Big Mom is a Top 5 Devil Fruit user. The way she uses her fruit to make minions, an entire country, and the insane variety of her attacks makes this indisputable imo.
The thing about her fruit is that it is a jack of all trades, making it so scary. Regeneration, manipulation of basically any substance but in a different way(gives it life and puts it under her control, which is pretty heavy if we look at Zeus in case of reliable control), also the control over thunder and extreme heat just on top and at the same time, unlike the actual devil fruit users, also keeping those things alive is not stamina draining, unlike actually using your fruit powers for an extended time or if you are in a fierce combat.

Everything Big Mom does with her fruit costs someone years or decades of their lifespan and using someone else's soul has vastly diminished returns. I'm pretty sure the "take other people's souls" thing was the awakened power of the fruit as well. So for Big Mom it's less about making a payment now but putting it on credit to be paid later at exorbitant interest rates.
I love those moments where that erratic big mom mentality is shown, in a few seconds she doesn't care about anything or anyone even her children and 3 seconds later she unleashes her yonko fury for a girl she didn't know she liked her.
The coolest thing about this sequence is that Big Mom let nami and Usopp try. She didn’t interfere until she knew they’d lost the fight. Giving her enemies the utmost respect. Love to see it.

I miss big mom so much already. She is such a scary character because she's so mentally unstable that you literally don't know what she's going to do at any given moment. And she's so powerful that which way that pendulum ends up swinging since huge ripples down whichever side she ends up striking against at a given moment. And because her moods and allegiance is so fluid even if she's on your side you can't feel safe because she could turn at basically the drop of a hat

The fact that Ulti took a direct hit from one of the strongest attacks a Yonko had, and not only survived but managed to get back up from is absolutely insane.

Big Mom infusing her devil fruit powers with swordsmanship is brilliant, and this attack was nicely done by the animators. This whole episode felt like a movie. Spoilers: The fact that Ulti survived this is insane.
People don't seem to get that Zoan DF are complete BS when it comes to endurance, we saw it with Pell in Alabasta, we saw it with the guardian beasts in Impel Down, we saw it with Chopper in Water 7 when the guy could move a few hours after getting beaten almost to death then using a form that shaved away at his life. Zoans are one of the most BS fruits in the series and that is saying something.
Man Ulti is a fricking BEAST to have survived this. Remember that Big Mom is capable of just casually bodying Queen with physical power. Meanwhile she unleashed a full on combo attack with her strongest homies here and really WANTED to nail her to the wall. Yeah Ulti got wrecked, but she LIVED. Thats some straw hat luffy level durability.
People do tend to take that stuff for granted in Shonen. Maybe you got defeated, but the fact you survived an overwhelming attack like that, it's worth better note than being called "weak" afterwards.

The amount of luck for Nami & Usopp to be saved by BIG MOM of all people is sending me though. This is like, 1 of the few fights where they couldn't trick their way into victory cuz Ulti was eating up every attack.
oh nami did better. she dodged a thunder sent at her in the sky island, empowered the laguna waves in water7 to reach for robin, caused phisical harm to luffy which is made of rubber and similar feat that suggest some kind of haki effect on her. the most important one was when she was a child and screamed to arlong and his crew to stop, they stopped for 3 seconds, staring in the void and then resumed liked they ddint notice to have been phisically blocked.

It's amazing how some of these characters have the most op powers and still don't use them to the full extent. Moria could take everyone's shadows and simply leave them in the sun. Big moms power is basically the extent of her imagination in a way.
Actually, Moria CAN'T dispose of his victims after stealing their shadows. If they die, their shadows also disappear. As for Big Mom, the homies she creates are limited by what their bodies are made of and which soul fragments she uses. Napoleon, Prometheus and Hera are way more powerful than other homies because they were created from fragments of Big Mom's own soul.

