I'm in the Navy. During boot camp, one of our RDC's (basically Navy Drill Sergants) got hurt, and was replaced with an RDC who is a Seabee. During our first run with him as our RDC, we did a cadence very similar to this. Definitely was a refresher from the same lazy boring cadences we usually did in boot camp. Makes me wonder how awesome being a Seabee is.
Hey i'm 15 and over weight i started my own training today to get tough enough for the army when i get out of high school any advice?its fall break so i thought it was the best time. help pls.
This is the best time to do it. It does not matter what you do, just do it consistently until you are at the age to enter. Be sure this exercise and eating plan are things you enjoy, though. If you do not like the workout, you will fail at the new lifestyle change.
I remember my first run.. that's it..your run will be different than others.. get ready to see people pass out or throw up, cry and some stop.. in my day there was no stopping 1976 DS's were let's say more HANDS ON.. so stopping was out.. If you're lucky you get a drill sarge that just came back from Vietnam and he's mad at the world .. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.. so thanks for your service..oh.. you're an FNG now.. Google it HOOAH

I'm a 17 year old who wants to join the military and I don't know anyone my age who knows this amazing song I hope I get the chance to sign this while marching thanks to all who served
17? I joined back in '82. Was 18 when I graduated though. 'Gonna stand up, hook up and shuffle to the door. Jump on out and shout Marine Corps. If that chute don't open wide, I've got another one by side. If that chute don't open round, I'll be the first Marine on the ground.' [Edit] I know nothing about jumping. That was a cadence I learned in Boot Camp. I was Infantry and Reconnaissance (not Force Recon, our jobs are completely different) my whole career. Jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft is something I wouldn't do, without orders.
As a son of a loadmaster in the Royal Netherlands Air Force is this awasome! My father is based on Eindhoven Airbase, Netherlands and in service for the 336 Squadron!
My drill sargeant sang it like this, C-130 rolling down the strip It’s taking off like a rocket ship Mission top secret destination unknown Don’t even know if we’re ever going home Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door Jump right out and I count to 4 If my main don’t open wide I got a reserve by my side If that one should fail me too Look out below I’m coming through
"Tell my momma i did my best bury me in the leaning rest" and there from there my DS would jump into the " Cause im A-I R-B O-R N-E" and there from there he would go " A is for anywhere, I is for in the sky, R is for rough and tough, B is for born to fight" and so on. im a terrible runner but with these candances my DS had me running for Miles
So many memories...but I loved Cadence made me feel like real American soldier....best of the best...never regret serving ever best and worse time in life....but we always make it together..
Every branch I’m sure has variations on this cadence. I jogged in formation in the Navy to this, too back in boot camp and my training station, NAS Pensacola, FL.
one of our 1SG's in the 82nd Airborne had this variation on this classic cadence: ". . . .And if that one should fail me too. Look out below I'm coming through. *I'm gonna hit, roll over, run off the DZ, CUZ AIN'T NO LEG GONNA BURY ME!!"* loved it and used it myself when I became an NCO, but I've never heard any other NCO use it. By the time I was about to ETS, cadence calling was slowly becoming a dying art =(.
I randomly thought about this while taking a shit today. Wasnt in the military but my buddies and I used to have our campers at 4H sing this all throughout the camp. No clue how we learned it
So I just happened upon another one of these videos, and this Cadence caller is so good. I am saving every video Did I hear him on to a folder I use when I go running.
What a feeling! 18 and full of energy. Nothing like running for miles to cadence before breakfast, now I’m a middle aged man who grunts while getting out of bed😩
Hey i'm 15 and over weight i started my own training today to get tough enough for the army when i get out of high school any advice?its fall break so i thought it was the best time.
i would practice for the apft at least 3 times a week. for me, its mon, wed, and friday. since the pft consists of a 2 mile run, sit ups and pushups, i would practice these events 3 days a week for someone just starting. message me your max (your best) on each of these events, and i may be able to help you get ready for the army
thank you for answering im little over 200 last time i checked and i can do 40 sit ups 1 push up and i don't know my time on a 2 mile run. i have just been running then i do 40 sit ups then i run again then some squats 20-30 and run again.I'm gonna do it again today i did it this morning. Thanks for the help.
C130 Rollin down the strip Recon daddy gonna take a little trip. Stand up, buckle up, shuffle to the door Jump right out and shout MARINE CORP! Jesus I remember that cadence. RECON!
Version a NCO sang on when he was about to get his golden ticket: C130 rollin' down the strip, b**** popped a tire and the MF-er flipped, get up stand up shuffle to the door, don't want to do this s*** no more!
nice my nice. my dad was 101 and 82 and mom RAF ahve jumped from a few heky birds awile back once was grascious plenty. I was af, but the stuff I learned in sand pits was good. taught me how to fall and get up
Here we go....Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door. Jump on out and shout 'MARINE CORP'. If that chute don't open wide, I've got another one by my side. If that chute don't open round, I'll be the first Marine on the ground.
I seem to recall it being, if my chute don't open wide, I got another one by my side. If that one doesn't open either, send my regards to old St Peter...

