  • Marcellus Wiley criticizes Ja Morant and his father for the lack of structure around the young NBA star, most recently showcased in the Grizzlies’ guard punching and pulling a gun out on a 17-year-old during a pickup basketball game "allegedly." Marcellus adds context to his opinion by detailing his experiences with his father when he first made it to the NFL.

Great point. It’s one of those cases where the father’s physical presence is there but his purpose (as a father) is absent. A strong father would’ve nipped the foolishness in the bud. Seems like his dad is always intoxicated at the games. That’s a sign.

@@twotrill9746 You really think building a basketball court and getting his son to the NBA is "doing his part"? His part is done now? Thats a great achievement in and of itself, but that don't got nothing to do with being a father. And Ja is 23. I assume you are the same age or younger. I'm 38 and 23 year olds are still kids bro, no matter how much they hate for you to say that to them. Ja's dad still has so many years left to be a real father.

@@toysnaplaviscus I never said parenting stops. I said you can’t put his actions on his father. He is 23 years old a grown ass man his actions is on himself. He was at an away game his father can’t travel with him everywhere. This isn’t on his father this is on him. I said building a basketball court and training with shows that he believed in his son enough to invest in his talent and train him so he can be better. You know how hard it is to have your own basketball court? He probably sacrificed a lot to even get him his own basketball court. Sumter Sc is NOT the suburbs his father really took a gamble and believed in his son which paid off. 23 years old is not a kid you commit any crime you are getting charged as an adult. It’s time to stop blaming his father for all his decisions and start blaming JA.

Add to that SS had a personal back n forth, so ppl were more likely to be suspect of his motive, and label it "harsher" when it wasn't.
Ppl can "spin" how they want to....
      Example
If ppl want to be butt hurt MW just brought of dude's Mom and Dad....and basically just said the dude's Pops is slacking at fatherhood and his Momma ain't mothering.....again, one "could" spin it that way ( not saying I do....just saying ppl and interpret ( hate) whatever we wanna call it.

@@Therealchillwill901 Thanks, Roger. The wife has a mail-order nail 💅 client in the Memphis area, though this native has moved to the suburbs with her husband and kids.
A sister, of course, who tells us of the uglier hood tales you don't hear reported on WRG.
All that said, does Memphis native meaning that you no longer reside there? Just curious. I mean, you're living to tell me about it! ... stands to reason you bounced a while back.

Marcellus you 100% on this. What I would tell him is what I tell a lot of young people including my son… if you’re gonna play gangster just know one day you may actually get put in the game and you better be ready to play. Could be you pull the wrong person’s card, could be you end up locked up for one stupid decision or a list of other things. Now there’s no escape you live it to the fullest or get victimized.

I'm not longer a Ja fan, whereas before I was. However, a 17 year old "kid", is deceiving. A lot of the gang activities are led by 17 year olds, and murders as well. What year did the BMF guys start? Gottis, Ochoas, Wah Chings, etc. These 15, 16, 17 year old kids might be the most dangerous bc they feel they got the most to "prove".

Look at, my father taught me to always have guns, how to use and carry. How to clean my guns, with a schedule,so they will never jam. He also taught me to never play with guns. He said never show a gun unless, your going to use it. Under no circumstances should a gun be shown, unless it's a me or you situation. And if it's not a you or me situation of self defense, that in a court of law, they will send me to prison. Ja has youth, fame,a 200 million dollar contract and endorsements. Only time will tell,if he knows how to humbly handle success. When I was young, I had close childhood friends and others. My grandfather pulled me to the side and ask me,do you ever see any with me any people other than family? I said, " No." He told, "Son you have to be a lone wolf." He told me, "Son to be a true leader, you have to be alone, without being lonely. Ja's father maybe a great dad,in other respects but on this level he's a needy idiot. He's one the world stage, on camera arguing with a Shannon Sharpe. 😂😂😂 Totally in Idiot Box mode. Let's ask a deeper question. Why are black men,the ones fighting each other??? Why do we have to be the village idiots??? Why
