This animated adventure retells the story of the lost daughter of Russia's last czar. The evil Rasputin places a curse on the Romanov family, and Anastasia and her grandmother, Empress Maria, get separated. After growing up in an orphanage, Anastasia encounters two Russian men seeking a reward offered by Empress Maria for the return of her granddaughter. The trio travels to Paris, where they find that the empress has grown skeptical of imposters.

Vlad was seriously an underrated member of the cast in this film. Kelsey Grammer really nailed the gentle, warm, spirited grandfatherly persona for the character, and he felt believable in the role of the person to convince Anya to take a chance on trying to prove to the Dowager Empress that she was her granddaughter.
Vlad is a character that as soon as he showed up on screen he was instantly a favorite

The animation used in this film is Liquid Gold.
The animation was done by Don Bluth. He used to work at Disney but left to set up his own animation company. In my opinion his animation work is way better than Disney

@@kevin-2.1 Probably because the real Anastasia's body was found a few years after this movie was released, so now everyone knows what really happened to her, poor girl. I like to think of this movie as an alternative ending for her - a "could have been: 🥲

This is my favourite scene. But not because of the romance, but because I crack up every single time Dimitri says shit like: "The dress looks good on you, you should wear it" "I'm wearing it" and the best line in cinematic history: "Maybe we should stop" "We have stopped"
It's peak comedy for me.
I guess Anastasia technically is a Disney Princess now.
I mean, Disney did buy 20th Century Fox and it is on Disney+ so I guess it is technically a Disney movie now, which makes Anastasia a Disney princess!
