Depends. The first one was obviously good but it was really damned depressing. It wasn’t as depressing as that film with Idris Elba about child soldiers but that’s a high bar.

The vibe this joker gives is gripping, you don’t know where it will go and how far, he’s also so believable
One of the folks attached to the film said that Gaga really surprised him. They said that she really matched Joaquin in energy and really brought it. I am SUPER excited about a dark, dreamy, slightly darker and more real version of these characters. Yes, its a musical....but these characters seem REALISTICALLY gritty. There is a dark, creepy, compelling element to this film that look incredibly epic.
The cinematography in this is absolutely gorgeous, it’s definitely going to get an Oscar nomination
It'll probably get overlooked, just like how The Batman was robbed of a cinematography Oscar nomination. The cinematography in that movie was amazing, Idk how it was not nominated!
@@lazzi2462This isn’t really comparable to The Batman lol, it’s premiering at Venice and competing for the Golden Lion, so it’s definitely more awards friendly than The Batman was (not to mention the first Joker was the Oscars nominations leader in its year)

I’m so excited for Lady Gaga to have to role. This is such a great opportunity for her. This is right up her alley. Gaga is one of thee great performers of our time.
Seeing her perform in person is something I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys entertainment! The Monster Ball tour was a life changing experience! Not because of some personal reasons which it was that also but because I have never experienced live entertainment quite like that.
She put sooo much thought behind every little detail. Her hand was in every single minor detail to create an experience beginning to end for her fans and people who got dragged to the show.
From the opening act to the choice of curtain for the stage (it had a pulsating morphing square pattern projected onto the curtain and the curtain moved forward and back giving it a visual appearance that looked much like you were tripping on hallucinogens if you’ve ever had that experience where things look they are breathing).

From my neutral perspective(not the biggest fan of all her music), she's our generation's Marilyn Monroe. You, her (gaga) fan sounds exactly how people talk about her (Monroe).
This movie may be a perfect mix of the last 20 years of entertainment.
Although if this movie trumps the first one, I suspect a trilogy.
Part 3 being act 3, as if it were all a huge theater production brought to screen.

Why do people keep thinking it makes sense to link this and The Batman. Joker takes place in the 70s and The Batman has cellphones, Riddler is on the internet to get his following and Batman has contact lens cameras. They are clearly in completely different time periods.

Part of me wished he was part of Battinson's Batverse. Phoenix & Pattinson in a movie together would have been amazing! I wasn't really feeling Barry Keoghan's deleted Joker scene from the Batman, but we'll see how he does once he gets the main antagonist role in one of the future Batman movies. His Joker seems very disturbing, so at least it's a fresh take.
Such a missed opportunity. He would’ve been great with Robert Pattinson, Paul dano , Colin Farrell. It seemed perfect to put him in that world.

Batman was created at the end of Joker 1, but it'll be years before he actually shows up. My prediction: Joker 3 will be about how Batman's arrival completely changes Joker forever.

I don’t mind like they said but you really don’t need to put down one work to prop another. It’s weak criticism and something kids do lol. Not trying to hate that came off harsh. But no matter what something to you will always seem better especially when you get a lot of one thing. I can assume if they watch a slice of life show they will hype it up as “real story cause of characters” vs an action series that they used to like. Marvel isn’t worst just cause you like the artsy astetic and “real movie” is a pretentious take I wish directors weren’t the be all for how we enjoy stuff. You can look like marvel and be good. Marvel doesn’t need to be focused and good at everything to be passable. Their structured lighting works for them. Also plenty had different lighting and story structure and people complained. Loki, eternals, look different from Wandavision, werewolf by night, and so on. I’d get it if they watched most but they skip around. What if season 2 looks different film wise that one nior ep from other eps. Cap civil war looks different from cap 1. It’s just fun to hate marvel now.

@@BadriKid Yeah, it's sad that the big directors are just as simple as the normal everyday people on that front. Makes me wonder, am i wrong for just judging what the person tried to create, vs comparing it to the best in the genre or another. no real answer honestly. But like, do people really think it's fair to say an action movie had less character development than this movie i watched where 3 characters talked in one room for 2 hours and developed to be Yadda Yadda. Yeah, sure, but you're removing why that said action movie is good too, and not using that take on the drama. I could say that drama is boring no explosions but I sound like an idiot...yet if it's done the other way around people claim yes so good...that action series wasn't as developed as that one-on-one discussion for 2 hours. Not saying action can't have deep discussions or plots. I think fights are done well tell a story. I could go on, but I rant too much, lol.
PS: The reason they think Joker is more "of a movie" is likely the filter or aesthetic they put over it that we're used to...for film. It's akin to thinking black and white is more authentic...and to be fair we all do this, or i do. Still agree it looks good, and their opinions aren't invalid, just gave me food for thought and discussion. I still support and like their energy. They're also speaking off the cuff, so it's fine.

Eternals was a great example of what y’all talking about. Phases 4 and 5 is more creative than phases 1,2 and 3. Directors had more freedom in phases 4 and 5 but because the general audience don’t love it so they’re going back to being predictable 💯

Most critics aren’t as diverse as the couch why is it bad to get their perspective. Also they are critical of stuff anti w people hate.
