My band has 3x of the GLXD16 (the OG) and we've NEVER had an issue with them! They are rock solid! Glad the new version gives a few improvements regardless. Good review!

have you played large festivals where theres other bands in the vicinity? Our band is going to wisconsin to play the metal fest and theres 3 bands going at one time and I dont want interference.

Pretty sure you can link more transmitters - I have 5 on the previous system and doubt they would’ve removed that functionality. I like that only one can be active - one it eliminates crosstalk and interference and 2 if you forget to turn your volume knob off, you could have a serious feedback issue if your guitar stand is anywhere close to your amp. I also prefer a proprietary battery that last 12 hours vs AA that only lasts one show if you’re lucky… keep a spare one charged in your gig bag and you’ll never have an issue.

    Great review!
    This vid really helped me.
I just got GLXD16+, and this is what I expected to be other than 2 bad points for me.
    1. While charging, the LED indicator blinks in red, and I had to reset my transmitter.
Poweron with pushing link button, keep pushing until LED indicator turns off.
    2. At home I plug in the cable and keep my pedalboard powered. I don't know why the receiver's battery indicator blinks as you showed at 3:30 . It really bothers. GLXD16 had on-off switch and I could turn off the wireless unit.

Just bought this myself. This is a wicked review though and the balance is perfectly fair. Just played my first show and had zero issues. The setup and reviewing features without the details on the guide was annoying. But on the packaging they had a QR code to link you to the manual. Still a little confusing.
The only things i still had questions on are the power supply. Says you can use 9v to 15v minimum 400mwh . Only reason i can think this is possibly if using fuel tanks and have limited output. Either way its decent. And totally with you on 90° jack. Shame its not included.

The fact you can’t link older transmitters is a massive pain. I understand the upgrades but for someone with multiple transmitters it would be helpful to still utilise older models with new until I can afford full upgraded

i bet its going to kind of do a swap...2.4 was super crowded...but now everything is switching to 5g so i bet 2.4 will open back up

Good info, and yeah, nitpicky, especially for Shure at that price point. Adding the items you spoke of I think would have upped the price beyond where they would've wanted it. Also, the Line 6 looks kind of cheap comparatively. They clearly put their money into the internal software of the device rather than the hardware.
    Also, zzounds is awesome.

Just bought this wireless system GLXD16X due to my earlier version at times sounding like a wobbly chorus sound...could be because I have started using smart tech also 2.4ghz or whatever it is. So, the new GLXD16+ is way louder and quieter as regards artefacts than my earlier version, and now I can turn my Friedman Runt 20 combo up to LVL two which is great. Why is my new GLXD16+ louder than the earlier version, pray tell? It has nothing to do with the built-in dbs as they are on the same lvls on both units.

hey, man! great video, as always... I'm curious about what problems you've got with the G70. For me, may be old tech (only 2.4GHz) but the G70 has some unique specs compared to other brands, or even other Line6 models... as you've said, like fast guitar swapping using two TX body packs and just press the footswitch (that's amazing for a live show), and also having another guitar just plugged in and change to that one with the same footswitch, AA batteries (just get a bunch of those before a show and that's it) the aux output, where I use a polytune (always on, not in the signal chain... which is great)
I always scan the RF around the venue to find the best freq. for the TX, and sometimes even the factory scan works great.
For me to switch from the G70, someone has to come up with those same specs in a brand new compact wireless system!

Pretty much at every venue I've played at in the last two years I've had drop outs using the G70. No amount of scanning channels or whatnot seems to fix it. The dropouts occur if we're using the house PA or our own PA. The really odd thing is if I use it at our rehearsal space, I never have a problem, even using multiple 2.4GHz IEM systems and a WiFi router in the PA to connect to our X32 mixer and DriveRack PA2, not to mention the additional home WiFi.
It's unfortunate because of every feature you mentioned. I wish this GLX unit had all those features, but in the end, a reliable wireless is more important to me than said features. It's good to know yours is still working strong. 🤘🏼

I love my G70. I have had very few issues. Not sure why you're experiencing the problems. I've heard rechargable batteries may cause the issue of dropouts due to how rechargeables work. However , I've never used anything but alkaline. So, I can't verify this.

    • @aldo.a.fierro
      @aldo.a.fierro 2 месяца назад

@@johnborrelli3083 I can vouch for that. Last month, we were at the sound check for a gig, and I did not want to open the brand new batteries package, so I used some rechargeable I had with half charge… dropouts every time I walked away from my pedalboard.
Put on the new alkaline batteries, and worked like a charm for the entire show.

@@ManBunMetalHeadit looks like the shure unit has a very reliable connection, I just wish it had more outputs like the g70, this is why I'm sad that the g70 is so unreliable once it starts having drop outs, I loved that it had multiple outputs and a DI out

The Line 6 is jam packed with features but I had a lot of dropouts with it and it didn't sounds as good to me. The Shure was much more reliable.