Hoorah seabee!
Being a seabee has its ups and downs like every other rate in the navy. Best part is no ship time unless your attached to an amphib unit.
SO many memories! The sound and experience of this cadence in my platoon motivated this non-runner like nothing else! I love this!

Hi 14
As a son of a loadmaster in the Royal Netherlands Air Force is this awasome! My father is based on Eindhoven Airbase, Netherlands and in service for the 336 Squadron!
I remember that 12 mile run we did at Campbell man that was killer
They lied to you, it was really only 2 and a half miles 😝😺🇺🇸
This is the best part of the morning especially with the airborne ranger rocksteady as well as one of my favorites
My drill sargeant sang it like this,
C-130 rolling down the strip
It’s taking off like a rocket ship
Mission top secret destination unknown
Don’t even know if we’re ever going home
Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door
Jump right out and I count to 4
If my main don’t open wide
I got a reserve by my side
If that one should fail me too
Look out below I’m coming through
"Tell my momma i did my best
bury me in the leaning rest"
and there from there my DS would jump into the " Cause im A-I R-B O-R N-E" and there from there he would go " A is for anywhere, I is for in the sky, R is for rough and tough, B is for born to fight" and so on. im a terrible runner but with these candances my DS had me running for Miles
Listening to this as 3 C-130s fly by me. Nice timing boys.
Love it! I does bring back some great memories. If I didn't enjoy PT my day would start off slow.
Ahh, yes, the memories. My ultimate favorite Cadence. "HOOAH"... Go Army
David Carlson i say HOOAH
Its the one I remember from Fort Leonard Wood.
Im a freshman in highschool and track conditioning just started and this is my inspiration to keep going
Cuz it's...
A, I,
R, B,
O, R,
N, E!
one of our 1SG's in the 82nd Airborne had this variation on this classic cadence:
". . . .And if that one should fail me too.
Look out below I'm coming through.
*I'm gonna hit, roll over, run off the DZ,
CUZ AIN'T NO LEG GONNA BURY ME!!"*
loved it and used it myself when I became an NCO, but I've never heard any other NCO use it. By the time I was about to ETS, cadence calling was slowly becoming a dying art =(.
I still remember this all time favorite cadence!
Back in the day, not many Korean soldiers(Katusa) could perform this cadence, and i was the one✈️
Its amazing that there is a song about a magnificent aircraft since 1957!
I randomly thought about this while taking a shit today. Wasnt in the military but my buddies and I used to have our campers at 4H sing this all throughout the camp. No clue how we learned it
"Airborne daddy gonna take a liitle trip,Stand up hook up,shuffle to the door!!! gotta fight all night!
"Dress it right and cover down,40 inches all around!one mile,no sweat, two miles, better yet!!
Gives me chills. Good Times.
While I was in hi school 1977 kid we're listening to rock n roll this what is Base brat we're listed too rapping
So I just happened upon another one of these videos, and this Cadence caller is so good. I am saving every video Did I hear him on to a folder I use when I go running.

Does anyone remember the running cadence that starts with “Soldier on Hilltop”….?
1979..Ft Benning.....
This reminds me of my grandfather....Papa.
He'll get 100% p&t while us old heads fight the VA longer than his enlistment. I bet he was just about to learn "C-130 roll'n down the strip" cadence.
Learned a lot of cadences in jjaep

This is different than the one I learned.
every cadence can be modified and differentiated
There is one like this, but hiphop and about marine corps
Same, I think each branch puts their own spin on it. I jogged in formation to something close to this in the Navy.
5,000 views but no comments? Damn...

I love calling cadence when we run....
Left, right, left, right, left, right, KILL!

YOU CANT RIDE ON MY LITTLE RED WAGON
Dad used to sing this.
HOOAAAGH!!!
NONE OF US ARE EVER GOING TO BE AN AIRBORNE RANGER STOP TRYING TO MAKE A CADENCE ABOUT IT- small arms specialist Zach
Was trying to find a comment like this
Dang this is a 11:15 min mile pace. Pickup the cadence. This is why people have bad running strides and chin splints.
