Poetic to see Vicki, who the Doctor doted on as if she was his granddaughter, now doting on a granddaughter of her own. Beautiful.
Meanwhile Susan, the Doctor's actual granddaughter: *gets left on Earth with a never-fulfilled promise to return*
Vicki was the first youthful girl to join the Doctor after Susan, so the idea there was some transference is valid.

@@MattLegerbut since he had a new face and a new regeneration was it really him when you think about it considering he left her behind, always doing that he did that to Sarah Jane as well, I guess if you're not a blond you get dumped without ever looking back well I can't say that considering he did the same thing to Joe, I guess I'm comparing knew who to Old who... Mean lately if he isn't the blond and white then the doctor is, in an original who he was always never talking down to people he expected people to either ask if they didn't understand something or to get it by watching and observing, reminds me of a certain teacher I had it who was the same way... Most people found him absolutely maddening than having to deal with however I had learned a trick with dealing with him watch was if you played dumb but not completely dumb, I would pump his ego to the point of it being so big that you couldn't help but pop it, he would then realize that he was being an a$$. I used to have fun getting him to that point for one reason and one reason only because I could see how much was frustrating the other students in the class, his excuse was they should be smart enough to figure it out by what he did or conversely know how to ask the question in such a way that when he had to give the answer he did not need to give a long explanation, like one would have to do with either to quote him idiots or small children... I suppose it had to do with the fact he's a man of a certain time and generation... But I never thought that was a good enough excuse. The truth is none of the students were little kids, but none of them were college-educated either at least most of them hadn't been there were a few of us who were exceptions, me I had always known when they were people who had a bad God complex I was about 10 my adopted Irish grandfather to thank for that, when I was six or seven years old I forget now how old is exactly what I was about that age he saw I was having a hard time dealing with certain types of suggested I study something called psychology, it's a type of head learning it tells you how people think and people relate to other people and why they behave this way once you know that you might be able to understand them well enough to deal with them I can't say that it helped entirely but it gave me an insight into what I have to deal with sometimes and I've always been thankful to him for that insight.
PS If you got to the bottom of this please understand I'm using voice to text and I can't write because of my hands so I can't fix anything, I can only hope you understand what I'm trying to say
I never saw the early Doctor Who not sticky not any of them and I always wondered what became of Ian and Susan and all the others and added Vicky end up staying in room and I never saw the episode and there was no chance for me to see it because certain ones were already missing... So now that Disney can we play the maybe I'll go and see it on Disney, even though I don't really like Disney.
RIP William Russell. So glad you were able to get him for interviews. Gone to the big London 1965 in the sky.

@@CubedSausagefromScarparius I'm not reading all of that, but I am going to say that it's ok to say "Trojan times" in reference to her as that's her adopted era as she stays there at the end of her TV tenure. So from the pov of this scene she's from that era.
Hmm... would her antibodies be more advanced or more lacking due to global elimination of diseases? So intriguing to think about!

I did. It was an open secret. Just like season 20 which will follow after that one. The only question was how they would deal with the missing episodes of The Crusade.

Maureen O'Brien's 'Vicki' was a much underrated companion... She was the first to break away from the very 'straight' grown-ups and kids formula, she really blossomed as a companion once Barbara and Ian left the TARDIS... a match for the dithering old Doctor!
Who never dithered and she blossomed before Ian & Barbara lefr...see the Space Museum
She started out as Susan and ended up as Nyssa!

@@swedish_llama1356 Dalek Invasion of Earth exists in full, so it's not reconstructed. The reconstructions will be for The Crusade episodes 2 and 4.
Curious what they mean by enhanced soundtrack. If they meant 5.1 they would have said so, have they added some stuff to it like with the Destiny enhanced soundtrack?

It's quite a month for Maureen O'Brien, first having a part in the next Ninth Doctor set for Big Finish, now this! This set is a lovely surprise, wasn't expecting a Hartnell one just yet, already sorted out my pre-order.

