My daughter first heard this song when she was 10 and told me she wanted it played at her funeral. She died in 2020 from cancer and we honored her wished. This song is for the ages. The power of music lives on.
Truly a bitter symphony. Rest in Peace to your daughter. I hope you and yours are doing well.

I've just read your words, and I came in tears. May your Daughter rest in peace. Music is the power.
Music is enough for a lifetime but a lifetime is not enough for music
One of the best comments I ever found in youtube.
I truly have this feeling, thanks for putting it in words.
Bravo! You win the internet for all music lovers with this very comment
Music is Older than We are 🤗
Music but not the bs we hear now
The expressions on each individual face as they’re immersed in their own world, but perfectly in sync with everyone else is honestly astonishing…
It is the people who have such a passion for this that makes it so wonderful. Thank you for this, it is meaningful to me.
💯
Agreed
Eu também sentir e é simplesmente fantástica essa sensação. Amo essa música. Me trás boas recordações do meu pai. 😓😞😟
Truly. 👍🙏
That drummer chick at 1:31 is the personification of pure joy and happiness. Absolutely beautiful.
Am I the only one who felt goosebumps when the drums kicked in?
Nope.
oh god yeah
Me too. Love this.
No. No you are not!

If a thousand people play a song, it hits harder, it feels stronger, and sounds beautiful. Nice job all of you! Almost in tears writing this
What a lovely comment... good on you.
Watching this gave me goosebumps everywhere. But playing it in Frankfurt with 1000 People hits even harder... The atmosphere that comes up when this song starts is unbelievable

It's like you can feel the emotions of every person in this stadium

This song makes me so happy . ❤
Thank god for the English for giving us so much wonderful music, The Verve, Queen, The Who, Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Kinks, Ed Sheeran, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Oasis , The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Clash,Elton John, The Sex Pistols the list is endless oh and the English language.
Thank god for Italy that invented music, opera, notes, stave, treble clef, musical instruments and singing with music
@@Danielreds Italy didn’t invent music you melon 😂
So good your analysis.....
But England PERFECT IT !!@@Danielreds
Without Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Mississippi Delta Blues none of those English groups would exist.
Richard Ashcroft fulfilled his life purpose. He created a timeless song
Actually, it was The Rolling Stones who created a timeless song. All Richard Ashcroft did was sample it and add his new lyrics on top of it. Eventhough, both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have now given all royalties to the song back to Richard Ashcroft as of this videos upload date of May 2019, they still deserve to recognized for writing the music to it.
Yes Richard actually sampled the Royal Philharmonic album which had their orchestral version of the Rolling Stones hit
I’ve been listening to this song for 20 years now. An Eternal life anthem ❤️
Yes he certainly did
@@robbiestewart89 have you heard the Stones version? They are 2 completely different songs. No fucking way this is a Stone's song
It still gives me goosebumps. Those lights in the gallery, the sound of the violins, the power of the drums hitting all at once. I'm so glad I was able to be part of this thing. PARIS HERE WE COME!
How amazing it must have felt.
@@julieg46 it was amazing! Especially because it was unexpected, we didn't know what we were doing, it was the first time for all of us!
I was since the violin played
The Verve made one violin sound like an entire orchestra.
This music he Don,t made, Rolling Stones made.
The best part of this video is seeing on their faces how much every single one of these musicians loves this song.
The drummer at 1:31 is the perfect encapsulation of the joy all of these musicians are feeling.
1:31 THAT'S HAPPINESS
Faith in humanity recovered successfully! 🙂
Well not every wher is this posible.
Yes: Europ with Russia, Canada, U.S, South America states almost all: Cuba, Venesuela... eeemmm NO or maybe.
DEFINETLY NO: Saudi Arabia, Katar, Emirats, Iran, Iraq, Afganistan.

Turkey is not one of them. Ther this kind of event can definetly happen.
@@Archer28M But It' s a good thing that we are able to do such things here! I played with Rockin 1000 in Frankfurt last week and I can definetely say that it's an unforgettable experience and the best way to bring people together... We just have to bring that to other countries.

1:32 I love that face from the drummer like "gahhhdamn this sounds GOOD!!"
She's just adorable. Unbridled joy.
Yeah, Richard Ashcroft was kickin on all 12 cylinders when he came up with this tune. Pure Awesomeness
To be fair,,,The Andrew Oldham orchestra deserve a lot of credit too. Still an awesome tune.
Your absolutely correct. Thank you for bringing up true history of this song 👍
I can't possibly imagine the state of ecstacy the people felt who were involved in this incredible moment of shared joy
Same - I am jealous.
Shots in 1:04, 1:10, 1:31, 2:20, and 5:38 are so telling about what they are taking place and emotions raised between musicians and the audience: a masterpiece event in its semplicity
Definitely no drugs needed here. Just to play in something like this once, would give me a high that would last all year.

