Well much like Eric mentioned, you can have your usual Joker interpretation, and you can have a Joker interpretation like this. That's the beauty of having different creators on the wheel of these characters if done right. Much like how the comics have different interpretations of the same characters regardless if it lines up with the main rendition we know of or not. It is an elseworlds story, so if they want to do something a bit different, they can as long as the writing is good. Which I don't doubt Todd Phillips at all.
Feel like the joker....what does that even mean? Did Nicholson feel like Hamill? Did Hamill feel like Ledger? Did any of them feel like the several iterations in the comics? They're just telling a story.
I mean it looks like a well made movie, but I don't really have much interest in it. Joker seemed like it was made to be a one off, artsy, film. This seems like studio mandated sequel because it made a billion dollars. I just don't think I particularly need or want this movie.