Big Mom is big time underrated imo. I mean everbody has scars except for her, as far as we know, and just imagine all the battles she had. Also her devil fruit is broken af and she knows how to use it to the fullest. If not for plot, id say she def top 5 in the OP world.
Just look at her fight with brook though he couldnt even pierce her skin and i doubt many could hard gain scars when her skin is stronger than the hardest of metals. She strong as Hell.
I have to disagree with the title of this video. I don't think Big Mom did that to save Nami, but more to attack Ulti. Saving Nami was a byproduct of that. If Ulti had killed Nami first, I doubt Big Mom would've cared outside of the effect it'd have had on Otama.
Big Mom does have a soft spot for kids, so she probably did it for Tama's sake as well as getting a good shot in on Ulti. Especially cause she only did this after it was shown Tama was on the verge of tears at Nami being about to die.
Think Big Mom is the most creative when it comes to using a devil fruit, the amount of ways she can attack and the amount of different power sets she has is nuts.
Henry Thurlow greatness. Once again he drop a masterclass animation here on the Big Mom attack. This is my second personal favorite of his, the first one is the Scabbards hallway black and white scene on episode 995. Phenomenal animator!
In terms of Devil fruit users... She's my favorite villain. Simply because she's not truly a villain. She's someone who had too much trauma, and not enough support in her early years. The people she looked up to either had nefarious intentions, or turned their backs on her when she needed them most. It's no wonder she's so spectacularly unstable, as even her attempts to create the life she wished she had as a child, reflects how her trauma has negatively affected her perception of how it should look. In some ways, she actually does really good things. Yeah, the soul tax is a bit disturbing, but those people directly benefit from that, so long as not too much is taken. Most people in the Whole Cake Islands live far better lives than many outside of her territory. Sure, having a mentally unstable ruler causes problems, but when there aren't any external influences, it appears as though the citizens know how to mitigate those issues to a surprisingly competent degree. Just think about how that place would be if she was mentally stable though, and stable in the manner her child version is when it comes to helping others. She probably would be considered one of the most desirable of rulers in the whole of that world. Strong enough to protect those who can't protect themselves... 🤔 Anyways, I do wish she could have an encounter that heals those past traumatic years enough to help her move beyond it in a positive direction. 🙄
Eh I'd say part of that instability was due her own biology, but sincerely if she had had a good caretaker and strick (in a good sense) education I believe she could have come around that
I love how these two episodes with Big Momma showcase that she wasn't serious against Luffy, kid and Law. And is just now flexing how easy it is for her to do Luffys Ryo Haki technique and this attack which would have killed them for sure!

Prometheus: “Quick, Napoleon! Climb through my mouth!” Page One could recover from being punched to the ground. Ulti’s got a hole through her sternum. Not many live a comfortable life after that.
Despite how this scene looks, Ulti is a beast. She takes so many direct attacks from Big Mom and just keeps going. I honestly can't think of many characters who could do that.
Even knowing this was probably just so Tama doesn't get absolutely heartbroken (since Big Mom does care about Tama at least, since she has the soft spot for young kids), its still awesome to see Big Mom actually SAVE Nami here.
seeing big mom use her devilfruit in such interesting ways make me think she has easily the top devilfruit or really close to the top. She displays such immense power with only her own souls strength, imagine if big mom instead of having all those homies in her territory focused them into even more personal strong ones like Hera or Napoleon. If big mom was smarter she'd easily be the strongest alive atm.
Big mom underrated asf, this attack has similar or on par damage as the thunder bagua. She should have hit kid and law with one of these attacks. Imagine this attack clashing with kid’s damned punk in a kamehameha-like beam struggle
I think in the last 10 episodes BM has shown 3 of the like current top 10 strongest attacks ever. Fulgora, her conq. Slam of page 1, and then this. She is an absolute calamity with the mindset of a traumatized 6 year old

Spoilers. He also decided to leave out her crew for a reason, the raid would have failed. This is why i think they had to do so much jank to finish her off Vs Kidd and Law, she beat them like 3 times and then just left them there to get back up. Then goes on to be beaten by ring out, some nukes, lava, a long sword and a explosion. (Solving 2 problems for the Alliance) Like she has healing, can augment her strength, combine her homies, without them she has adv Conquerors, and too physicaly durable for even Kidd (Not saying much but) to do ANY damage throughout the fight besides push her back and forth. She's a Tank with OP DPS and spells on top of that, she didn't have a weaknesses, besides the ones ODA made up on the spot. (Hunger pain, amnesia, weird Cases where she doesn't use CC Haki, sould pocus being useless against top tiers.)
Even if she wasn't mentally unstable there would still be a few characters that could defeat her. But in writing if you have an extremely op character you have to give them some type of flaw or they will be unlikable. The most fun one is usually to make them dumb/naive. Look at goku, luffy, big mom, naruto, saitama, etc, etc all extreme battle prodigies but having the flaw of being morons or apathetic.
He made her so strong he had to throw her into a hole she can't climb out of because its the only way a character as powerful as she is is staying down

