I used the 517 tip for everything un-thinned. Primer, wall paint, trim, doors. Not absolutely perfect but it put down a shit ton of paint with a good enough finish for my basement. 9 gallons of primer in 3.25 hours.
517 is to big for latex trim & doors... Doors and trim 313/315 depends on what paint like Flat or Satin or Enamel... Walls 415/417/515/517... In Latex paint also is good if you mix 5% to 10% of water on 5 gallons of latex paint (better spraying), For Enamel 5% to 12% of Mineral Spirit ... 517/519/521 is good for heavy primer, paint exterior walls on big job/project
Great demo, thanks. My first attempt with the 250m with 517 tip on walls and ceiling yesterday. The results were surprisingly good for my first go but couldn't believe how much overspray there was on the floor; must have been doing something wrong so I'm getting in as much RUclips research as I can.
I use these tips everyday 517 for ceilings and walls they are great even on fresh plaster no lap lines at all I find 1-5 litres of water in 10 litres is about right for these tips on emulsion
@@johnthemod71 ahhh i see yeah about 1-1.5L is perfect when im using dulux proffessional paint low sheen or ceiling flat .517 is standard size for walls and ceilings, have you considered using a 617/619?
The amount you thin out your paint affects flow. Anytime you spray its recommended you thin out the paint to aid in atomisation through the tip. Using the right tip size is very important. So if you have an area you want to cover thick and fast (ceilings, walls etc) then you use something with an 0.17 and larger orifice, if you want to have a more controlled pace and flow then use a 0.15 orifice, if youre spraying woodwork you'll want a 0.13 orifice or 0.12 for fine finishing, if its enamel paints, then a 0.11 or 0.10 for fine finishes, I know it seems like a lot to take in , however it's important to understand this. Also worn or old tips cause nothing but trouble for finish quality and wasted paint.
I appreciate your videos. Ive just purchased the Wagner 350 Pro Extra & sprayed my very first project... kitchen ceiling. I used the 515 tip with Haymes Expressions ceiling paint and then back rolled. Just waiting for it to dry. I think Im happy with it but I notice where i patched up an old exhaust fan hole, the spray looks dull over that area. Am I suppose to paint something in particular over my joint compound repair patch first? If so, what should i have used?
Hi and good on you for spraying. Sometimes a sealer undercoat is specified over bare surfaces or patch repairs. However what you're seeing will not show upon your second coat. Also back rolling only needs doing after the second coat. I wish you well
Hi again. I just did most of the 2nd coat of the ceiling (yep...patched area blends in). I didn't quite finish as I ran out of paint. Now i would have finished if I could've utilised all that paint within the suction tube etc. Is it possible to put the paint suction hose in a bucket of water to push the paint within the system through so I can finish off the small section I was unable to do?? I don't plan to paint any more ceilings at this time.
Yes its a Titan/ Wagner set up, so you can connect it to your machine or directly to your gun with only a spanner or shifter. part number is 730-397, the gauge on its own is 730-394
Now that you have tested/used both, the Graco FFLP and the Titan/Wagner LP, what do you prefer? What will you use on trim and what will you use on ceilings/walls? Thank you.
And you even prefer the HEA for fine finish trim? That's amazing. Is it because lower pressure or the finish is better with HEA or both? Keep up the great reviews.
Владимир Кулик So far my customers have had good results with the following. 213 or 313 for water based trims and doors, undercoat and gloss. 515/517/615/617/619 for walls and ceilings, that's for undercoat and top coat. It just depends on each individuals preference. But if you needed just 2 tips get the 313 and the 517, those 2 are very good in general
@@westsprayairless8763 this probably most valuable comment. Been searching for ages for somebody giving his recommendations for HEA Wagner tips. Thanks man!!
West Spray Airless thanks, i will try these out on the next job for walls and ceiling, I tried fflp 518 undercoat on some walls I didn't like it, however the smaller tips on wood work love them
Yeah tried the hea 517 on walls on a new job, I end up with a similar result as 518 fflp tip, I didn’t really like the size of the droplets , seems like you must apply a lot of paint to prevent pinhole type of thing , they also seem a bit slower and a bit noisy, but however if you need less overspray this is great, like in wardrobes lower pressure and the softer edged spray pattern for internal corners it’s a treat, I was using dulux professional acrylic undercoat also dulux professional Matt acrylic walls
Thank you for your input, i really like hearing tradesmens input, especially as you are the guys who spend hours using these tips and i only do short tests, keep up the feedback when you can its greatly appreciated and i also pass it on to my customers. Thanks
Hahaha, I know this is 3yrs old but' I just got 3 Trade 2 tips for $9 u.s , they don't fit the Rac X, but I needed a 10" extension that came with a heavy triggered paint gun that takes the Trade 2 tips for $20, I'm putting it to use tomorrow, I'll try to send feedback. Peace
Is that guage on the gun handle just a guage or a pressure control as well. As there’s some cheap sprayers work well but they lack a pressure control and I’ve yet to find a way to put it on the line itself which should be possible.
Hi Ali. Bought the HEA 311 tip for spraying enamel on door frames and tried all different pressures and had tails. The enamel I used was Berger oil based gloss. Any ideas? Thanks
If you go up in size you'll have more material flow, so you'll need to get used to that, however not a bad idea. Also for fine finishes like enamel your better off using fine finish tips as they atomise the paint finer than a HEA tip.
Hi again Ali and thanks for responding. I was using the 512 fine finish tip for doors and frames but find it a little wide for frames so I bought a 410 fine finish tip. We’ll see how I go. Might go a 310 next if the 410 is still too wide
Does anyone know why the wagner range including Paint sprayer Control pro 350 m & Paint sprayer Control pro 250 m do not have a pressure gauge in the UK ????????
There are 2 versions which are distinguished by their color. the M series is a very basic version sold as a cheaper option with less accessories, the Extra series has gauge, extension pole and 3 tips and gun filters as well as a longer spray hose. One is marketed for DIY Handyman, the other as a professional unit for light work or as a backup.
Unfortunately your comparing a fine finish to a standard finish, like apples and oranges. The tritech are the older style and in no way compare to Graco or Wagner's Fine Finish tips.

Overspray is something you won't be able to avoid. Masking up and covering surfaces is key.
Thanks for sharing mate please keep the videos up it's really helpful for new sprayers!
Hi Mate , using a 410 Tri Teck gold tip at 800 psi , brill soft edges
Hi, HEA Protip 517 can also be used for Wagner for 117
As long as you use the correct tip guard then yes,

Do the Graco FF tips leave a noticeably better finish than the Wagner’s?
good demo ive yet to try these Ill have to get some now
Thank you very much for a great review.

I find that the 517 is the only thing that sprays latex paint properly. 515 splatters and 619 uses so much paint.

love your vids man hello from the uk
Thanks Dude appreciated
what tip would you recommend for spraying doors
a .10 or a .12 size tip,
i always use 515 hea tips for walls and ceilings with white filter could i use yellow filter aswell?
hi yes you can but it'll defeat the purpose, because with the finer filter you'll need to turn your pressure up higher for the same results and flow
Impressive for a .517 tip 👍💯

Yes, we always thin paint when spraying to increase atomisation at the tip.
another question on these tips...how are they with 2 part epoxy paint which i spray at least twice a week or more.
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS tips work no problem with all paints.

For enamels the fflp tips are better because the sizes are smaller, but for water based the HEA tips are superior in finish
