As a Houstonian and Astros fan. I love my home ball-park. It’s a shame that we can’t get more games with the roof open, especially in the first few weeks of the season or during the post-season when the weather is nice in Houston to do so. They do open it up every Friday night after games for fireworks and it’s always a cool experience, and they’ll open it up for watch parties during the post season of the Astros are playing out of town. Went to MM to watch game 5 of the 2019 WS. Admission was free. Weather was cool with the roof open.
@@adanalyst6925 It's open for maybe 2 or 3 games in April and then never again for the rest of the season unless the commissioner makes them open it for a postseason game, which has happened several times (most recently ALCS game 2 of last season). In the early 2000's they used to close the roof at the start of a night game when it was hot then open it in the 7th when it got a little cooler. Wish they would do that again. I was a little kid back then and went to some games where they did that. At that age, I thought it was the coolest thing ever to see the roof move.
Another great video. I've never been to Minute Maid Park, but from everything I've saw on tv and the internet it looks like AWESOME stadium and I have it on my Stadium bucket list.
They kinda did. The new Rangers ballpark is just a hodgepodge of the good ideas and designs from other parks in the league. Like if you asked ChatGPT to design a modern baseball stadium. It's a very nice park, but there's nothing special about it
Im really disappointed i didnt get to Minute Maid Park before they removed Tal's Hill. Thought it was so intriguing, and reminiscent of old long gone ballparks. Shame.
The other thing that sadly is very noticeable today as opposed to the early pictures you have on here is the ridiculous amount of advertising on that beautiful arching architecture that the train is set on over and above the outfield walls , “OXY”(of all things) among other advertisements that just trashes the look of it….
Did this dude say the Astros busted 5 million dollars worth of trash cans? You do know that the “banding” only went on for a season. I’m sure they destroyed 100 trash cans a game. What a dumb thing to say
I always thought it was bush league. The things you like I hate about it. It looks like a minor league park with the design and the train. There's no character in the outfield. The batter has to hit the ball above the yellow line. There's no bleachers and no way for the ball to truly be out of here.
It’s connected to the Old Union Train Station building so the train makes sense. Also it great to hear the whistle after a home run. Out field has one of the few manual score boards in the league. One of the first teams to get rid of out field seats for bars and standing areas.
I love the fireworks on Friday
Love The Juice Box. Best view is on the right field line in the field box seats with the roof open on a Spring Day. Go Stros.

I’m the #1 Astros fan
Minute Maid Park is beautiful when they open it up. It is average when closed.
The views of the Houston skyline are epic when the roof is open.
Do you know when the roof is usually open?

Houston summers are very unpleasant but I didn’t think the roof was kept closed for almost the whole baseball season.
Ha! 😂 the story of Daikin Park now
Glad you finally covered the drinking areas in Minute Maid! I always hear how great Denver is and how bad Cleveland went.

The older ballpark gets to me it's turned into a classic!
Yes the juice box best team 2022 World Series champs😊😊😊
I live in Houston and Minute Maid is a great baseball stadium even today.
The giant unnecessary flag pole within the field of play was really dumb
This is what i was hoping the Rangers would model their new ballpark after.

@@RyanHollis That's actually a really good way of putting it. The ballpark is like AI generated it.
@@RyanHollis hks designs are cold and sterile.
@@RyanHolliswhat specific elements do you feel it took from what parks?
U have never felt Houston’s 80 degrees. It’s super humid still and can be 80 but can still feel as if it’s 90
The roof looks like the walls on the Roanoke center
They need to take the ads down covering the arches in left field
Any railfan will know that its not a train its a locomotive. There are no cars behind the locomotive.
(it's a very very common mistake)
🤓
So if it had a car behind it it would be a train what about the coal box car behind it
@@richardharepax123 the "coal car" is part of the locomotive
I believe the roof has been repainted multiple times in the past.
the arches area looks awful now with all those ads on it
Those ads are in every ballpark now.
Ha, Pretty Casual!

Talls hill looks like something you see in one of those liminal space videos
Tal's hell
The hill was an homage to Crosley Field not Yankee Stadium
Et's actually a hell, not a hill. The video guy sid so.
I think its one lf the best stadiums, its in downtown
Nice video!

I hate playing here in mlb
Trashcan shortage 😂
Giving this video a like solely for the trashcan joke

The games start with the roof closed but opens up around the 7th inning when the sun sets.
that never happens

I like big walls but think it’s kinda cheap when you only have to hit the ball like 1/2 way up it to get a home run.
Thr Home That CHEATERS Built!!!
