What does it take to put Spot to work? | Boston Dynamics

- Spot has been deployed in the real world more than any other walking robot. But what goes into making a robot that just works? Take a look inside our reliability labs to see how we test Spot's capabilities, durability, endurance, and more. We push Spot to the limit so you can automate without limitation.

I'm a simple man. When Boston Dynamics uploads a video I watch.
I worry.
Oh wow, you are rly that simple?
Same as you.
We're all just machines, after all
Watch IMMEDIATELY
I like it when he walks up the stairs.
always moving forward
even in reverse
Nop
well except when it has to go down stairs, then it goes backward forward... or is it going forward backward?
I still think that they should make a spot for people with disabilities. It would make a big difference to people's lives.
Bro, 10 years from now AI will see u as the disabled creature ;7
What an amazing robot! Wish I had one, but it is very expensive
There is still Xiaomi's cyberdog.

the good work Boston Dynamics!

Good work respect 🎉🎉🎉
It is great to the the focus on reliability!
I find it funny how they keep them in kennels like real dogs
Boston Dynamics I have loved your content and Robots for years I have been watching you since 2020 and you guys have inspired me alot. Keep up the good work Boston Dynamics! ♥
I'm amazed by ours every time I put it to work
Okay, good video intro
More from the Atlas-Front, please. 🥰
You had to go and ask!
Atlas is dead for now.
Check again
The goodest doggo!
Can you guys start working on a Rosie from the Jetsons. If anyone is capable of pulling that off it’s you guys
No a humanoid robot company using ai could pull that off. Its founder is going to school to learn ai to compete with the robot humanoid companies thst use ai to train their robots so they can learn to do tasks unsupervised.
After reading some of the comments, i want to add Boston dynamics spot is a mature product. Yes i have been following them for more than a decades. All of the spot copy that you see are in research stage. Research Stage. Don't compare it to spot
🔥🔥🔥
Yay 💜🥰🤘🏻😊
Good doggy !
Cool
I wonder how many places are using Spot? It would be cool to see some testimonials or something.
you want to see some testi what icles? 😮😮😮
@@tafdiz @tafdiz "@Palmit_ are you 13?" sorry pal. i'm too old for your target grooming age range.

Its so cute.

What a cute little guy
I don't get the video. They didn't explain anything.
Cute + reliable = 👌

Were you guys able to repair the one that got in a gunfight ?
This video was spot on!
Show finally something new instead of thousands promo videos
Do you think we will ever see Spot move beyond industrial/commercial applications to households? Or is there not enough money for a quadruped robots outside of those markets?
I WANT THE ROBOT PUPPY
いつみてもかわいい…
Has Boston Dynamics considered the Minotaur form factor? Really pulls together the benefits of Spot and Atlas…
Before 2 Weeks i have seen a presentation of spot in the museum of science in Boston and i thought that spot and other robots can move and decide by themselves but i was wrong because there was always someone who navigate them. Are there any plans to give robots more independence connected to AI and do their duties without interference from humans?
Once general AI is real, sure
그냥 rc 제품을 잘 만드는 회사일뿐이며 ai 에는 전혀 진보가 없습니다.
Id love to see this robot used as a medical service device.
Voice activated! "Spot - give me drugs" 😂 lots of potentional. good idea @nationshi
00:02 do you already need cages for them? :)
as someone who used to do it, I could see this being deployed in a nuclear power generating facility for general area surveillances for radiation levels. Some areas it wouldn't be good for as it would take to much work to cover it up and uncover to keep clean, but most of the aux building, exterior areas and other RCAs would work fine. would just need to add gps and telemetry and detection gear and it would be good to go.
We do have customers using Spot for radiation surveys in nuclear power facilities! bostondynamics.com/case-studies/dominion-energy/
@@BostonDynamics that is a great article and the person featured has an occupation I had for 15 years before moving on to computer programming. I have some ideas how it could be used in environmental cleanup sites as well, such as the Hanford facility in Washington from my experience at Fernald.
The banana peel lol
What is boston dynamics' spot software size?
It would have been nice for you to described what it took, not just a fancy click bate.
It doesn't scare me one bit, but I seen and filmed a T380 AI floor cleaning tech machine in a Winco 6 months ago and nobody wanted to talk about it nor look at it. I asked a couple employees what they think of their new cobot? They were not amused not thrilled one bit. I think it's truly fascinating and that we need to embrace the future as it arrives. I'd go for a robotics degree if I were in my 20's again for a regular university bachelors of science in business earned 20 years ago doing advanced math and statistics for a big nothing didn't have a return on investment other than it teased me about the global economy and the American dream that no longer exists for most setting out on a quest for a career. Our job market and corporate work culture is toxic and dysfunctional yet had a most awesome potential.
Guys if you use the LLM tech with your hardware you'll be untouchable.
@harbirsingh7266
I'm pretty sure they already have implemented it in some iteration, but I'd have to look it up to find the name.
Imma get me one of these and name it Bolt.
Can these function in vacuum
I have an idea. OpenAI Artificial Intelligence. Boston Dynamics robot body. They’re destined for each other.
You should consider putting solar panels on it's body to drastically increase outside operation time
😎👍
Boston dynamics knows if they made spot smaller, cheaper/dumber(possibly by taking out some of the more professional electronics, making it work off wifi instead of 5g etc.) and adding a more standalone ai, they would overtake real dogs, I respect that they haven't. . But God do I want one
To me, he is called Craig :3
OMG
🐕❤
They took er jobs
These robot dogs will be surpassed by the next generation of robot dogs. Just like Atlas was surpassed. Some of the features to think about is robot dogs that respond by command and that can communicate with human. This all can be done by ai. Hanson Robotics is the next to go on the chopping block since their Sophia robot only runs on programming.
0:30 Spot shelter
It’s just so hard to actually make these useful. It’s like you’ll have to intentionally build an industry and market for them because one doesn’t actually exist. There’s few situations where these make sense compared to just using a person. Idk they’re awesome but idk where they’d even be practical or cost effective
some time people gona be laughter of this clumsy robots 🤖
Need some examples how is spot lifting up if fall down on left or right side.

