Just saw him last night in Manchester, England. It's the greatest thing in music I have ever witnessed in my life; the thrill of a lifetime. Go see him folks!
I would loooovvve love love love to see him live. Love your comment too. ❤
@@tamarajans he's playing Manchester again in November. I'll be there.
it takes a once in a lifetime musician to bring back bluegrass to the masses and further win an award for it. The odds of this were astronomical.
So well said. He went on to say 2 or 3 years later (?) that he thought that many songs could transformed to “Bluegrass”. He went on to do covers of “Don’t Think Twice “ by Bob Dylan , The Allman Brothers, Jackson Browne and many others. And one of the most beautiful “Summertime."
This is such a wonderful addition to bluegrass. This song takes that old time bluegrass style and gives it new life. I hope bluegrass artists in 60 years all know this song as a standard. Well done Billy Strings.
Honestly, when I first hear it I thought it was a cover of a Bill Monroe song. I can hear Bill singing this. Amazing.
@bobfrost4134 turns out, the Mandolin player, Jared MF Walker wrote it!
Yes, yes, yes. Billy Strings and the Boys tearing it up on Austin City Limits. New blood in town. Billy is the latest, oh so fine bluegrass singer/songwriter, flat picker, performer to leave his indelible mark on roots music in Austin. What a fantastic band. Three terrific leads trading solos seamlessly. A driving beat with a bassman deep in the pocket keeping it all together. May this band be around a very long time. Billy's songwriting puts him in rare company and it is easy to see there is much more to come. Thanks Billy and the Boys. Lots of love there.
Billy Strings has been around a while, tho. . . like... "a while".
While I wouldn't call him "new blood", he's definitely a generational talent.
Red daisy was actually written by Jared Walker on the mandolin (and one of Jared’s friends). Cory Walker, Jared’s brother is also a really talented musician. Jared and the other co-writer of “Red Daisy” met by way of Cory ❤️
Best I've heard since Old Crow Medicine Show. Though I miss the harmonica.
@@longleke1597 Yes, he actually wrote a few great songs they have in their usual rotation...... Gotta give him credit, where credit's due!!!

Billy Strings is one the Newest Musical Geniuses..Simply Awesome!
Damn. If you forced me to answer, I would have sworn this was a Bill Monroe cover. I can hear Bill singing this. Amazing.

That boy better come off those Marlboros or he'll be having more in common with Tony Rice than geetar pickin
Now Dead Heads/Phish Fans are following this kid? Never thought drug culture would infect Bluegrass Music.
I love him!, but when I went to see him live I was appalled by the glorification of drug use. I’m 63 just because something comes from the earth doesn’t mean it is harmless. Poppies are grown!

You know, I'd prefer the lavaliere that Billy has before, instead of the soundhole pickup he has now
Why did he get 33 tattooed on his forearm? Jesus was betrayed for 33 pieces of silver. That number is associated with occult practices. Was Fame free Billy?
