@@Av8Rmedic911Unreal is just the engine. They are doing the same thing as People of Newberry / Signiti in that they are using unreal store asset packs rather than making some of this stuff themselves. It is more polished though.
This game is produced by PlayWay - producers of Cooking Simulator, Car Mechanic Simulator etc. It means there's a great chance (bigger than I firstly thought) the game is real and will be released.

@@twinkletentacles7419 Check out PlayWay's facebook - you can find there an encouragement to add the game to Wishlist. Also a polish gaming magazine Pixel wrote a news on their webpage where they directly say that PlayWay and VGG Studio are working on the game.

I understand you're all skeptical because it looks too good to be true and unlike Paralives there was no previous hype to it. First, right two days after the channel was created they posted this, and second, they have 0 information on the game studio or its devs, no Twitter, Instagram, or anything. I recommend waiting until it's released and seeing a RUclipsr reviewing it before buying.
Skeptical because people have confirmed the same footage was used in a previous "game" look up newbury, check a side by side comparison for yourself, the character creation is the same, same company too so. ech... iffy stuff my man, iffy stuff.
You are right. It looks too good to be true. But since I desperately want a real Sims competitor to shake EA up, I wish this project every success. I've also put it on my Steam wishlist right now. Let's hope for the best.

Almost everything's free assets, even the music used in this video is free royalty. If the developer has some real budget and effort to create something - anything from scratch, you'd think they'd put a bit of character, a bit of life into the teaser trailers, but even this video looks generic. The game itself looks too similar with People of The Newberry and other 'promising' simulation games. I won't cross my fingers but I sure hope there's one good game out there that is at the very least reflective of the visual quality they displayed early on.

Idk I’m not a fan of the graphics tbh… By no means do I dislike nice looking graphics but this looks like it’s make my eyes hurt after playing for awhile. With the sims and paralives the cartoony look just looks good and is charming
I play with realistic cc, and I can’t go back to ea textures, but I get your point, it does have certain charm
I prefer the more realistic graphics, but I understand where you coming from. I hope Paralives updates their graphics a bit because it's too cartoony for me right now. I dislike the Sims 4 graphics quite a bit. I can take cartoony if it has a very realistic feel to it though. Not sure if that makes sense. lol

Well, unlike "People of Newberry", this game is now listed on Steam. Unless.. they reworked the game into this, IF it's actually made by the same devs.

The game is in alpha it’s no where near done and these type of games take at least 2-6 years depending on the effort so I wouldn’t knock them for an introduction video to their game. It says at the bottom of the screen that the game is in its alpha stage, so in other words this is the concept they’re going for. So I wouldn’t knock them for the unity assets if they aren’t even in their beta stage yet
This feels...shady...and the fact that the company(?) themselves aren't addressing anyone's suspicions makes it even more suspicious.
However, if this is real... I think I'll be trying Paralives over this one. I know this is just a minute-long video but the big red flag for me was the "build the house of your dreams" yet we're given a very square house. I am really digging the rounded/curved walls that Paralives presented in their video. That truly means that I can actually build the house of my dreams. Sorry The Sims and AlterLife but my dream house isn't living in a square-all-around, Minecraft starter home-looking building. lol.
I'd like to see more proof that this game is going to stick. Sure, it's on the Steam store but how many other games have been on the steam store under early access just for them to cash grab and bounce a few months after the game's release? Plenty. I feel like this one will probably end up the same way. This definitely won't be one of those impulse purchases, that's for sure.
Remember the game "RAW"? Looks a bit same to me. Trailer made from Unreal Engine assets and no real gameplay behind. But at least they arent on Kickstarter like RAW and try to grab the money and disapear.
Welp i dont think we can call this a scam. Yes, they dont have any social media or anything else related to the game aside from this trailer. But at the same time, there are no Kickstarter or Patreon, they havent taken anyone's money.
I am looking forward to VivaLand it looks like might come out before this game. it's a shame really cos the characters in this look cool for AlterLife.

chrome fucking sucks i have a laptop that would over heat somethings when playing games and no joke chrome made it over heat just by being open wiith only one tab firefox on the other hand runs great even with 5 to 20 pus tabs open 24/7 yeah i always have a lot of tabs open

This does look like another generic Sims/Paralives clone with unreal store assets, but there seems to be a good level of polish at least. Curious to see a bit more about what actually makes this game unique.
I'd definitely like to see more too. Looks good so far, but would like to see game play.

@@mattreef5269 That is because they are using pre-made unreal store assets like People of the Newberry / Signiti. It cuts down on development time but also limits the kind of things they can include in the game, since they are not making those assets themselves.

@@rodrigope. Sims is already released. Anyone can easily take heavy inspiration to an extent and make their own game with it.
It looks exciting - well at least for someone like me who likes to customize EVERYTHING in such a game. Looking forward to seeing more from it!

