I'm actually writing a book where one of the major powers uses clone soldiers. As you said their role is primarily garrison/rapid response forces but due to the amount of time they spend training for urban and CQC engagements in general law enforcement almost always make use of their skills and capabilities in SWAT roles.
Law enforcement entities love this arrangement as they don't have to spend time and resources developing and maintaining their own SWAT units and the military loves it as it gives their troops some real world experience and no small measure of prestige

Mentioning the SS members in Vietnam brings me to think of another soldier. Lauri Törni was in the Finnish army in 1939 when the Soviets invaded. He fairly successfully defended Finland in the Winter War. Later during the Continuation War, when Finland joined the Nazis to fight the Soviets to reclaim their land, Lauri joined the SS to keep fighting when the war turned against the Axis. He later escaped to America, took the name Larry Thorne, and became the only member of the SS burried in Arlington after his helicopter was shot down in Vietnam.

The Grand Army of the Republic only numbered 3 million Kamino bred Fett Clones, they would have made a terrible occuptation force as at best you would have a squad per planet. What the Clones excelled at is being Stormtroopers, and when I say stormtroopers I'm not referring to Imperial Stormtrooper, but the Sturmtruppen of the First and Second World wars. Elite forces that are more aggressive, better trained, and more armed than your standard infantryman, whose mission to be the tip of the spear during an assault. The Kamino bred Fett clones fit that to a t. They are elite troops that are armed and armored with best weapons and armor in the galaxy. Only their own special operations forces such as the Republic Commandos and Arc Troopers were better trained, armed, and armored.

@@GenerationTech The reason why the Germans had a fear of the Canadians by the Second World War, among other Allied forces, was because of their reputation (well-earned) from the First World War. Although not having an immediate introduction to the Western Front like the French and British, the Canadian Corps became one of the most effective, creative and inventive fighting forces on the Western Front during the First World War. Well-trained and overseen by British observers, and Canadian officers alike, the Canadians were never really considered shambolic from what I recall of the history of this. Canada was basically always loyal. The only thing that may have irked some stuffier characters in the elitist British High Command, may have been the reluctance of the Canadian leadership to commit troops to the Western Front (stalling as long as possible, from the Canadian PM down) This was not to say that the Canadians were considered slovenly.
Never heard of that. Perhaps earlier on a degree of scepticism on their seriousness may have existed in some corners of the imperial bureaucracy but I really don't think that amounted to much. When the Canadians were fully deployed as a very decent contibution of about 90,000 to 100,000 men in around 3 corps sized units, they had a positive impact on the Western Front. Benefiting from being held back (in greater force; some Canadians did fight much earlier, as far back as 1915 ish) for so long until 1917 onward for the majority, in terms of being able to learn from the lessons of primarily the British and French, as well as simply have more time to train and receive increasingly better equipment e.g. replacing out their rifles more than once, the Canadians were also a much fresher and generally better led fighting force for their numbers. They were, like the Australian Corps, considered some of the British Empire's finest troops by the end of the war. This is no exaggeration whatsoever - tactically and strategically, the Canadian Corps were feared.
The British Army had several highly respected regiments and more elite units, in it's own right; though years of brutal trench warfare across not only the Western Front but others, had bled the British badly, and while millions of British troops still fought on and although I believe the Entente victory was almost assured even without the USA, there was a need for fresh, well-trained troops to replace losses, especially after Russia dropped out of the war allowing Germany to transport over a million Eastern Front veterans to the Western Front pretty much straight away, with many more to follow. Britain and France held the line, but the arrival of Canadian and US forces to the region, was welcomed (at least, by high command - whereas British soldiers were pretty scathing of US troops who they openly mocked as ''dough boys'' aka soft and weak, in need of kneading and remoulding into proper soldiers; think old Clone troopers calling rookies shinies, that sort of thing)
The Canadians had the benefit of Arthur Currie, to my mind one of the top 3 generals in WWI. He was the driving force behind a lot of innovations and reforms in the Canadian Corps, as he learnt lessons from the experiences of other forces (primarily the British) and due to less centralised British control over their affairs, the Canadians were better able to break free of pretty restrictive, hierarchical hindrances holding back the British and French. In spite of by far being the most experienced Entente troops on the scene, the British and French were hamstrung so often by the chain of command and not necessarily (as popular culture tends to poke fun at e.g. Blackadder Goes Forth BBC Comedy series, which revels in those stereotypes belittling the leadership constantly, when really, on a micro and macro level, the British were evolving rapidly and not just pissing lives needlessly up the wall as is sometimes claimed; though of course that _did_ also happen in a sad number of cases, and even more so for the French and Russians)
More independent to come up with their own methods and taking the best cues and inspiration from the British and French experiences (lessons bought at appalling cost in lives, treasure and materiel for both), the Canadians rapidly accelerated their training and utilised new assault tactics. Among other things, the Canadians pioneered the Creeping Barrage and Rolling Thunder combined arms assault with coordination with artillery and infantry assault units. Of course the British had long been doing similar things, as were the French, but the precise manner in which they did this now, was far more refined and perfected. The Canadian Corps was notable in being highly proficient in dislodging the Germans from fortified positions, as well as being equally dangerous on the defence, with excellent rifle training. Many Canadian men signed up for their service, were from rural areas and were not adverse to firearms.
The Canadians were a fine addition to the British Empire's overall capabilities, and were like a very useful dagger beside the longswords of France and Britain, pointed squarely at the Germans. Vimy Ridge exemplifies the tenacity of the Canadians. However, I believe the most telling sign of how displeasing it was for the Germans to engage them, was during Operation Michael (the last German Offensive in WWI) This was mostly aimed at driving a wedge between the British and French forces, aiming to drive the British Expeditionary Force back into the sea. To this end, they hit the British forces incredibly hard with one of the most horrific artillery bombardments in WWI, and followed it with one of their most savage and frankly desperate assault using Sturmtruppen and massive infantry reserves.
Entire British regiments simply ceased to exist - what was left of the poor souls in the immediate frontline, after the barrage, were annihilated by the overwhelming assault. British forces were told to die where they stood by their commanders and so many did. The British 2nd Army to the South of all British forces on the Western Front, was sent reeling with one or two regiments in particular fighting to the last man, rendered functionally destroyed. The Germans paid dearly for this as they suffered heavy losses of their own meeting increasingly aggressive and determined, dogged British resistance. The French were also drawn into the sector and helped sure up the line. The German Juggernaut, ran out of steam in this offensive. They maxed out. It had hurt the British, but the cost had been ruinous for themselves as well, and ultimately the gains weren't worth the sacrifice. The salient was too small; crushed within a few weeks back to it's starting positions as if nothing happened. During this offensive, the Germans _deliberately avoided_ the Canadian Corps, specifically marking them on the map. The Canadians held their own salient like a thorn in the German's side and would not be dislodged. Perhaps thinking to defeat them later, the Germans put most of their effort into beating the British, but failed anyway. The Canadians were among the Entente forces slamming the Germans hard in the last hundred days of the war, which rounded out the grim conflict.

