Here is a list of Caran d ache rich pastel pencils colours I use: numbers...
Primary colours/ Complementary colours...
Reds... 788-060, 080
Yellows... 788- 240, 530, 035
Blue... 788- 145
Orange 788-052
Purple 788-099
Green 788-719
Rich colours I sometime use for the bright areas in dark skin tones...
788- 541, 542, 871, 581. 068
Carbothello pencils are... green 1400/585, red... 305, orange, 221, lemon yellow 205, yellow ochre 685 and white 100. For dark skin these extra pencils I use... burnt sienna /655 Browns /640, 635 I don't use this brand's blues as the lightfastness is very poor. so I use Conti a Paris ones for them,... No10, No 06, No 22 and No46. Also the purple red for the deep shadows ... No19
If you can afford it I would recommend buying the sets as the extra colours would be very useful for clothes and backgrounds and can work out cheaper per pencil... affiliate links below.

Once I was told that you cannot mix colors with Pastel. Dave mix them very easily!

Hi i just stumbled on your channel. I enjoy art so much. I would say i am ok at drawing but recently i have taken up adult colouring as a hobby. In particular portraits. I find your tutorials on skin invaluable. Just knowing how to mix these colours are helping me so much. I want my portraits to look realistic. Your teaching skills are amazing and calming. HI makaila, thank you so much! you are very welcome... thrilled you are enjoying them and getting value from them too. To complete a Portrait in pastels can take up to 20 hours at the easel, depending on the amount of work involved. All the very best with your art endeavours 💕🙏
