The 5 & 6 inch Wild Eye Shad has account for quite a few giants for me ~ Such a killer bait and a huge sleeper in the category.

I fished a much smaller version of this back in the day called a super shad I believe it was from Renowsky lures or something like that best I remember.
I fished from the back of the boat with a friend and just threw it everywhere and jigged it up and down back to the boat.
I had great luck with that bait.

I have seen these baits catch monster fish in both fresh and saltwater. Also I have seen hair jigs( bucktails) smoke some monster fish.

Pretty sure Cabella's has been making this swimbait for years. Although I would assume the action on the Storm model is a little better.

In my lake is the 2" to 3" shade swim stOrm bait. Got bigger but not much hits like the smaller ones. On a medium power fast or medium heavy moderate action. Just where I bass fish.

This is the first year I am using Berkley powerbait HD Tru color swimbaits in 3 and 4inch. Bluegill 1/4oz yellow perch 7/16oz, Sexy shad 7/16oz, Rainbow Trout 7/16oz. All baits are pre-rigged. I am using a Quantum smoke 7 foot med with a Quantum smoke S3 baitcaster with Sufix siege mono 12lb and a second reel with 14lb. I am a bank fisherman fishing river current here in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. I have used one swimbait a few weeks, lost it where I shouldn't have cast it in a small brush pile about 40 feet out from the riverbank. In current should I stay with a steady retrieve or drag and stop with the swimbait.

I found the 4 inch versions way too heavy for shallow water, they plow through the silt or collect huge bunches of salad. The bigger ones have a worse problem. You can tune them by opening the belly with a knife then trimming the lead back by about half with bolt or wire cutters. Re seal the belly with a soldering iron.. With about half the weight the 4 inch work great in water maybe 6 to 10 foot deep.

Just did this to a 6” to fish shallow or from the bank. Very easy to cut the lead with snips once you’ve sliced the belly open i took 1/2oz out of the bait, most of the added weight, but left enough for it to run true, hopefully, and not drop like a rock. Used mend it to seal it back up.