Unfortunately, Boston Dynamics stopped innovating a long time ago. If this continues, it will be overtaken by other new competitors,
please innovate again, I'm a fan of yours
It is mind-boggling that they are outpaced by companies founded just two years ago. They don't even have a humanoid planned for deployment in factories (Atlas is for research only).
맞습니다. 더이상의 기술과 혁신도 없습니다. 혼다가 아시모 개발을 중단한것은 잘한것입니다.
@@PaulSchwarzer-ou9sw My own two cents on that is that humanoid robots just aren't that beneficial. Humans are a pretty flawed design, so there are few reasons to make something that works like we do. Stretch and Spot cover a lot of bases, and they do so because they're not humanoid. I find things like the Tesla robot to be a bit of a joke, and not much more than a tech demonstration. All of that said, I appreciate that they still work on Atlas, but I'm glad it's not their main focus. Do you see some application where a humanoid is better than another form factor?
@@PaulSchwarzer-ou9swoutpaced? My friend, of all their contemporaries, boston is the only one who actually has companies buying these forward looking robots and doing something useful. I get excited because videos like this are continuing to show how they have progressed from r&d to products rather than vapor ware.
@@andrewbennett5733 Truth right there. Imagine using Atlas or Figure1 to literally cook coffee. It would be the most expensive and redundant coffee machine ever. Much easier to equip a coffee machine with AI :x Same goes for almost all applications I'd guess.
if i ever win the lottery he will be my butler/bartender
I just want one to go check my (physical) mailbox. Post-Spot. With a nice hat.
These guys are fortunate to have the jobs they do, but not because they do interesting work.
More than the average family would be able to spare in a year.
no tiene nada nuevo ? como que se detuvieron los avances ?
enough, i quit
I expected a better performance from Boston dynamics, unfortunately, despite the fact that you are constantly dealing with this business, you are moving very slowly. Don't sleep, we expect better developments from you.
Sorry I didn't even watch the video I was just vibing to the music
I need money, so i can buy dis.
Remember when it had doglike face and slip on the banana's skin? Doesn't time flies
wish an American company like Amazon would buy them
Weird looking doggo I must say
Shouldn't there be some kind of Nürburgring for mechanical quadrupeds by now? Time up-and-down national landmarks with stairs from bottom to top? A Paris-Dakar wouldn't be entirely appropriate until they're sold for 'extended all terrain' use?
Hoahwoah, my personal mount. Never occured to me but damn ;D
Can this robot climb Mount Everest?
How about horse robot or camel robot sir
bring the old marketing team back. these corporate videos suck.
Realization.
Only costs a small fortune. If you don't mind paying the price of a small house then sure, get one of these.
Spot goes woof
Have you tried making it nuclear powered? I bet that’ll extend the battery by an hour or two.
Boston dynamics + openAI = ☠️
Imagine these with knives and if they were faster and would chase down humans
Spot can run over 25 mph.
I ask the same question about my dog. Bro pays no rent smh
If I were a billionaire, I would buy one just to fetch things from the kitchen.
Cool we’ve seen this for the past few years. Make some progress already.
Can it open a pickle jar though?

As far as I know, real dogs have the same type of knee configuration.

This is it!
Robbo doggy i wish i could buy one without needing to sell my kidney and half of my liver
