Imma gonna hazard a guess that not every single person was recorded for the mix in the video, and probably not every one was in the FOH mix either
@@Dave_Crewe Oh yeah, there's no chance they recorded everyone. Making just the top and bottom mic of a single snare drum sound good in the mix requires some work, so I would hope for the love of god they trimmed the number tracks.
@@Dave_Crewe yeah definitely doesn't sound like 1000 musicians. Especially evident with the choirs. More obvious with male choir.

It's a testament to the quality of a band made up of 3 men matching the energy of 1000 people performing this song.
I’ve had the privilege of seeing Muse playing this live a few times now and you’re absolutely right.
Not like they're adding much to it.. they're playing the same thing so if you have a song that's composed to sound full, having 1k musicians play it will just sound louder
They are actually four live but kind of true…
The whole problem is the mixing of this. I have been a part of one of the Rockin1000 events and this sound recording sounds nothing like the feeling you get when you hear this live. Imagine you are the mixing engineer of this and you have literally hundreds of inputs to mix. Mixing this to stereo is pathetic no matter who does it.
It's like compressing a rainbow into 2 colours and expecting people to get it.

It's always exceedingly aesthetic hearing and watching drummers play in unison.
Drum battles are also very awesome to me. Sully Erna from Godsmack battles his drummer and there's an old video of Travis Barker and ?uestlove having a battle and they're just so cool to watch.
I’m almost certainly being biased being a huge MUSE fan but this is probably the best performance by Rockin 1000 ever, with the possible exception of Won’t Get Fooled Again by the Who. You guys simply blow my mind with every performance, there are so many that I keep coming back to and never tire of watching. Hoping to catch you live one day 🤞👌

If you slow it down you can hear different people improvising
Conductor
the conductor is important, but more so in the days preceding the show to bring together 1000 musicians. In reality the synchronization is obtained thanks to a clicktrack that everyone has in their earphones
@@enricofarina8427I'm a noob in instruments, are they harmonizing each other or are they completely in unison ? 🤔
@@sipenarekbecha7193we follow a clicktrack in earphones. No harmonizing each others. From one side of the fiele to the other there are 100 meters. Sound runs 340 metres per second. So there is a huge delay. Musicians cannot harmonize each other because of the delay

Muse was a large part of my childhood and early adolescence, and in fact was the band my dad used to introduce me to rock. Knights of Cydonia especially has a special role in my heart. Absolutely jealous of the people who could attend it and thankful for the 1000+ members of the band and organisers.
I saw your other videos and was like "Will they ever play a Muse song someday? Muse might not be a super popular band but their music is awesome". Now I'm in tears watching this at 3am LOL! This song was made for a stadium show. Its energy is electrifying. Thank you guys. What a great job.
This is when you know that, as a band, you have REALLY made, when the Rockin 1000 play one or more of your songs....... outstanding! Also you MUST come to the UK and play Wembley Stadium, that would be truly EPIC!

I can't even imagine the insane amount of coordination to set this all up. Getting 1000 people in the same place and on the same page. The thousands of wires that had to be run everywhere. The light systems. The cinematographers.The sound mixers. Oh, and the electrical work just to handle that load.

That it was fabulous. My only criticism would be the lack of a falsetto as per the original, other than that perfect.

Every time I see videos like these, I can't help but imagine how many feet of cable they needed to run so that all of the mics, instruments, and headphones were operational, which is not to mention the lighting, video, and recording equipment.
It's a huge effort, but it's worth it!

This gives me the same feeling of awe as another video. Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven performed by Heart and an entire ensemble. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page watched live, and cried. I hope Muse sees this video!