The most relaistic but lifeless graphics
....So...2yrs later & no updates. Guess this was a bust. :( Just saw a trailer for it on a brand new Sims RUclipsr video. Why have a trailer for a game that has had no updates in 2yrs? Strangely looks hella similar to Life By You but better humans.

@@xg_arg Its not the same people who made Newberry . The Newberry tem game is now called Signiti . Their channel is still running . The reason it looks similar is because they probably bought the assets from online stores . Lot of cheaper projects do that .

There few places you see game menu, while using fridge and when watering plants, then you have character creator showing menu, but find it odd why show menu there and not when placing furniture or using furniture menu. Seems like only one house plot areas where other people are at looks a bit empty. They're self publishing, so assuming they're start up indies but there no discord links, twitter or any other links to anything aside from youtube which only has one post the trailer. Of cause this could also be because is really early alpha but still, have my concerns about how legit it really is, but to me feels kinda like they wanna get noticed but not noticed at same time.

Honestly even if this isn't a mere scam, I doubt a simulation game could attract that many players with such graphics. The characters lowkey look like they came from gta 5, they look so emotionless and too detailed but in an unnecessary, lowkey unappealing way.
What has shaped simulation games since the beginning isn't the realistic aspect, but how quirky, funny even totally unrealistic and crazy it is while still feeling relatable when it needs to. Making cartoonish characters (the sims obviously) definitely helped the most with that. Even TS4 which lacks depth in many areas still feels very lively and all thanks to the way it looks.
Not to mention most sims players aren't gamers and might struggle with a game with too detailed graphics (that seems to sacrifice fps for it lmao), so even tho I'm 80% convinced this isn't real, just in case it is, I think it'd be for the best to stay away from hyper realistic characters, it strips away their charm.
I think it could attract a different market. What some people I know, who would never touch the sims, hate is the cartoony aspect and feeling that it’s too safe. I’ve played the sims franchise since it first cane out and even I’m beginning to find ts4 childish. So I welcome any type of interpretation that can make EA sweat.
Definitely not. The more realistic models are far better than the childish avatars of other games.

I played life sims my whole life and I modded my sims games for years to achieve hyper realistic sims. Especially in Sims 3. There's quite a lot of simmers who prefer more realistic graphics.
I love the fact that it has graphics similar to second life, I can imagine the clothing mods and the customization of the avatar, I love that!
If two years have passed since that trailer, it's not happening. Hell, mfs haven't put a release date yet. Dudes are most likely are just gon steal your cash and abort it.

This looks fantastic. The Sims has been neglected, especially in-terms of graphical improvements. Maxis/EA have been moving the series along at a snail pace in order to milk DLC. If AfterLife comes with modding capabilities too, then consider me impressed.

I hope the developer won't be intimidated by annoying Simmer mobs. I'm just gonna say cuz it's eventually gonna be common knowledge this is the same developer of People of Newbery that flopped when Simmers found out he purchased aspects of the game. Yes people indie game developers gotta do whatever it takes. As long as there is a great game in the end as an alternative to this insane Sims franchise that is ripping us all off then great! We should all be super supportive so that it has that potential please don't scare him away again. Also using vocabulary related to The Sims doesn't apply here either. Quit asking if there will be mods, custom content, this or that expansion. Let's just be supportive and talk about future development when it comes to that. Obviously this guy is legit about this game if he deleted everything about the previous and re-titled it. Let the guy finish the game and then ask him your bazillion questions once there's a release date.

This does not look real in any way, shape or form, the characters look like basic character models you see in any third rate game and the blue balls look like the same ones paralives used for their furniture in early development, as well as the computer part of the trailer, plus the cloth on the couch looks like you used Daz3D to make place it.

And what do you plan on adding to AlterLife to make it unique and set it apart from other games in the genre? Any details you can share with us would be highly appreciated and would help to establish the legitimacy of AlterLife
I want to believe that this is a legitimate game made by a legitimate new company, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. But like many others, I'm highly skeptical.
If this is real, that will mean that the Sims franchise really needs to step up their game with the Sims 5. This and Paralives (if this is real) will completely change the life simulation genre.

@@mattreef5269 They're using many of the same store-bought unreal engine packs, which is where the suspicions and similarities come from. Given the problems with Signiti, I'm not surprised people are skeptical.

Finally we will be freed from the limited control of Ea games and not only that but also expansions many of them with no purpose for players other than for the money they earn. That is, items that could come more or without the need for a 6-item pack, for example. I hope it comes soon as I am looking forward to venturing into this new game. This looks like concept gameplay? A lot of this looks like default Unreal Editor stuff, and the animations are very sub-par, even for supposed "alpha" footage. Why upload this? Also "Add Afterlife to wishlist"??!?

What’s crazy is that those items are the exact brand items I see in real life, so are they allowed to do that? Like I thought you had to make things up unless your advertising. It might be a scam. This game has full audio in polish and English, so I was 100% sure that it's polish game. It's in created in cooperation with Play Way which is known from making a tons of trailers/teasers and rarely releasing a game. It's not a big chance for releasing this game...