This is the best thing I can ask for on a Monday morning at office 😍
Working a job that you despise.
Working for a boss that you despise.
A slave to money then we die.
steven lamont He should ask for another job, rather than music:) probably he enjoys his job. But seriously what is bad about the office is that they rob your lifetime and energy. You give them your best years, in return you get pennies. Just think about it, how much have you payed.
It's official. may 23rd 2019 was the day that the Rolling Stones gave the credits back to Richard Ashcroft from The Verve.
Oh shit really????
No fucking way dude that is awesome!
Now I am happy.
YEEESS
Only after earning a billion bucks on it. I wish the new generation finds the song and make it viral and provide some of the due earning to aschcroft.
This one IS clearly the best song version of Rockin1000
One
One word. Epic. Two more words. Thank you.
I absolutely love how some of the musicians have their eyes closed and are completely in their own world. This is one of the songs that really takes you away that way.
Brent Crude total agree
I'd be honored if some fans of mid/late 90s classics would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY by the Verve, SHE'S A BRICK by Ben Folds Five, and MEET VIRGINIA by Train on my YT channel in tribute to 3 great standards of the mid/late 90s era. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital enhancements. Thanks and peace out.
It’s kind of weird to choose such a heartbreaking song about loneliness and struggle and have it played by so many people in a stadium. It becomes monumental and transformative. What an amazing, life affirming spectacle!
I'm not a musician or a vocalist, so I live my dream through amazing talented people like these. Thanks all.
Absolutely jaw dropping. Instruments and singers are absolutely brilliant. What a beautiful song Richard Ashcroft has left behind. Made my day!!
And I'm crying! There's something so beautiful about all these people coming together, united by their love for music! Awesome. Just awesome.
I’m not crying you are... *sniff*
Totally agree.

No matter how many times i listen to these guys and no matter the song i get goosebumps, without fail. This is human beings at our best. So many different people so different in every which way is possible coming together as one. When people say don't let hate win, you can see with things like this it ain't winning, it will never win, it never won. This is love right here, this is passion, fatih, hope, this is life.
Next time someone says they hate humans, or we all suck, or were horrible creatures who just destroy things, show them this.

Lyrics:
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life
Tryna make ends meet, you're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah
No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
(Have you ever been down?)
Well, I've never prayed but tonight I'm on my knees, yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singin' to me now
No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
(Have you ever been down?)
I can't change, oh, no
I can't change, oh
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life
Tryna make ends meet, tryna find somebody then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah
You know I can change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no,
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Have you ever been down?
Have you ever been down?
Have you ever been down?
This is not music it's what we called an Anthem.. Never gets old..
I've always said that the strings manifest a sense that God exists...it's phenomenal.
This was the first song that I played for my son just after giving birth to him. He is 16 months old now and it's the only song he listens to with a gleaming smile on his face!
This reduced me to tears.
Look at all the stunned faces in the video. Their reactions of amazement and disbelief and unity are priceless.
This is why I love watching opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. I love watching people coming together, doing something good, despite all our many differences.
Not to slight the singers and others, but when the drum corp kicks in it just gives me chills every time I listen!
Humanity is very beautiful!
Peace forever ...no more wars ❤
A fair tribute to Richard Ashcroft and The Verve, even more with the return and recognition as the original the original author of this iconic song. Justice takes time but arrives!
But the fact still remains that The Rolling Stones wrote the music to it back in 1967 as such, they are the original authors of the music. All Richard Ashcroft did was write new lyrics over top of their original and it became a hit. Eventhough, both Keith Richards and Mick Jagger have chosen to make things right in this instance by giving back all the royalties earned from it, Mr. Ashcroft should still give them what was originally agreed upon in exchange for the use of the sample. The credit should read as "Includes sample taken from "The Last Time" by The Rolling Stones, written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards. Courtesy of Abkco Records. Used by premission." This is what the record labels usually do in the liner notes, when their artist uses a sample in a song. Instead of what happened and what Allen Klein did by suing. It was Allen Klein who handled this all wrong.
And it was Ashcroft alone who got the royalties back, not The Verve, the rest of the band survives as other bands who almost made it with a couple of songs, the rest of the albums are still very indie so only old fans or real rock, britpop or shoegaze fans know, in the "worst" scenario the rest of the band are just common people like you and me.
Thanks to the verve for this masterpiece
@@robbiestewart89Actually Mick Jagger acknowlegded that he did NOT write the original. He "borrowed" it from the old American gospel son "This may be the last time". There is a recording by The Staple Singers from about 1952 on RUclips

That Beautiful, Wildly Adorable female is the most complimented and magnetically Attractive soul in this video, so many guys mention her as she stood out and caught so many like fly paper for lack of a more poetic term and the saddest part is None of us know her name. It will really be such a frustrating shame if we never do find out. Does she even know or aware of the magical impression she's made on So many including myself?
I hope eventually she will and knows how much more special she made this performance and always will as long as it exists. Just Love her 🥰 😘

It's such a trip how this particular song pulls you into what feels like an infinitely extending connection with all humanity beyond time and space, and how it meshes so naturally with this enormous performance with so many musicians all in synch, making the music's expansive sense of connection all the more pronounced and emotionally moving, and yet these musicians could not all be playing the same thing at the same time if it weren't for technology getting the mix to everyone at the speed of light over their headphones, signaling the beat visually with red lamps, and all those signals coming together again to join the mix and then the return sends again, all at the speed of light, no slowly moving sound waves slogging through atmosphere to gum up the works. It's just amazing, and it makes me think of these quantum theories of our reality being just a projection. Because I could swear I am there on that field banging a drum kit or pulling some horse hair or scraping a piece of plastic across some tuned wires, singing full voice, elevated, feeling a bit of the evening chill on my face, as this signal is projected to me off my computer screen in my bedroom. Symphony of Life, indeed. (Yes I grew up in the 70's hanging out with acid heads).
This is inspiring. What a magnificent interpretation of a classic.