The difference between Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers is like the difference between the US Army and US Marine Corps when the two operate in the same theatre. The Marines traditionally don’t occupy territory. They move into the objective area, kill everything that resists, and move on to the next target (what the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps was designed to do). The Army typically follows in, mops up any remaining resistance and occupies. That’s why the US Army has a Corps of Engineers and various other logistics and support groups within its ranks, where as the USMC really doesn’t.

Not necessarily, the only child of clones that has been written or talked about(as far as I know) was Kad Skirata, the son of Darman, a clone commando, and Etain Tur-Mukan, a Jedi, both from the unfinished Republic Commando novel series. He (spoilers ahead do not scroll down if you didn’t read the book)
had his genome analyzed by a runaway kaminoan geneticist ( before Kad’s paternal grandfather killed her) and it was discovered that the gene for accelerated growth was recessive, meaning, among other things, it wouldn’t always be passed on, and in cases where it did get passed on, it wouldn’t take effect or would have reduced effect, although again, Kad is the only child of a clone that we know of so we don’t really have that much data to go on

I have a challenge for you and the guys to consider Allen. British Ben puts his 5 Star Trek Ships against your 5 Star Wars ships. American Ben can judge the competition. Whoever wins 3 of the matchups is declared Supreme Techie. 5 ships would be a fighter (we can count USS Defiant as a fighter), corvette, frigate, dreadnaught and super dreadnaught (guess he’s using a Borg Cube 😂). You guys can give your data and arguments why yours would win and American Ben would then declare a winner. Just an idea, love watching every video, from both Tech and Films.