Vicki!!!! That just warmed my heart. I loved her when she was in the TARDIS crew. She was amazing! I'm glad Maureen O'Brien's decided to come back for that little bit, it's lovely to see her again.
I like how that scene with Vicki references the 11th Doctor's speech, "we're all stories in the end." And Vicki did become an everlasting story in the end, the mythic character of Cressida.
These trailers are always amazing! Us Who fans are so lucky!
What a marvellous trailer to promote the first b&w Collection set, with Maureen O’Brien reprising the role of Vicki. And I love how it's appropriately titled, "The Storyteller".

Its nice to see the 60s era of Doctor Who getting some love in recent years. The animated reconstructions, the Character Options figure sets for The Keys of Marinus and The Sensorites, Big Finish's stories with 60s Doctors, and now this Blu-Ray set. I like all Doctor Who (classic and modern), but the 60s era is where the show began, so to see it getting a little more love just makes me proud to be a Whovian.

Yes ! Love the William Hartnell era, season 2 is such a great season, 1st doctor, Vicki, Ian and Barbara one of the best tardis teams.
Can't wait to finally delve into the 60s era. Got introduced to classic Who through these sets and so it's an exiting day to be able to see a B&W season.

This is such a pleasant surprise!! That glimpse into Vicki's post-TARDIS life was beautiful and the actual trailer has me so excited for the set. Here's hoping that season one will be out for the 60th.
It would also be nice if all of the surviving First Doctor companions were included in the 60th specials, even if it's just for cameos or as other characters.
@Emily An here's hoping! It would be nice if we could get a new generation of fans to appreciate the Classic series, especially since the First Doctor gets so little recognition.
I'm not a hundred percent sure whether or not it was Emily Cook, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
This trailer appears to be derived from some background information given in the audio story "Frostfire", where Vicki (still under her alias of Cressida) and Troilus eventually abandon Aeneas in his journey to find a new home and both settle down in Carthage. The girl, Sophia, appears to be her granddaughter (although it's hard to square the mention of Sophia's mother with the fact that "Frostfire" states that Vicki and Troilus had two sons but no daughters...)
@@gordontaylor2815 thanks for the information! I haven't listened to Frostfire, but I might have to put it on my "to listen" list. It would be cool if they really did draw inspiration from it and used these trailers to reaffirm some Big Finish canonicity.

Vicky really helped the doctor mellow out. Would really like a animation of the mythmakers.
This was great, and it ties in so well with Vicki in the Big Finish audio _Frostfire_ too! If I had to pick a favourite season from all of the show, classic and new, season 2 would be it. So creative and fun!
Interesting, I had read it was going to be season 20 next, though it makes a nice change to have the early doctors eras covered.
I guess it also makes sense, given the span of time, to interview all those they can, whilst they can.
Plus, given 20 includes The Five Doctors, it would make a bit more sense to save it for next year, when it can tie into the anniversary.

Also, I know some people are gonna say this but I aught you clarify, the Crusade is only getting a telesnap recon because it is too hard to animate
There’s over 30 characters which appear in the two episodes alone and it takes an unbelievable amount of time and money to make character models and historical costumes. Just wanted to say that if people were wondering why
Precisely, the cost of that is high, and given it's something that's only part of a box set, it's just not economical.
@@EdSigma Crusade would have gotten a solo release first if they had decided to animate the missing episodes.
It's more that BBC America have pulled funding, so unless they find a new partner there's not going to be anymore animations period...

I am super excited about this release but I am disappointed about telesnaps in the crusade, these box sets make a fortune, if they release season 3 without animations it would be unwatchable

With the final 12th Doctor story bringing back the 1st Doctor, I'm sure there plenty of newer fans excited to see more of the 1st Doctor Who!
Well! You proved me wrong! I'd felt sure we'd only ever get Collection releases from Pertwee onwards, and that was exciting enough, but now I'm _really_ excited! Hopefully there won't be loads of stupid rights issues blocking the use of the various new animated stories in future Collection boxes of the First and Second Doctors.
Supposeibly the animation will be used when their respective sets come out.

