CLIP DESCRIPTION:
V (Hugo Weaving) shows Evey (Natalie Portman) the train that will be carrying the explosives to Parliament and gives her the power to carry on as she desires.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, V for Vendetta takes place in an alternate vision of Britain in which a corrupt and abusive totalitarian government has risen to complete power. During a threatening run in with the secret police, an unassuming young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) is rescued by a vigilante named V (Hugo Weaving) -- a caped figure both articulate and skilled in combat. V embodies the principles of rebellion from an authoritarian state, donning a mask of vilified would-be terrorist of British history Guy Fawkes and leading a revolution sparked by assassination and destruction. Evey becomes his unlikely ally, newly aware of the cruelty of her own society and her role in it.

V really trusted Evey. He trusted her enough to give her the train. He knew they had no future together, but at least he had a chance to demonstrate his love to her, for the first and last time. And not less important, another reason I loved this is because it shows how important Evey is. She is essential at the end of the movie.
De hecho, en el comic, ella es la nueva V
outis00 Sí, lo sé. Creo que en la película hacen una referencia a eso, ya que Evey le pregunta al detective si le gusta la música, exactamente como V le pregunto a ella al principio de la película!
@@paladinofcandlekeep A veces pasa pues XD
Yeh absolutely. I was worried that they will have V and Evey end up together, because honestly after all that V has done to Evey they really can’t have a healthy relationship. But I’m glad that V at least sees that they have no future together and admits he was wrong, so all he can do is give her the train as a sign of
Edit: Love
V was her father
A true hero who never abandoned his mission no matter how tough the life seems.
Or how tempting love can be! 😃🍻
We need a V now!
A revolutionary anyway and idealist.
That's sort of the sign of a psychopath. Which is what he was in the comic. Even Alan Moore never considered him a "hero" despite what he was doing.
He was no longer an ordinary person. He was tortured and experimented upon. His body was burned. He extraordinarily survived, he escaped and made it his mission to make things 'right'. First to provide 'justice', cause chaos and destruction. He even left an apprentice / follower [Eve]. He knew he could not have a normal life. His 'mission' chose him. He chose to accept it. A very difficult task indeed. Of course the obvious parable is that V represents science [the new world] and Chancellor Sutler [Adam James Susan] represents religion [the old world]. This choice belongs to us I wonder..
Why V is great - he admits when he is wrong, learns and grows.
but in the same instance, he fails again. while the count of monte cristo is a story about love overcoming revenge, in V's story, love fails to overcome revenge, and for that V pays with his life.
Meester Incubi, well, he knew was going to die that night. Why else would he give her all that is his?
Yes, he was going to die following his plan, but he didn't have to, she gave him the alternative choice but he failed in the end.
Meester Incubi What alternate choice ?
Love....to be Edmon Dantes and choose love instead of revenge at the end. Instead V chose revenge and died for it, just as he had originally intended.
Natalie: "Wait, so let me get this straight... You want me to make out with a mask?"
Director: "YES! AND IT WILL BE BEAUTIFUL!"
P FOR *********

It eliminated a trope, something we *knew* at some point would happen:

The director said V is an idea. An idea is bulletproof and also should be faceless. EV even says “He was all of us.”
To see “The Man from Cell 5” removes the greatness that V is a voice for us all. The mask is just a part of the idea.
Director: C'mon. You've done worse for less.

V: "I have no tree waiting for me"
That's so sad :(
TheGothprincess2 I feel in the end the first thing EV says when asked by Finch who is he was that he was Edmund Dantes it gives a little meaning that he had a tree.
I'm pretty sure he said 'train' which is why the next line was 'all I want, all I deserve is at the end of that tunnel.' Now, I don't claim to be a genius or anything, but it makes a lot more sense if he said train instead of tree. I don't remember the last time I saw a tree in a tunnel.

Why is it that men nowadays always feel the need to validated by women and liberated by love?
That which is broken can be mended by love, only. It is a dangerous thing to fathom.
@@anshuman1979 and what exactly is wrong with being validated by a woman and being liberated by love?

@Rohan Litton I see a pattern here XD

@Rohan Litton revenge for what? Anakin wanted to save his wife's life he didn't care about the means and in the end he let darkside corrupt him then he became a child murderer
@Rohan Litton for lying? For using him? What are you talking about they never lied and never used him he could leave the order like ashoka did in a second if he felt like he's being treated badly even though he deserved it because yoda himself and i quote "disobeying the council your expertise is" and he is still wondering why he is not a master he literally killed children because he hated the Jedi for absolutely nothing because they lied to him when necessary they don't do that in order to harm him yoda put himself in danger anf let dooku escape and even let palpatine shock him just to save anakin he was ready to die if it meant to save him but anakin only wanted to save his wife that's why he killed the Jedi but the children... He killed them just for a reward which was to kill the separatist leaders. it was palpatine who used and lied to him that dude was wrong because anakin cared about his family more than avenging palpatine he proved that by joining the person be hates the most after himself.
Just for a second there, he considered her proposal. Destiny robbed him of that life and her love.
V’s character is amazing!! And the movie dialogue is great too

I feel sorry for him at the fire.
This is the case in the original graphic novel as well. V even tells Evey that she must "find out who he is, but she must never see the face behind the mask".

