He wasn't the first cast. James Purefoy was originally cast and they shot for six weeks before he dropped out. Some of the scenes are still Purefoy with Weaving dubbed in over in adr.
@@RLplusabunchofdumbnumbers I didnt know that. James Purefoy doesnt have the intonation and pronunciation that Weaving has. And for a role of a masked man on a mission, who is emotionally scarred, and highly learned, I think the burden of playing the character falls on the actors vocal skills rather than his expressions. I am sure James would've prepared extensively for that, but we will never see that and Weaving's natural voice and pronunciations were just amazing for this role.

Low budget movie. But epic idea. Agent Smith was how i first saw Hugo Weaving. Had no idea he could make this 'villain' an indestructible symbol through his amazing voice and accent that would make the Queen a bum.
Guy died like a boss. Broke his own neck so he couldn’t be drawn live. It didn’t go down like this in reality- they hung you but didn’t break your neck, just choked you while they draw you, exposing your intestines. Guy knew this and jumped to break his neck, killing himself instantly (significant for a Catholic). They drew him while dead anyway.
To me V for Vendetta is about looking 1st at ourselves, , 2 honestly Seeing the world around us. To me the message is pure, the main one is acknowledging that GOD IS IN the Rain!!!
Yeah, pretty much. He was a lab rat for a government program to make a bio weapon or a supersoldier, whichever one worked first. They ended up with the bio weapon because he escaped and burned the camp down with all the research on the soldier program. In the process he lost the ability to feel pain, and also suffered heinous burns across his body which is why he wears the mask. Also a fuckin wild detail that nobody ever talks about when discussing the character, is that he does all of this whilst blind. His eyes were burned out in the fire.

@@tealsquare Who should they vote for lol? Both sides are steadily heading towards the same point, just at different paces. The DNC will never let an actually progressive candidate in, so all they do is stagnate every time they win, and the GOP are very much the same (even though you could count the number of somewhat progressive Republicans on one hand), with both being focused on maintaining the status quo. Trump is somewhat of a wildcard, both because he is wholly incompetent and also completely willing to take insane steps (like spending billions on a fucking wall that was never going to work while cutting thousands of government jobs to ensure he could keep tax cuts on the wealthy, which includes himself obviously), so he just ensures that inevitable end point comes sooner. I’d like for it to be adapted again but as a miniseries. This adaptation was too Americanised and might as well have set it in USA. The graphic novel was more about causing chaos to bring in order under a fascist dictatorship. This was about more freedom and more appealing to American audiences. I appreciate the attempt but it was poorly executed that missed the point

This movie is not a good adaptation. It changes a lot of things. Even the author of the comics doesn't like it.

We should all know and remember that Guy Fawkes was fighting for Catholic freedom in Britain. This movie is always cited as the Liberal Parties fighting against Conservative fascism but I tell you you it is fact the reverse. You need only compare the story to current politics.
Yes well there was a bit about the manufactured illness and how they rolled out a cure just before election but although Trumps administration authorized operation warp speed to create a covid vaccine it wasn't him elected as a result some probably didn't think he did enough meanwhile in Canada Trudeau mandated the vaccines which was against our informed consent laws and then he was horrible oppressive to those that protested him in Ottawa so people should look at actual facts and history not just say oh it's just like this or that Canada is more like Britain than America and Trudeau isn't Conservative like the Chancellor in the film.
