    If the Rogers Centre gets a new roof all I ask is that they don't change the shape. The white dome has become so iconic with Torontos skyline and it would look weird without it

      I dont get the idea of replacing the stadium at all. Its been iconic to all of baseball since Joe Carter’s walk off homer in the 93 series. Once there is something like that occurring at a stadium, a replacement should be out of the question.

    • @brothaman007
      @brothaman007 Год назад +1

      @@themaestro3034 Even if it is a bottom 5 stadium? Even if it has the worst upper decks in baseball? Even though it has the seats on the lower bowl behind the plate that are the furthest away in all of baseball? The back row on the lower level behind the plate goes about 10 rows more than everyone else. With your logic, the Polo Grounds should still be around after "the Catch", or The Braves should be playing in Fulton County stadium after Hank Aaron's dinger.

    Having gone to games at Exhibition Stadium, I remember going to the SkyDome's opening in 1989 (I still have the Domer turtle stuffed animal mascot). It was so revolutionary for its time, and still nothing operates like it today (which is both good and bad). A translucent roof would be incredible - anything to get some real light in there. I wish they could have taken out seating for windows to make it more airy rather than the concrete coffin that it is. But when there's a full crowd, the place can get LOUD.

    Every building: New and shiny - hype is over - its dated - when can I get a new building - old and gross - (and if it survives this timeline) -> old but heritage - there's history here! - finally MLB shines!!!!!
    It still needs owners who maintain, invest and making updates. What I want to see is a stadium that can evolve with time. We don't all need new stadiums every 25 years. It is only classical, if it survive that 25-50 years old age where everyone want something new, and it isn't old enough to be heritage.

    Love your content Ginger! But I really have to disagree with your assessment of these parks. I'm not sure anyone cares what it looks like on the outside. They get to enjoy the game on the inside. Interior comfort, amenities, sightlines and location are far greater concerns to most fans. Rogers Centre is still a good park! The recent "refresh" has made it better than before at least. And the location is pretty much perfect in Toronto.

    The thing that's nice about T-Mobile is that unlike other parks it's not a box which I hate. It's a regular ballpark with a cover like you said. I like Rogers because the roof is unique and it's not obscenely large and the ballpark looks like a ballpark not just a box. I hate the windows look. That does nothing for me. Chase Field is nice because it closes quickly. It's a simple design.

    It's crazy with Rogers Centre because the white top is iconic with the Toronto skyline next to the CN Tower. It's like an igloo type look like the old Civic Center in Pittsburgh. I do think a glass see-through translucent roof is something the stadium needs. I think these days with roofs is that lighting needs to be allowed into these stadiums instead of the darker look. I think if Rogers Centre does the roof they can guarantee a stay there for 12-15 years like you said in the video. I just think they should redo the seating around the stadium and modernize that part of the stadium. T-Mobile Park has the best of having a feel of an open-air stadium when the roof isn't closed. I do think we're going to see more windows and translucent designs with roofs in MLB going forward.

    • @brothaman007
      @brothaman007 Год назад

      The problem with a translucent roof, would be ice falling from the CN tower. There is not a lot of clear material that would not fry the people below in the summer, and still be strong enough to prevent ice from 100 stories above from cracking it.

      False. This is the specific reason they have not installed the glass. Unlike most places, there is not too many that are going to get chunks of ice falling from anywhere close to the height of the CN Tower, that is the key difference. They have had holes in the dome roof right now from ice.

    • @PredatorKingdom
      @PredatorKingdom Год назад

      @@brothaman007 False on your end, that glass will not break, like I said before they use new technology now where it's super thick glass that doesn't shatter like regular glass does, so even a chunk of ice will not shatter it. The current roof is not as strong as these newer translucent roofs are these days. The one that happened in 2018, is on the current roof which is not that strong.

      True. If they have to close it during the summer it's for rain and they leave the outfield panels open to allow some airflow. Unless it's raining heavy sideways and then they close it up and it becomes unbearably humid and uncomfortable. Only happens a couple games a year though at most

      @jordantibbetts8470 As someone who's familiar with the stadium planning and been to almost 1000 games there the main seating area and playing field do not have air conditioning. They sometimes will run the fans behind the seats to keep air moving but it would have been way more money at the time to install air conditioning units at the stadium that would have been needed less then 10 times a year if that. The club level concourse, Leinies Barrel restaurant and what used to be the 300 club are air conditioned as well as sometimes the stores. Every place in the stadium can be heated though, correct. I don't think many of the bathrooms have air conditioning either. That's why even if it's 90 plus degrees, humid and sun bearing down the roof will be open
