pop off on micro-fish. This left the tips of the hooks stuck in the fishes' throats... With some cheap eagle claw treble hooks, it does great for my fishing spots.
when (or if) you have kids you'll enjoy these cheep baits that will get broken off in trees, played with in the boat (worms without hooks) etc. Get stuff that you don't mind loosing and you'll be happy and they get to fish like the big people without the bobbers...
I already have all of them and them, the bream crank bait is good and the beetle spin is amazing
The frog actually got a offset hook which is made to hide hook a bit so you can fish weedless through plants
The funny thing about it when i just started fishing predators i used a similar actionless frog and put it on a 15g jighead and just let it sink to the bottom real fast and pulled it up even faster and a nice northernpike attacked it. I was like wtf i did not even expect to attract anny fish with that silly action
Honestly that little frog Ive caught dozens and dozens of small bass on. Mostly from the same local pond. I keep a few in my small water tackle box as cheap little throw aways I dont mind risking.
the little single hook crankbait works good, I buy the 5 pack assortment of them from Walmart and use them for bluegill and crappie with really good success.
Beetle spins are very good. You can catch just about anything on one. I remeber one day when I went fishing at my local river, I threw the kitchen sink out there for about 2 hours. I gave up and decided to throw a beetle spin on my light set up(w/ 10lb line) to catch a panfish. Then I hooked up on a 2+lb small mouth, pretty large for a small river. I just wish I had used a bit of a stiffer rod cause after fighting the fish from swimming into a brush pile he jumped completely out of the water and shook the hook out. So if you do use it, be prepared for a lager fish. Also I've realized just a slow reel to keep the blade spinning with some twitches is a great retrieve for it.
The $1 creme hard bait box at Walmart is awesome. My dad and I bought a few of the lipless crankbaits and 3 casts in, my dad ended up with a 28 inch pike. Hooks are sharp, but a little fragile too. After that pike we had to replace the hooks.
A crank bait should never just run straight. Erratic action is what gets the fish excited. Keven VanDam is the man to listen to on all things fishing. Watch him to learn how to properly use a crankbait. He won the Bassmasters on crank bait several times.
I use the minnow one all the time and it does catch fish, it is surprisingly good they even come in different colors. Except it falls apart after a couple bites. Good thing they come 3 in a pack
I had used the tiny crank bait and put an 1/8 oz. split shot and missed a couple. I would probably use a tiny bobber on the frog
Not all lures are are meant for fast moving water such as streams. I've never seen a frog in a stream maybe that's because they are pond and lake lures!! It makes a difference if you know how to use lures - which lures to use based on water conditions, the weather, which fish type your fishing for, the type of body of water your fishing in, speed you reel them in, and the time of the year in which your fishing. Price and brand name mean nothing. In order to find out how a lure "performs" would require using it.
Don't sleep on the beetle spin, I've seen a 34" tiger muskie caught on one in person.
Damn
The small creme crankbait works best with a stop go retrieve love these
I have very good luck with those white jigs and spinners catching crappie. I prefer the curly tales but those work as well.
