For those unaware, this IS the original, as written by Mike Pondsmith. This cover is sung by Kerry, but the actual song and lyrics themselves is all Johnny. Samurai released this in 2013, and it was a decade-old classic hit by the time Johnny died. The version you hear on the radio was played live at the concert Johnny hosted the night of the bombing, which is why it's so famous despite being a completely different song.
It wasn't Samurai that released it. It was off the 2013 Silverhand solo album "A Cool Metal Fire." Samurai had long since been broken up by then. However, if you scan the "Chippin' In" album in Kerry's house, you'll find Samurai dropped an album that included a version of the song in 2004. It's likely the one we hear in-game.
The angrier one is apparently the song Johnny played before the Arasaka tower event. Which makes sense, he's pissed off and ready to throw down with Arasaka. This one is Johnny to the core.
It's weird to think that this song was a decade old when Johnny sang the other version live right before the bombing. This was one of his most successful pieces, yet the somewhat bastardized version he sang literal hours before he died is exponentially more famous because of it.
Man, that guitar solo is one of the slickest most beautiful ones ever imagined. It just keeps singing onwards, all the while still letting the singer deliver the chorus one last time without any obstruction until it closes out the very end of the song. Just lovely work all around and terrific synergy with an already amazing vocal performance.
The real deal here is that there's songs in CP 2077 like this one, exclusive for a game, that are better than most songs created standalone. The circumstances remind me Dethklok a lot, how a fictional band can be better than most real ones. This song is f***king awesome!

So much better than Johnny's version. Part of the problem is Refused's lead singer sounds NOTHING like Keanu. If you're gonna stunt-cast Johnny Silverhand with a big celebrity, at least make sure the guy you choose to do the music sounds vaguely like him. This guy sounds more like Keanu than the one they chose.

You're also confusing 2013 and 2023. There was no concert with a bombing. That was the Arasaka riot. Part of the "Never Fade Away" storyline.
Sheesh, no wonder Damian won the Voice of Poland
Also that guitar riff. If this does not cure impotence, you are clearly dead.
Johnny's Chippin in is an angry version while this one is more relaxing one.
I feel for Johnny.
Nah this is Johnnys chippin' in apparently, just sung by kerry
The angrier one is apparently the song Johnny played before the Arasaka tower event. Which makes sense, he's pissed off and ready to throw down with Arasaka.

This is my fav version of the song and quite possibly my fav song in the whole game

By far the best song in my opinion in cyberpunk
The one dislike is from Johnny upset this is the superior version

2024 !!!!😍
Does anyone know if this versions plays on any of the in game radio stations?
No, Kerry Eurodyne Sings it in the past when Johnny rushes in with the gun.

If Samurai were a real band with Keanu Reeves im definitely headed to every concert because its a killer beat .