I got a question, Fractured Space vs some Star Wars Vessels. As well is their Jump Drives better than Hyper Drives. It seems quicker and able to get towards the location looking at the wrong way. Though as well weaponry and drives against some Star Wars vessels.
Fractured Space well used to and still is (With Community version since OG is gone, but with Community you keep everything) and it's a fun PVP spaceship fightings, along with industrial looking vessels and unique in all their ways.
My favorite vessels from the game are Paragon, Reaper, Leviathan, Pioneer, and Gladiator. Well there are many amazing vessels that have their own roles making selecting your vessel pre-game important for a counter on the enemies, if enemy select a cloak ship such as Ghost or Black Widow from the United Space Research (USR), the Pioneer from USR or Punisher from Zarek Industrials (Along with others anti-stealth ships capabilities) is your choice. Though the game if you want to win, have to play with the team, I tried soloing, and ended me up dying many times.

Uh, no. No they were not. You guys are ass-kissing the clones WAAAAAY too much. Just as you people bash the Jedi unjustly, so too do you over-praise the clones for something they're not the best at. The clones don't have the numbers to occupy enemy worlds the same way the CIS battle droids or Imperial Stormtroopers did. The clones are perfect for storming enemy positions and taking out enemy fortifications, but they're not numerous enough that they can compete with droids and Stormtroopers for garrison duty. Each clone is made in Kamino after a decade of flash-training, whereas droids can be made in a day and Stormtroopers can be recruited from the populace. While the latter two are inferior to clones in terms of infantry quality, in terms of numbers needed to garrison worlds, droids and Stormtroopers outclass clones in that regard.
Garrisons usually just have to deal with scattered enemy resistance forces or local unrest from the populace, not enemy forces in large numbers. Putting clones on garrison wastes their potential, not to mention the fact that the clones aren't as numerous as the Stormtroopers or battle droids, meaning that they can't cover as much ground as the other two forces could, which garrison forces have to do. At most, the Clones are in the high millions or perhaps even in the billions if we're being generous, but the Stormtroopers were in the tens of trillions and the CIS battle droids were in the QUINTILLIONS. So no, the clones are not the best option for garrisoning a planet. Assaulting planets, maybe, but not sitting on their asses and garrisoning worlds, where their potential is wasted and they are stretched thin.

    • @eyesofstatic9641
      @eyesofstatic9641 4 года назад +2

I agree with their assault role as well. I think as they are an offensive tool kind of like storm troopers vs the imperial army. Plus, a traditional army(like the imperial army) or pdf supplemented with/by the clone army. Clones take the planet/whatever and pdf holds.
Also, more guerilla forces. Imagining the arc where they taught the planets force to take down droidekas by rolling the nade but to a much higher degree of implementation.

Clones were the perfect soldiers. They did not (due to their indoctrination) abandon their duties.
Once Order 66 enacted, that doomed the clones (as the perfect soldiers). this order removed all original thinking and tactical ability (pre Order 66). Palpatine did not realize the damage he was doing to the Clones. He only saw the fact that he was "god sith" and his will was the only creative will needed in the empire.
It is a shame to see such brilliant soldiers relegated to unthinking (compared to pre 66) machines and then abandoned.

Worlds need to be lived in.
The blame for most of this sits on Sith Lord Yoda.
Don't believe me ? Let's start with, he knew about Order 66, before it happened, through multiple sources. He realized the Jedi Order needed to end, but not him, because he was more important than the Jedi Order or anyone else in the Galaxy. Even though, he fostered the Jedi's corruption for 800 years, at least. Something he could have changed the course of, as Grand Master. And are we to believe he had no idea there was a Sith in the halls of power? That he didn't notice with 800 years of political plots, something was off? Why wasn't there an investigation of the Clone army or the disappearance of a predominant Jedi Master? He removed Ashoka from Anakin's life, and denied him the Master title, which fostered bitterness. Allowed Kenobi and Padme to confront Anakin, like no one could see how that would turn out. Drove Dooku from the order, by denying him answers to valid questions. How many of his students turned or died at the hands of a Sith? He also, told Luke, that Luke was Vadar's son, almost assuring a confrontation and Luke's death, if not for a really big and delayed change of heart. Additionally, after trying to wrest power from Palpatine after the Jedi were killed in Order 66, did he try to protect survivors or train new Jedi? No, he hid. And even when a Jedi learner literally came to him, he tried to send him away, or as noted get him killed. Did he have a change of heart at the end of his unnaturally long life, which is more a Sith thing? Who knows. As an odd coincidence, Yoda showing up was just just shortly after Darth Bane disappearing.
No, the blame for the Empire and the chaos that followed for centuries was all on Sith Lord Yoda, and maybe Jar Jar.

Then I’d genetically modify my regular storm trooper recruits to age slower so they can be combat effective longer.
