I’ve had the RM 29 and now have recently acquired this identical price. Much prefer the RM 10 as there is a lot of movement visible on the lower portion of the dial. I will get the same strap when one is available. It weighs 77-grams with the rubber strap & deployant. Great piece all around and I’ve worn it every day since getting it.
James West awesome! congrats! im a fan of the RM design. My thing with it being transparent though is that it might have readability issues? Any comments on that? And why the 010 over the 029?
EJ Trinidad very easy to read, can’t recommend either reference enough. Many strap options as well to change it up, as this could be an only watch. RM 10 is identical to the 29 except the date is larger and on the opposite side of the dial on the RM 29 which has yellow nameplate.
+TickTocking Hi Steve.. wondering what are your thoughts on the RM-016 which share the same movement as this watch? Have you done a video on that model? Thx. Great videos as always!
+TickTocking Can you tell me how Richard Mille a company that has been only in existence since 1999 and launched their first watch in 2001 command such high prices. All of the other big luxury brands have been around 90+ years and sell watches for high prices based on brand name and the fact they have been around for so long. If a watch company were to just start up and make a watch comparable to the Rolex GMT ii they would not be able to sell for as much because of the name and prestige of Rolex. However this did not apply to Richard Mille and the price of their watches is in Patek catergory they even seem to have a base price quite higher than the cheapest Pateks so how were they able to break this barrier in the watch industry.
The basis of what makes a watch valuable is based on the quality of the watch and the brand it's coming from. A good comparison can be in the difference between a Philippe Dufour Simplicity and a traditional Patek Philippe Calatrava. Dufour has not been making watches since the 19th century like Patek, but a time only Simplicity sells for more than $180,000, which is a similar price range for a PP 5970 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph in platinum. Richard Mille is simply new age haute horology for a modern collector. The price is justified because of the needs of the average RM customer. Most RM owners already own great watches such as Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Vintage Rolex, etc. Richard Mille is a brand which makes watches for people who want something exotic and different than the norm of traditional haute horology. RM watches are great for active lifestyles as well because the titanium movements and cases are very robust.
I think you said it yourself really, if you made a watch like the gmt 2 you couldn't sell it for the price of the gmt 2. if you made a patek copy you couldn't possibly sell it for the price of a patek. Find me a watch that looks like this! Frank muller is the worst watch ever next to these so they don't compare, patek I mean come on, except from the price perspective, you can't compare it either. The closest in spirit is the ROO by audemar. And guess what, prices are competitive. Moreover, the early movements for RM and some of the tourbillon were made by the same manufacture that makes the movements for the ROO and which is partially owned by AP. The way I see it this is a competitor to the offshore but in a completely different style language. If you put it against the offshore price is fair, and so is history the offshore was launched in the mid 90s this was launched in 2001.
When I first learned of Mille and the watches I just didn't get them. I do now pretty much what you guys say especially the comment in that Mille is for those high end collectors who have all the standard, basics covered and are looking for the edgy watch. Speaking of Frank Muller, his watches really don't speak to me, I do see what he is trying to do, but considering where he came from, his experiences and such I still wouldn't consider his watches.
This one I don't mind. RMs are usually gaudy and a technicolor mess. If I was given one, I would sell it right away. This one I might keep for a while. Doesn't feel gimmicky.
Awesome Piece, I like how the Kevlar/Velcro looks on the wrist; incredibly understated.

@@jameswestconsultant yeah. I'd give the edge slightly to the 010.. I like that it's more monochromatic. both look great though
This will be my first RM
Have you gotten it yet?

How big is your wrist? Wondering how this would fit on smaller wrists
Can you do a review on the three GP Absolute? Thanks

really cool reviews
did you buy this one?

For 100k i get velcro yay
U can get this for around 65,000 used lightly or 100,000 new
UselessCatToe 45,000 in 6 months
@@BobbyDazzler888 They're going for around 80k
BAPHOMET give it another year, downhill. Theyll turn into an uncool yesterdays fashion watch. Richard not even a watchmaker, just a businessman
@@BobbyDazzler888 I wanna see how bad your comment ages. Owh guess what? It’s been 10 months… close to a year and prices are soaring. Jokes on you pal
The ONLY good looking RM... the rest look like they came with a happy meal
Agreed 100%
Matt Finley Earlier RMs have this vibe
back again... buy me one to wear
you are seeing a $130,000 watch held to the wrist using velcro. Isn't that like parking a ferrari in a cardboard box?
Really cool watch, but the Velcro looks really cheap... Should have been a titanium tang buckle at least.... Preferably a deployment clasp....
I thought Richard Milles' weren't automatic...
Aren't expensive watches usually automatic? Because that what makes them complicated to make
its really too thick for a watch without any complications