Look at it in this way for those saying Big Mom has a Devil Fruit Crutch in this scene and thats only why she's strong: Different fruits require different strategies to use, and some people rely on specifically their fruits power for these strategies depending on when they had gotten them in the first place and what they do -Luffy was already undergoing training to become stronger, eating the fruit in most peoples eyes would have been a mistake with how his limbs just drooped or how hard his arm is to control if throwing a long punch to where most people would probably only use it for the effect of bullet and blunt attack immunity, however Luffy, despite taking 10 years, worked hard to make the fruit as useful as it was when he left the island, even more true today. Luffy basically proved even if he hadn't ate the fruit, he still woulda left the island strong, just without having to focus on learning the fruit so possibly could have left stronger but he worked to improve the fruits strengths. -The CP-9 member Rob Lucci was already strong, hella strong, but he incorporated his fruit into his skillset to make him much faster than he already was to improve his potential and give opponents a run for their money if they truly posed a threat, so he abused the fruits power by using it to enhance his skills he had already. -You also have people like Kaku, who only ate a fruit recently and wanted to test his ability in combat, while proving he could, gave Zoro a huge advantage since Kaku was wanting to experiment more than anything with it It just depends on the user and when they got the fruit originally, what it does and if it follows their combat style. Big Mom had hers at a young age, sure, but you can see how hard she worked to perfect it as much as she possibly could. Even without it she's proven a couple times she has some backbone strength to back up her title.
TBH I don’t get why people say “she’s only powerful because of her fruit” like it’s the same thing as saying “this x character is only powerful because of Haki” both are sources of power what’s so wrong about them using it?

My lawd, Big moms animations are always so whimsical, yet terrifying and powerful.
Big moms theme song is so good. The sound and music design for this show are stellar. Same with the voices too.

It's amazing how some of these characters have the most op powers and still don't use them to the full extent. Moria could take everyone's shadows and simply leave them in the sun. Big moms power is basically the extent of her imagination in a way.
that's not really amazing. that's basically every fantasy series ever. the stronger a character is, the less effective they use their powers
Actually, Moria CAN'T dispose of his victims after stealing their shadows. If they die, their shadows also disappear.
As for Big Mom, the homies she creates are limited by what their bodies are made of and which soul fragments she uses. Napoleon, Prometheus and Hera are way more powerful than other homies because they were created from fragments of Big Mom's own soul.

Big Mom is big time underrated imo. I mean everbody has scars except for her, as far as we know, and just imagine all the battles she had. Also her devil fruit is broken af and she knows how to use it to the fullest. If not for plot, id say she def top 5 in the OP world.
Just look at her fight with brook though he couldnt even pierce her skin and i doubt many could hard gain scars when her skin is stronger than the hardest of metals. She strong as Hell.

I have to disagree with the title of this video. I don't think Big Mom did that to save Nami, but more to attack Ulti. Saving Nami was a byproduct of that. If Ulti had killed Nami first, I doubt Big Mom would've cared outside of the effect it'd have had on Otama.
Big Mom does have a soft spot for kids, so she probably did it for Tama's sake as well as getting a good shot in on Ulti. Especially cause she only did this after it was shown Tama was on the verge of tears at Nami being about to die.

Think Big Mom is the most creative when it comes to using a devil fruit, the amount of ways she can attack and the amount of different power sets she has is nuts.

