I would just add some soil to the low places. That way you will keep the lawn you have and it will fill in much faster
You can buy a load of top soil and use existing tools for less than tiller rent
You know you’re crazy chicken people when… hehehhe
Poor Kinsley. It's hard to diet..,😊
I was going to say about the chicken feed possibly being a factor in the high number of roosters, as @jeanhecker4533 said. Additionally I believe the temperature of the incubator in the first 24 hours can make a difference. 98.4 for hens, 100.4 for roosters. This does not impact meat birds, though.
It may be worth investigating?
I’ve never raised chickens but the food you are giving your breeders may account for the abundance of roosters. If there are hormones to increase fertility or to increase size it could be the issue. Just a thought
The homestead is looking really good you two!
the wild birds would love the dogs hair for nesting beds hugssss
Hey Katie,
I don't know how scientific this is, but I have heard that the more pointy eggs will hatch out cockrells, and the more round eggs will hatch out pullets. I thought you might could try incubating more round eggs the next time you hatch out a clutch and see if you end up with fewer roosters.
The brooder is indeed full of cuteness overload!
If you shear her I will buy her fleece. 😁🥰
Have a great weekend 😊