Yes, and anyway, behind the mask, there's just the body of the superhuman that they build with what they made to V. However, a very important part of V is still there, the human part, and the human part is his mind, not his body anymore. And of course as you said he also represents and idea, and that part of him is what people know the best.
I love that V's conviction wouldn't cause him to waiver even with the idea of love and happiness....
Hugo Weaving did such a great job in this movie!!
HELL YEAH HE DID
This movie is a classic its brilliant not many modern films like this
I know Moore hates his stories being made into films but this one… this one was great.
was this a book? or comic book?
@@Milkman3572000 comic book
This movie has always been timeless to me. V stands for the voice of those who are too afraid to stand up in the face of oppression. The fact that his mask is only removed once, and his face is never shown (whatever is left), shows he is indeed an idea that is bulletproof and can be anyone
“The 2 most powerful warriors are time & patience”-Leo Tolstoy. V represents that just by showing it took a decade to set up his train for Parliament.
Evey: You could let it go, we can leave here together
V: LIAR! YOU'RE ALL WITH HIM! YOU BROUGHT HIM HERE TO KILL ME!
V: becomes chancellor.

Hugo Weaving's an amazing actor
@@zumptt He was the voice. He was not the body.
@@kaliyuga2758 It was originally James Purevoy doing the acting until he quit, then Hugo Weaving finished what he didn't and they just dubbed his voice over the previous scenes to make it all blend.
Shows why this movie is great...
Choosing revenge... or choosing love.
In most movies, the choice pretty clear cut, and when the protagonist chooses the "abnormal" choice, a lot of people will be dumbfounded and say that it's poor writing.
In this case, there's no clear choice. Being with Evey IS a good choice... but also fulfilling his "destiny" IS ALSO a good choice. So much so that you do wonder what would've happened if he did choose Evey.
Love is not always the best choice.
And in some cases, like in this movie, it's not the right one either.
He can just quickly change a better body armor, so he will not get the fatal hurt, and afterwards he can live with Evey together. How wonderful would that be!!🎉

Between all romantic stories this is my favourite it was so true deep and sad , between all kisses this was the most honest and strangely the hottest one
One of the best, well-acted, brilliant-performed characters in movie history is achieved whilst wearing a mask. WOW!

Surprisingly v for v is the only movie in which i cried more then once
Sad he had to walk away from love of a woman to end the tragedy that created his existence but I understand him....

He leans back in and really gives her a passionate kiss… with the mask
Oh my god I never noticed he kissed back! This changes the whole meaning of the kiss for me! Ty
its really sad that V had to die...i wanted him to live. V and Evey should have gotten together but then again...V knew that he couldnt give her the best future. He never had a normal life, his life was full of experiments and torture. he was reborn from fire. Vengeance drove him to do everything he did but in the process he fell in love with Evey. He knew he had to die...so he confessed his feelings before dying in her arms.
1)he choose to die he didnt had to he could stay with evey and he would be alive 2)his life before the fire were he burned before the imprisoment and tortures it maight be good a normal we dont know that we dont ever see a prequel of his life 3)even if v and evey end up together he could never show to her his face
Probably the revenge blinds him from seeing more opportunities for another kind of life 😢😢😢
Definitely understand why V was sobbing earlier
Deep down he knew he couldn’t live forever even after fulfilling his mission
Didn’t count on falling in love with Evey either
If none of what happened at Larkhill took place they could’ve met under better circumstances
But Evey gets to commence the final act of London’s revolution
A great movie , saw it in the theater when it was first released . The world was crazy then and relatable to that time . Just as easy to draw parallels to our world today . But V isn't coming to save you or your world . You have to .
He was you
He was me
He was all of us
I loved that he never took his mask off.

Wow Agent Smith is a good actor.
And Elrond
Possibly the greatest temptation of all: Evey Hammond, in this case in the guise of Natalie Portman, by all accounts V's perfect counterpart....offering him everything he doesn't have, actual true human love and affection, physical, mental, spiritual and anything else. I think, back when this came out and I saw Portman's lips fall off that mask, I fell in love.....I can't imagine the decision in V's own mind. Utterly insane....choosing Evey....and pretty much succeeding in his mission....or just....DEATH. After all that time. It's pretty much beyond human capacity to fathom the choice...or rather, making the choice V made. We all must ask ourselves....the only loose end is Creedy...surely he could die another day, right?
Yeah, but V said it himself. He can't. He can't leave it all behind, he can't forget about what was done, he can't fall in love, and he probably thinks he can't give Evey what she wants, probably can't give her a family. He has little to no employable skills. He can't get a 9-5 working for some company. He can't be anything other than what he is and he can't do anything but walk down to the end of that tunnel to meet his end.
Maybe Evey would have done it for him, but he wouldn't take it from her. There is no tree waiting for him.
@@oceandark3044😭😭😭😭😭
Probably he can quickly change a better body armor he was wearing and would not get the fatal hurt, afterwards he can live together with Evey. They can take all the books and antiques that V loves and move to a safer place, have a normal and peaceful life. How wonderful would that be !!

Very much an allusion to the Count of Monte Cristo...when Mercedes pleads for Dantes to abandon the vengeance (to spare her son) and he responds with the entire litany of the evils pursued against him and others by the enemy.
A fascinating contrast though...as in the novel, Dantes realizes that if he continues his path (vengeance) and scorns love...then he will soon be nothing more or less than his enemies.
What did V think of Valerie's letter? Could he love enough to abandon vengeance?
I really need to see this entire movie to get a better context on how the film story goes...
yeah, i think its also the great allusion to the intrinsic nature of man. the story of Samson, Achilles, Leonidas, and the list goes on. Alas in my contemplation of these matter itself, I realised only one man who walked this earth ever chose Love. The savior Himself JESUS.