In terms of Devil fruit users... She's my favorite villain.
Simply because she's not truly a villain.
She's someone who had too much trauma, and not enough support in her early years.
The people she looked up to either had nefarious intentions, or turned their backs on her when she needed them most.
It's no wonder she's so spectacularly unstable, as even her attempts to create the life she wished she had as a child, reflects how her trauma has negatively affected her perception of how it should look.
In some ways, she actually does really good things.
Yeah, the soul tax is a bit disturbing, but those people directly benefit from that, so long as not too much is taken.
Most people in the Whole Cake Islands live far better lives than many outside of her territory.
Sure, having a mentally unstable ruler causes problems, but when there aren't any external influences, it appears as though the citizens know how to mitigate those issues to a surprisingly competent degree.
Just think about how that place would be if she was mentally stable though, and stable in the manner her child version is when it comes to helping others. She probably would be considered one of the most desirable of rulers in the whole of that world.
Strong enough to protect those who can't protect themselves... 🤔
Anyways, I do wish she could have an encounter that heals those past traumatic years enough to help her move beyond it in a positive direction. 🙄

Even knowing this was probably just so Tama doesn't get absolutely heartbroken (since Big Mom does care about Tama at least, since she has the soft spot for young kids), its still awesome to see Big Mom actually SAVE Nami here.
seeing big mom use her devilfruit in such interesting ways make me think she has easily the top devilfruit or really close to the top. She displays such immense power with only her own souls strength, imagine if big mom instead of having all those homies in her territory focused them into even more personal strong ones like Hera or Napoleon. If big mom was smarter she'd easily be the strongest alive atm.

Evil isnt born, its made. Big mom is already too old and stubborn, her having such a radical change of heart wouldnt fit her character. I feel that the only way characters like Kaido, Big Mom and Blackbeard can be resolved is via them dying.

This is why i think they had to do so much jank to finish her off Vs Kidd and Law, she beat them like 3 times and then just left them there to get back up.
Then goes on to be beaten by ring out, some nukes, lava, a long sword and a explosion. (Solving 2 problems for the Alliance)
Like she has healing, can augment her strength, combine her homies, without them she has adv Conquerors, and too physicaly durable for even Kidd (Not saying much but) to do ANY damage throughout the fight besides push her back and forth.
She's a Tank with OP DPS and spells on top of that, she didn't have a weaknesses, besides the ones ODA made up on the spot.
(Hunger pain, amnesia, weird Cases where she doesn't use CC Haki, sould pocus being useless against top tiers.)
Even if she wasn't mentally unstable there would still be a few characters that could defeat her. But in writing if you have an extremely op character you have to give them some type of flaw or they will be unlikable. The most fun one is usually to make them dumb/naive. Look at goku, luffy, big mom, naruto, saitama, etc, etc all extreme battle prodigies but having the flaw of being morons or apathetic.
He made her so strong he had to throw her into a hole she can't climb out of because its the only way a character as powerful as she is is staying down

Look at it in this way for those saying Big Mom has a Devil Fruit Crutch in this scene and thats only why she's strong:
Different fruits require different strategies to use, and some people rely on specifically their fruits power for these strategies depending on when they had gotten them in the first place and what they do
-Luffy was already undergoing training to become stronger, eating the fruit in most peoples eyes would have been a mistake with how his limbs just drooped or how hard his arm is to control if throwing a long punch to where most people would probably only use it for the effect of bullet and blunt attack immunity, however Luffy, despite taking 10 years, worked hard to make the fruit as useful as it was when he left the island, even more true today. Luffy basically proved even if he hadn't ate the fruit, he still woulda left the island strong, just without having to focus on learning the fruit so possibly could have left stronger but he worked to improve the fruits strengths.
-The CP-9 member Rob Lucci was already strong, hella strong, but he incorporated his fruit into his skillset to make him much faster than he already was to improve his potential and give opponents a run for their money if they truly posed a threat, so he abused the fruits power by using it to enhance his skills he had already.
-You also have people like Kaku, who only ate a fruit recently and wanted to test his ability in combat, while proving he could, gave Zoro a huge advantage since Kaku was wanting to experiment more than anything with it
It just depends on the user and when they got the fruit originally, what it does and if it follows their combat style. Big Mom had hers at a young age, sure, but you can see how hard she worked to perfect it as much as she possibly could. Even without it she's proven a couple times she has some backbone strength to back up her title.
TBH I don’t get why people say “she’s only powerful because of her fruit” like it’s the same thing as saying “this x character is only powerful because of Haki” both are sources of power what’s so wrong about them using it?