I wasn't expecting this. I thought First and Second would never get Collection treatments given their missing episodes, but I suppose Season 2 is the best place to start for them, since on 2 episodes of The Crusade are missing.
The Romans is still my favourite 1st Doctor story.
My top 5 are-
5. The Tenth Planet
4. The Romans
3. The Keys of Marinus
2. The Chase
1. The Celestial Toymaker
And my least-favorite is The Web Planet:(

What a lovely trailer and seeing Vicki with her daughter again where she left the doctor was a nice touch. I really want to get this now and looks like a worthy purchase since I am a huge fan of the classic Hartnell stories. Especially, The Tenth Planet being my all time favourite Hartnell story.

Edit: Looks like reconstructions. Hope will always be that the remaining Ep. 2 & 4. 🤞 Oh god, imagine if they find Ep. 2 & 4 after this release?! Would they have to re-release it?!

Aw. How sweet! I love these little mini-sodes. They provide such charming closure for so many companions. Just one more little final note for their stories. How wonderful.

@@Nikioko which is why the technique for animating the web of fear was developed. I'm very disappointed that we're only getting reconstructions.
@@DemetriusSorvo The animation of Web of Fear is quite bad. Just look at Lethbridge-Stewart. But anyway, since BBC America announced that they would withdraw their funding, it was clear that there would be no further animations than those which were already announced. So, everything other than a telesnap reconstruction would have been a miracle.

Wow, I did not expect this so soon. The early stuff is pretty new to me so this is very exciting.
It does feel like a kinda kick in the balls that the contract with BBC America meant they had to animated full stories as we would have had more fully visually complete stories

@@jaytender4949 As with all missing episodes, the sound from the Myth Makers still exists, so you can get the CD and experience this awesome story for yourself. They're also plenty of fan photo reconstructions of the story with sound on the internet.

My only complaint; telesnap versions of The Crusade missing episodes, 2 and 4. Just hope they do a better job on them, than they did on the Underwater Menace DVD. Still, can't wait to add this one to the collection.

It will definitely be miles better than Underwater Menace. For some reason they were instructed to keep that one very basic, even when they said they'd do it to a higher quality for free!
Finally the 60s era getting some love from the collection! Can't wait, I'll always love this era of the show.
This is going to be a great collection of a truly wonderful era of Doctor Who! This is such a breath of fresh air after the last couple of years!
Maureen O'Brien is still so amazingly young. You can still see the child in her eyes.
It's so wonderful to see this is coming out. The trailer had me grinning from ear to ear.
I had am idea some years ago, for a new Doctor story were the Tardis takes the doctor back to Earth because Susan is dying and needs the Tardis to regenarate, With the regeneration complete Susan turns to the Doctor and says " I think I am ready to travel again Grandfather" I felt this would be a way for Carol Ann Ford to leave properly and her character to go on
. Unfortunateley I am not a writer and only ever got the first ten pages of it down

I am so pleased that these are being remastered. I have been collecting various older shows for a while now, and so many of them just are not available in a high quality resolution. So good to see all the old characters return!

I needed some good news today. This looks fantastic. I love the scene with Vicki and her granddaughter, almost brought a tear to my eye.

Love these trailers that gives follow-ups to the companions like Ace, Peri and Jo. Now we know what happened to Vicki. Nice for Maureen O'Brien to come back as Vicki after nearly 60 years.

I continue to love these trailers showing what happened to the companions after they left the Doctor, and Maureen O'Brien is still wonderful as Vicki (met her a few weeks ago at London Film and Comic Con, lovely lady)
Also, London 1965! and screw the haters, I love the imagination of The Web Planet, a truly alien world, better than visiting Earth every 2 minutes

I'd wish this sets had spanish subtitles option and thus were available here in Spain. I remember watching these episodes when they were shown in Twitch (and the London 1965 thing xD), this Doctor is great and had a charm that no one of his 12 and future successors will ever get.
